L'Antica Pizzeria Da Michele
I hope it is because they are new that everything isn’t working the way it should. Definitely have to do something about service, they forgot our different drinks more than once even after several reminders and several apologies. My prosecco arrived after the appetizers. The food could have been amazing had the temperature been correct and not lukewarm and had it arrived at the same time. My plate arrived after the two others had finished. My wine again after the food and reminders. What could have been amazing was a disappointment and left us frustrated. We just wanted to leave. They have the elements to work but need to get on track. The owner was great, moving around the tables, greeting everyone, that was a very nice touch.
Disappointing. Not ready for prime time. Seated after 15 minutes of wait, 20 minutes for our waiter to show up, 15 minutes for sparkling water to show up. Pizza was cold and watery. How can a restaurant that specializes in pizza screw up on the basic margarita pizza? Amateurs, I say. Not going back again for sure.
L’Antica was amazing. Took us back at being at the original in Napoli. Will be going where a lot more now that we know it’s up and running.
The worst pizza I’ve ever had. Soggy, wet, drippy. Flavorless and extremely overpriced with an IKEA-type decor. Just reaffirms that everything in Hollywood sucks.
Beautiful and authentic. Food was delicious. Staff and management are excellent! I would highly recommend
Not Savoy in Tokyo but good pizza and fun atmosphere. I was surprised at the larger size for Neopolitan and both the margarita and marinara could have used a bit more olive oil...
I was here a few weeks ago and left a review commenting on how the food servers don't seem to know which tables ordered what dishes, leading them to wander around asking if you ordered the ______. I chalked this up to the restaurant being so new, but I went back this week and the same problem was still coming up. Tables have numbers, how hard is it to know that table 42 ordered the pizza? Other than that, a very nice meal - the appetizers, pizza and pasta were all good (I would like my pizza crust a bit more crispy than they do it here, but that's a personal preference). The waiter was good. Just a weird problem that the food servers wander around trying to give your drinks and dinner to other tables.
I was really excited to try this place, based on everything I had heard. It does have really great Italian style pizza... very simple, very good. But it's not life-changing or "the best I ever had" but certainly a nice addition to the Hollywood dining scene. Staff is great; ambience is quite lovely.
I can’t say enough about how delicious the food is at da Michele. Today it was the truffle pizza. Outstanding. We also had their Caesar and their pear salad a perfect compliment — and there was more than enough food for the three of us (with some pizza left over).
The staff as always was attentive and fun.
What a great addition to the neighborhood. What a great “homey” spot for LA! Should be on everyone’s radar for a great - let’s run out and get lunch or dinner - meal!
To say we will be back is an understatement. We haven’t stopped going since they opened!!
Wonderful! Can’t wait to go back!
It's a really pretty space hidden in the bowels of Hollywood with easy convenient valet parking.
Very inviting service staff and we got a great table in the garden area. Our waitress made all the suggestions for our order and she did an excellent job spacing out the plates.
I'm not a big one to share my food, except when it's really good and I had no problem portioning out each selection with my companion.
The Margherita pizza was excellent, the salad special was tasty and the papardelle with short ribs was also very well prepared. The lemon tart was just ok.
It's a great place to go for a casual dinner or even a nice night out for special occasion. I'd definitely go back.
I spent 6 months on a project in Rome and have been looking for authentic Southern Italian cuisine in Southern California. Happily the search is over now that L'Antica Pizzeria Da Michel has opened. There are a lot of really good Italian restaurants but the emphasis is on the word "authentic". (Full disclosure I have not been to Oesteria Mozza yet) With my first bite of the Margarita pizza we ordered I was transported back to dining in Rome during all those months. Pizzeria Mozza has great pizza, L'Antica's pizza is different because it's what you would get in Rome.
We ordered the Margarita pizza with extra cheese, the ricotta stuff zucchini flowers and the pasta bolognese and a value priced bottle of Italian sangiovese wine. We were hoping to take some pasta home for lunch the next day. No luck as there was nothing left on our plates.
The owner, Frescesco Zimone, also came by the table and spent a few minutes talking about bringing his family's world famous restaurant from Naples to Los Angeles. Make plans to dine at L'Antica Pizzeria Da Michele before it becomes more popular than Bestia with it's 2-3 month waitlist for reservations. You will be really glad when you go.
Amazing food (just say yes to the burrata/eggplant), perfect pizzas, excellent engaged service. Overall a perfect afternoon or evening under the Hollywood sky.
I eat here about every 10-14 days. It’s one of my favorite restaurants in the city. I bring different friends every time. Always exceptional service, always exceptional food.
The ambience is perfect California casual modern and the process of getting a table easy - I was seated within a minute of my arrival. Of course, I came here to eat so I must specifically mention the dishes that I ordered. The zucchini flowers were crispy on the outside and contrasted with the creamy ricotta filling - I could have eaten these all night long.
The fried pizza's reputation makes it a must try and it did not disappoint. It was very flavorful and I completely understand why it would be showcased in a movie. I also ordered and enjoyed the margherita pizza. For the most part, pizza appears simple as it typically has 3 components: dough, sauce and cheese. Yet, so many pizzeria's use rubbery cheese or sauce that could have been from a jar. Not this pizza, the sauce was delicious and I would have loved it as a dip or even on pasta. The cheese was delicious and the dough had a nice chew to it.
Another must have dish that I will return to enjoy is the pappardelle alla genovese which featured braised short rib. This dish, just like all of the plates that I had here, was very flavorful and texturally pleasing yet it did not make you feel that you needed a nap as so many pasta and pizzas do.
