Lake Moodemere Estate
We grow our own lamb, wheat, honey, citrus, eggs, seasonal vegetables & herbs. All our Estate produce is sustainably produced with minimal intervention and zero food miles.
Executive Chef, Jarrod Smith, explores his passion for innovative and delicious food that reflects the place it was grown and the people who made it.
Family run winery showcasing food and wines grown on their property. Lunch on offer was 5 courses with matching wines optional. Starters included house made bread roll made from wheat grown on property stone ground, served with churned butter and olives, house made rice cracker with taramasalata and more.. Highlight was salmon on bed of beans in squid ink served with fennel followed by house made pasta with chestnuts and mushrooms - both delicious. We would not order sides next time as the portions were adequate and we found sides even though really good was too much food for two of us.
Matching wines complimented the food beautifully.
Owners were welcoming with friendly informative service. The atmosphere was rustic with dining in a farm house building with timber floors, open fire and views of the winery. Outside the building was a citrus orchard, garden, hens wandering about and seating under the trees with view of lake Moodemere.
All in all a lovely experience and would highly recommend a visit
Had the 5 course menu last Sunday and it was delicious! Perfect sized plates and a great variety of flavours. We’ll be returning with friends in a few weeks time.
Lovely setting great food and the service as always was friendly
Fist time visitor and a local. Great food, wine, view and friendly efficient service. Sitting outside under the giant gums was relaxing and peaceful. Our noise did not interrupt others. Highly recommend it!!
Superb friendly service, food delicious and delicious drinks. The muscat spritzer was re freshing and so tasty. Not to mention the gorgeous views.
Nice place. Sat inside but in retrospect may have been better outside? The dining area is in the tasting area and this may be an issue if there are a lot of people tasting wine.
Food is very good. Chicken was excellent and the Lamb ribs very good. The tasting menu as a starter is also worthwhile.
The price of a glass of wine is too expensive. It would be better buying a bottle and taking the left over home for later.
Beautiful relaxed setting in nature. Food wine and service are great.
We only just discovered this winery and absolutely love it it is family owned and they make you feel very welcome always have a friendly chat and the service and food is excellent would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great place to eat and relax with family and friends
The steak was tender, succulent and grilled to my preference superbly. I do not drink sweet wines as a rule but the “tiara” with the trifle was amazing.
What a lovely location, sitting on the banks of the lake enjoying food worth fantastic flavours and wines to match, what more can you ask, oh yes, great hosts.
We had an enjoyable long lunch, just on three hours and the time flew.
Will we go again, most definitely.
Thankyou so much, we had a delicious lunch in a relaxed atmosphere.
On a warm sunny day in Rutherglen Lake Moodemere Estate’s view, food and of course wine (rose the personal fav), is unrivalled.
This is a fantastic venue that has great food, great wines and good service
The lamb is a must do from my perspective
We had an amazing Cabernet with the lamb which matched very well
Great time as always. Friends. Good, wine. Great service. Friendly and helpful. Wasn’t that excited about dessert this time but really loved the beef cheek. Yum
Food and people were great and so was the atmosphere too- there was only one issue with an hour and a bit wait for our food to come out but they told us that they were a little behind due to an unforeseen issue in the kitchen which was good of them to do that so we just went for a stroll in the vineyards until our meal came.
I’d certainly recommend this place for lunch
We have been back here a few times now and bring different family and friends with us. Highly recommend
We thoroughly enjoyed our time on Saturday. From when we walked in and sampled some wines, to sitting down to a lovely meal with some more wine. The service and hospitality was great.
My son and I, among many other families, really enjoyed the Mothers Day lunch at Lake Moodemere Estate. The food was delicious and plentiful, the service friendly and efficient. The setting is lovely, it is kid and dog-friendly and utterly relaxing.
Had a very enjoyable lunch with great food, service, wine & friends at a garden table overlooking the lake. The weather turned it on as well. Would recommend to anyone travelling to the area.
Apart from an unfortunate mix up that meant we waited an unacceptable time between our entree and main course (just under an hour) the visit was very enjoyable. The food, in particular, the lamb special was outstanding and the wines weren't bad either.
The setting is one of the best in the region, very relaxed and casual. Food is even better now with the new chef and a lot is grown on the premises. Family run so the service is always good.Highly recommend.
Nice meal in a lovely, low key environment overlooking the lake.
Easter Saturday lunch with family. Service was a bit slow to start but the food and wine made up for it. Beautiful casual setting beside the lake under the huge shade trees. Will certainly work back!
Fantastic food, fantastic setting!
We loved our lunch
Great choices and very accommodating with preference for fussy eaters
Wine with meal was perfect
Lovely setting by the lake - the hosts were super accommodating and never tired to share their story... seeing the sheep running around the paddock as you drive in, makes you smile, especially the naughty ones that escaped and are eating the grass along the driveway... loved our amazing lunch, and lamb has never tasted so good!
The food was absolutely great, but pricing and especially service was very poor.
My group loved it! The food, setting and service was fabulous
Outstanding ambiance overlooking the lake, in the shade. Outstanding food also
We all had a wonderful time and wanted to stay longer however when we arrived home someone had broken into our home and stolen all of my jewellery, including my late mothers rings. as you could imagine I am devastated after such a lovely afternoon.
Thanks for taking the time to review our Lakeside Restaurant after such a devastating experience. The same thing happened to both my mother and mother in law. It's terrible and we're sorry your day ended that way. On a brighter note, it's wonderful to hear your positive feedback and we hope to continue to improve by offering something special every time you visit.
Great location great food and great staff
Menue is unique with local produce the lamb tartra is to kill for
Beautiful setting. Top notch food. Great service and amazing wine. Absolutely recommend going along with friends and enjoying the overall atmosphere.
Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Lake Moodemere Winery
Enjoyed a lovely lunch under shade trees with a lake view. Food and wine very good. Great grounds. Kids enjoyed patting the lambs in nearby yard. Great place for a family lunch.
With my family visiting from overseas we wanted to lunch locally in a pleasant atmosphere with good service, food and wine. We were not disappointed. We felt very welcome and ,even though the weather was extremely warm ( say 41c) , we still had a lovely day eating outside looking over the lake
Second time for lunch. Both occasions very enjoyable.
Outdoor setting overlooking the lake is beautiful.
Menu, service and wines were very much to our liking...we will most defiantly be returning.
