A very pleasant tasting experience especially with wine matches. Quite expensive mind, but good value all things considered.
Great food with some great hostess, which also give great tips about things to do in the surrounding of the restaurant! Also a late reservation and Dairy restrictions wasn’t a problem.
We were greeted with a smile, and had fabulous customer service throughout our meal from all staff. Our waitress had amazing knowledge of the dishes and produce, including where they were sourced. The room was beautiful to sit in, with the scenery a highlight. The surprise birthday cake topped off our experience. It was a very discuss meal.
Honestly, for the price point, the food at Laura was a massive let down. The service was excellent and the wine matches were really delightfully paired, but after hearing rave reviews about the food it was disappointing to discover each plate was nice enough but no better than any of the other fine dining restaurants (both in Mornington or elsewhere in Victoria) - either that or our expectations had been built up too much. Not a single dish was memorable or mind blowing. Most dishes were over salted (especially the mushroom consommé, potato, and snapper dishes) and the dessert (custard with strawberry foam) was actually quite below standard. We love that Laura uses regionally specific and seasonal produce, but this is pretty common place these days so no longer sets a restaurant apart. We don't mind paying decent money for good food, but given it was approx $300 per person (give or take if you get the additional dishes offered as extra courses in the tasting/degustation menu) we were expecting some bigger, bolder flavours and more innovative cuisine. If you've got money to burn and want a nice night out and haven't done much fine dining before then you'll probably have a lovely time at Laura, but if you're familiar with fine dining then we'd suggest spending your money elsewhere.
Fabulous service. Top notch. Couldn’t fault and this is what you would expect from a restaurant of this caliber.
A special location with a special menu.
Too much explanation of where the menu was sourced made fora theatrical experience which took away the experience of communing with good friends.
$250 per head which only included 1 glass of wine is a bit rich
Overall quality was good value for the price. Not pretentious but good flavours very well presented and conceived. Service very across everything. Their luxury transfer service was a god send and again good value from Blairgowrie to Pt Leo and return. The sommelier Andrew was very skilful in his service and even drove us home! Thank you very much for making my wife’s special day a great one.
Overall a great experience. Only let down was the main (beef) wasn't a bad dish just not as amazing as everything else. The nori starter, oysters and the mushroom consome blew my mind, service was great and the staff really added to experience with their knowledge but more importantly their attitude and energy
Lovely food, lovely people!
Exceptional food, wine, location, service and staff.
Can’t wait to go back. Could not fault it
All staff at Laura were brilliant- the staff made the experience
Amazing room with spectacular views. Food was exceptional with lots of local ingredients and creative dishes. The staff were knowledgeable and very engaging. As Laura is a set menu with some optional additions to the menu you need to be careful what you order. We were provided with an additional dish which we had no idea came at $60 cost. For everything else the wait staff were very clear but for some reason this one was overlooked. Other then that a great venue for a special occasion!
World class, luxurious but understated decor allows the stunning views and sculptures to shine, as does the food - lost for words at the presentation and flavours - five star. Exceptional wine list and service. Highly recommend.
Laura was the best! Loved ever minute of it. Delicious food, perfect wine matching and outstanding service. Lily and Josh who looked after us were wonderful, funny and made the whole evening marvellous. As good a dining experience as I've ever had and I've had plenty. Do yourself a massive favour and get there!
Amazing food, wine and service. Paired with a breathtaking view and finished with a walk amongst the sculptures by the sea. Overall, an unforgettable experience.
One word: amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Everything about our experience was excellent. Highly recommended
Had the most amazing lunch last Saturday The food is delicious and you can see the care they've taken in preparing every single dish. The team is equally amazing especially Ainslie who looked after us that day! Keep up the good work Laura. We will definitely come back.
I cannot recommend Laura highly enough. The food, service, wine, venue... everything was absolutely stunning from the moment we arrived, to the moment we left. Thank you Lily for looking after us so incredibly well.
Stunning - Phil Wood and staff are doing a spectacular job
From start to finish our experience at Laura exceeded our expectations. The service level was incredibly professional and knowledgeable; the food was incredible. Honestly, the entire night was faultless. I highly recommend Laura -- it is special and a true delight -- do not hesitate to book in!
