Lake House - Daylesford Ratings and Reviews
Our lunch experience started quite well with very attentive staff and some pretty tasty food. However things went downhill rapidly when the staff finished at 2pm and we were left with a single staff member who was busy setting tables and preparing for the dinner setting. We struggled to even get noticed, let alone go about ordering the remainder of our meals. If I'm paying the prices we paid I expect that the staff will be their for the entirety of our meal. Very disappointing.
There is good reason the Lake House has remained such an acclaimed restaurant for so long. Had a romantic dinner last night for my wife's birthday. The 8 course tasting menu with matched wines is pricey but so it should be. The quality of the produce, inventiveness of the food, attention to detail and fantastic service is truly wonderful. Highly recommended!
The food was impeccable, and the service was outstanding. This was a real treat and thoroughly enjoyed it. I have some food intolerances and I have never been so well looked after, I even had my own menu printed for me with what I could eat. The flavours were incredible and the lamb sharing plate was delicious and an extremely generous portion. Would highly recommend the lake house.
Food, service and location all outstanding. I took my boyfriend here for his 30th and it was a perfect afternoon. In between courses we sat out on the decking and looked over the lake, which was so lovely. The degustation was incredible and they were very generous with the wine pairings.
Would highly recommend.
Was very disappointed on this visit, we had the tasting menue and was not able to complete all the dishes there was too many fish tastings to begin with and all were far too rich and no defined flavour stood out in any of these tastes we could not finish the chicken dish as the taste again was far too rich ,as we rose to leave no one came to see us up the stairs or bid us goodnight a very expensive and disappointing evening
Disappointing service, after waiting 20 minutes with no one attending I had to get up and ask for a menu
The wine list for wines by the bottle is exceptional.
But the selection of wines by the glass is very poor
I chose the wine flight to go with the tasting menu, this cost $80 per person and I thought the wine selection very poor.
The wine waiter rattled off a description of each wine as he poured, so quickly it was impossible to follow and he couldn't answer basic questions abo
Our dining experience wasn't very special at all, although the food was above average it was certainly negated by the cost. But by far the biggest disappointment of the night was the poor service, we waited over 45 mins for our third course of cheese and there seemed to be confusion among the wait staff as to what course we were up to and worse still there was no acknowledgement from anyone regarding the issue, not even an apology. Very disappointing!
We had an early dinner booking at 1830 so the sun setting over the lake was lovely had a great table in the window
The tables in the window were a little close together could not help hearing others conversation
Food was excellent we had the degustation but nothing made us go wow !!
Service attentive everyone on the floor knew about the dishes the head waiter, somelier & 1 other waitress seemed to do brunt of work
We had the 9-course degustation with the wine accompaniment and it was amazing. The flavours and the creativity of every dish had that wow factor, and the wine that complimented each course was perfection. The staff were so friendly and attentive and very knowledgeable about each dish and especially the wine. The Lake House is the full package- great food, wine, service, ambience and location.
A great setting by Lake Daylesford. Service was exemplary. However, the food/meal sizes were very small and the complimentary salad that came with main meal was very disappointing (just lettuce, without dressing). The house-made sourdough tasted wonderful...and helped fill me up (as the meal sizes were small). This place is perfect for special occasions, but may not be be perfect for those who enjoy big meals. There is, however, a degustation menu.
Absolutely fantastic night at Lake House, from drinks on arrival right through the dining experience. Stunning views on a cold winters night, food was nothing short of amazing. Not the first time I have dined there and certainly won't be my last. Highly recommended.
Food was outstanding. Beautifully presented and crafted. We opted for the 3 courses with a side. We did not need the side, the potatoes were triple cooked, but they seemed dry and were covered in too much salt for our liking, wasn't up to the standard of the rest of the meal. My partner is Vegetarian and was amazed by the food. The wine list was huge, I had a wonderful Shiraz (I wish I could remember the name) Overall it was a special occasion and we had a special experience.
Our visit to Lake House was marking a special occasion, and now we are locking in the next visit! The meal was indescribably delicious, and each course just lifted the bar higher for taste and creativity. Two picky eaters at the table couldn't fault it, everything was so perfect. The wine list was extensive, and the service was impeccable. Lake House stood up to its well-deserved reputation, thank you for a fantastic culinary experience!
