The restaurant didn’t have a table available even though we had a reservation. Once we were seated we waited half an hour and decided to leave as they didn’t bring us a menu or attend the table.

Absolutely terrible experience. Had a booking - seated after 10 minute wait. Then 40 minutes before we were served - even for a drink. That was after I had asked three waiters. We should have walked out but stayed because other restaurants in the strip were busy and we were hungry. I asked one older Italian waiter if we could order - he said I’m sure you would like to order and laughed at me and kept walking. We finally ordered then 1 hour later still didn’t have meals - restaurant was now basically empty and waiter - who had shirt unbuttoned to groin and big gold chain brings our meals. One short… he tells us sorry we don’t have any lasagne left! Are you serious you brought us 4 dishes and leave my daughter without a meal after 1 hour 40 minutes. He then said what else do you want. My daughter said gnocchi - he went to the kitchen returned - nope that’s sold out as well! We walked out after 2 hours and very ordinary food. While we were waiting we watched the owner scream at a young confused waiter for not clearing a table. This place is worse than faulty towers! No not recommend.

Food was ok - not brilliant for the price. Service was lovely, but I was disappointed that they didn’t check vaccine passports and actually told us not to bother with masks

The overall experience of food and service just didn’t match the price we paid . We were a group of 6 and went in to celebrate an important occasion . The garlic bread ordered didn’t taste like garlic bread - just a dried bread with some butter on top and the bruschetta was disappointing . Pastas were good but the chicken pasta had few few pieces of chicken in it . We had to ask for the condiments whereas it should by default be on the table . We didn’t feel the meals were value for money plus the servers were late . They had another big group birthday going on and everyone was busy serving that group ! Not coming back !

La Spaghettata was nice and it offered good value for money.
The food was OK, but there’s definitely better spots on Lygon St.
Service was a bit slow, but, to be fair, they were fairly busy.
I was unhappy as we got seated by the front door and it was unpleasantly cold, which meant we had to eat while wearing our winter coats — that wasn’t an enjoyable experience.
Would I go back? I doubt it.

1 of the older waitresses was not friendly to Asians. She ignored our repeated requests to clear the table in order for us to enjoy our desserts properly. It spoilt what was otherwise an enjoyable evening.

Food is great, very generous portion sizes and great value for money. We tend to go Easter or Christmas, it’s very convenient that it’s open on those days, no one wants to cook!

Cosey restaurant with friendly attentive waiter. Quite good prices and lots of choices but stick to pasta and traditional dishes. Steak not recommended.

Great traditional Italian food. Very busy which meant slightly slow service.

One of the pleasant surprises for dining during our recent trip from the states to Australia was our lunchtime meal at La Spaghettata Italian Restaurant on Lygon Street, Carlton North, Melbourne, VIC. From the moment we approached the colorful exterior street-side dining area of the restaurant, we knew we were in for a special time. Warmly greeted by "Luciano", who had been a waiter in the restaurant for over 30 years, we were given the very best of service as he attended to our every request. For starters we enjoyed the Bruschetta Sicilina, followed by the Entre'e portion of Scampi, the Garden Salad and, finally, Spaghetti with meat sauce. I was pleased that La Spaghettata had Peroni that had been bottled in Roma, Italia. A nearby table had ordered the Cozze Pescatora (black mussels) that looked and smelled equally delicious (perhaps nest time!). I even had a brief moment to speak with the owner of La Spaghettata, Tony Cattafi, and, as we were leaving, his son, Fabio, hailed a taxi for us to insure our safe passage back to our hotel. All-in-all we had a wonderful time and we highly recommend this restaurant - a real gem in Melbourne!