Simply a fabulous experience with exceptional staff and food and an awesome location Win Win
Our overall experience was close to outstanding but one problem with the service spoilt our initial experience. We think something went wrong in allocating tables between the wait staff and 45 minutes after arriving we still did not have a menu, only some bread and wine. Once they realised the error they apologised and after that everything was indeed outstanding, both food and service. All the food was exceptional: fresh, interesting, yet not too "out there" or "try hard" as is the case in some other top restaurants. And a very good variety of flavours and textures. The wine list was extremely extensive. A stand out for me was one of the best dessert wines I've experienced. And the overall setting is also exceptional, looking out across the sculpture park to Westernport Bay. Highly recommended.
Laura is a genuinely warm hearted affair, where all staff are genuinely committed to making the dining experience as wonderful as possible. The food is a superb expression of the chefs vision, the kitchen staffs' skills and the amazing local produce. We would recommend Laura to any diner wanting a very special experience.
Phil Wood and his team have done an amazing job with the menu and the level of service to their customers. I can see why this restaurant is rated so highly and will surely be in every conversation when it comes to best restaurants in Australia. Keep Strong Laura and the Pt Leo Estate
Amazing food, wine and service! Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Well worth the price, would highly recommend!
Amazing dining experience. Strap yourself in and enjoy!
Love a long lunch. Especially when it's this good.
Service is quality Oz. Service without subservience. A little mischievous and irreverent; but just the right side of the line. There when needed / never in ya face.
The food is fab. A series of tastes, never too little, never too much. Some creativity without getting silly.
The wine list is a revelation. You can drink seriously well without cresting three figures per bottle, which seems all too rare these days. And then, of course, you can spend a lot more, where tempted.
I challenge you to find a better way to spend a drizzly Sunday afternoon.
Everything was flawless and exceptional except our mains which we felt fell short in comparison to the amazing other courses which we loved. The wagyu was a bit powdery and was overpowered by the other ingredients and my fiancé had the duck which he felt was great except that the sides didn’t match the flavours. We don’t normally give feedback and our concerns are minor but thought it would be good for chefs to hear our thoughts. We still had a fabulous night and the service was incredible! We would definitely recommend!
Excellent sommelier, attentive, knowledgeable and helpful. Excellent service, friendly, attentive and caring. Standout dishes - nori tart, potato duchesse, truffle and mushroom, snapper. A little noisy. Good outlook to floodlit sculptures. Reputation is deserved. A great experience.
From the time we arrived to the time we left everything was excellent. Both the staff and the food outstanding. Looking forward to returning.
The food, the wine, the service, the view....absolutely magnificent ! Can't believe we haven't discovered you before !The very thoughtful gesture of the birthday cake and sending us home with a printed memento of exactly what we ate and drank ( which we would never have been able to remember ptherwise ) was the finishing touch to a truly wonderful experience. Thank you Laura for a taste sensation, we will be back to see you soon !
Amazing experience! From the minute we walked in our greeting was warm and genuine and after being seated the wonderful food and wine just kept coming. The staff were excellent very knowledgeable without being pretentious and made the day flow perfectly with little bits of information as we went along.
The food was without a doubt the star of the show however the wine matches were absolutely perfect for each dish and very enjoyable.
If you have a special occasion or would just like to experience what the ultimate fine dining experience as all about Laura is a must do!
Oh and the glass ware is just next level.
I enjoyed the fresh favour of the dishes and the enthusiastic interactive staff . Exceptional location!
The panoramic views through the glass is a good backdrop to the excellently planned set menu. With the highlight been the potato duchess. I loved that every course came with a lovely description of where the food came from.
Laura was more than exceptional.
The scene was beautiful with the architecture sculpture surrounding the building.
The service provided by Ainslie and her team was outstanding and professional yet personalized to our experience.
The food was scrumptious. We particularly love the fresh oyster with lager sauce and Hawkes Farm potato duchess, cauliflower, shiitake.
We got to stroll in the park with the complimentary ticket provided.
Great location and food. Most ingredients were sourced locally. Only downside was the cold and wet Melbourne weather
The staff were very helpful and friendly. We received some birthday cake as well, which was a lovely touch.
Where has Laura gone?
This was our second visit. Six months ago it was a fantastic and memorable experience but this time the food was very poor. Our duck dish was reheated and flavourless (and only 3 slim slices) and the desert (aside from being flavourless) had been sitting in the fridge for a few days. Last time it was wow and when can we go back. This time we left hungry and thinking we will not go back. For the cost you expect near perfection and food with flavour cooked to order.
Very pleasant experience. Could not fault it! Highly recommended!