In addition to the great food, the ambience was a very nice fusion of California casual modern meets piazza. The service was excellent. The wait staff and the owners appeared to anticipate all of our needs and were very concerned that we were having a wonderful experience.
I will definitely return and I feel the need to share this gastronomical experience my friends.
Made reservations for 8pm...was told that our table was just getting cleaned up. Waited by the fireplace...looked at the time and it was 8:45pm. Went up to the ladies in the front and asked if the table was ready...the girl gave me a funny look. I said I had reservations at 8pm it was now 8:45pm...she said it was getting cleaned...I told her that’s what you said at 8. Finally, get seated at 9pm. At this point my party was hangry. Aside from the reservation situation, the food was great! Just don’t see us coming back for a while if we have to wait for an hour even after making reservations.
Great food, very affable owner who makes you feel welcomed as if your in his house, would have given the review 5 stars but the server was new to position and was slow and forget one item we ordered and little things she would forget, other than that restaurant was very accommodating.
This is the best Pizza I've had outside of Italy. The staff is super friendly and the ambiance is great.
Beautiful restaurant in middle of Hollywood! Patio nice. I like the pizza here but tried Cesar salad good, Calamari and brocollini both good. 2nd time here great spot before theatre.
Hospitality was fantastic. Sat at table right on time. Manager/Owner stopped by twice to check on us. Pizza, pasta, drinks all fantastic. Definitely coming back.
Ordered 3 items. Peach salad special came out first which was very light. The cavatelli melanzane came out next. The pasta texture was perfectly chewy and the eggplant was very savory. The margherita pizza came out last and was much larger than anticipated. Even though it is thin, it’s very filling. The pizza flavor was very good but a little too soggy for my preference aka I prefer Roman pizza. Overall a good experience with good food.
The owner came to the table to explain the menu which was a wide variety of items. The service was great and the food even better. If you like scallops, these had truffles and were delicious. The fusilli with burrata and zucchini was amazing and the pizza is like being in Naples!
Loved everything about it. Our server Nikki was wonderful - made good recommendation. The place itself was beautiful.
The pizza is fantastic and the staff very friendly! I'd definitely recommend (and have)!
First of all, let me say that the Pizza Margherita was OUTSTANDING. I would go back just for that and a glass of wine next time. The meatballs were also VERY good. The other food we ordered, figs w/prociutto, stuffed zuccini flowers, beet salad and shrimp salad were fine, but certainly not anything to write home about. The place itself is beautiful! The designer did an amazing job. Why I'm giving it such a low score is that the service was very sketchy. There were 4 of us and 3 of us got our meals and finished them before my friend got her shrimp salad, even though we asked the waiter twice, the person at the front of the restaurant and a busboy. I also had a very hard time getting a second glass of wine. That said, I understand it's a new restaurant and the kinks need to be ironed out, ,so I would definitely cut them some slack and will visit again. I must say though, that the tall, tattooed waiter we had was RIDICULOUSLY GORGEOUS! He might want to stick to acting or modeling and forget the waiting job.
The outdoor area is so wonderful. It's a beautiful spot!
The pizza is delicious with very fresh tomatoes. The salad is also wonderful, using the best produce.
We have been to the restaurant several times. The servers are exceptionally friendly and helpful.
Beutiful space, had a 1045pm reservation. Was seated promptly then sat there for 15min, no server, no water, nothing. So we left, ashame nice looking place.
Beautiful space, delicious pizza, good service, but the music selection didn't fit the space/vibe, it was like Now Hear This hits. Seated in the bar area, the music was cranked up at 8:30 p.m. and was so loud we couldn't have a conversation.
The pizza is outstanding. The sauce is sweet and the crust is made with imported flour. The only thing I didn’t like was the fact that the crust was very soggy. Was hoping for more of a crispy effect.
We ordered a pasta dish with eggplant and ricotta. It really had no dominate flavor. Crushed red pepper would have given it more of a Pasta Alla Norma taste which is better than bland.
I will go back to try other pasta dishes however in search of flavor.
If you haven’t tried L’Antica yet, you’re missing out!
Good was amazing!! The owner was so nice as well as were the waiters. I would definitely go back.
Enjoyed the sautéed calamari and the Caesar salad. Also liked the pizza with the fried crust. Can’t recall the actual name but it is smaller than the other pizzas. The only objection we had is everything came out within a few seconds of each other giving us the impression of please eat quickly and leave and they weren’t busy. Couldn’t they have paced things a little? We were done within 25 minutes. Great if you were in a hurry but we weren’t. We will be back. Lots of flies if you eat on the patio.
Service and ambiance are lovely. Food needs some work
I've already told all my friends to go... we're going to all be fighting for reservations soon.
Owner is overbearing, telling you everything that’s good and what to order, but not asking how anything was. Lots of pressure right when you sit down to order a lot of things. Portions are large, but pizza was on a regular tray so got instantly cold and soggy. Beet salad had an icky cheese, awful.
Takes me back to Napoli , Italy ... authentic Neapolitan !
Pizza meravigiosa , ottima , perfetta !!!
Fantastic ambiance and great pizza! Big fan of the burrata and eggplant appetizer as well.
Service was horribly slow and pizza was cold :( will not go back.
the first two visits were great. fast service. this latest one was slow. a little disapponting. i have to flagged down somebody to let them know that we're ready to order. waiter was not as friendly as the others. i guess too busy. interacted with her twice, to give order and asked for check. nobody asked if evrything okay in between, came only to bring our order or when we asked for refill.
