La Piquette Ratings and Reviews
Terrible service - sat at the bar & it took nearly 30 minutes to get the salad and then another nearly 45 minutes before our entrees. Couple joined us at the bar 10 minutes or so after us and got served appetizer & meal & we’re done with their meal just after we got served our salad.
Just recently became aware of this neighborhood gem. Fantastic for lunch and dinner. Lots of gluten free and healthy options. Wonderful ambience, works for intimate meal, meal with friends or with colleagues. Good for kids too, though haven't seen many when I've gone.
I have been raving about La Piquette to my friends for some time now and we finally found a time when we could meet and share a dinner. My companions were literally speechless after they tried their dishes. We have all been to or lived in France, and we agreed that our meal at La Piquette would be a good one even by Paris standards. We shared orders of skate, rabbit, and duck confit. All were delectable - perfectly prepared. Of course even the best meal is simply an excuse for the desserts - cannelés with creme anglaise, crème caramel, and apple tarte à la mode. Maybe not better than sex, but close.
Great restaurant but you really should NOT ask that we keep our knife and fork for the next course. That action puts this restaurant into a lower category, despite everything else being good. I have never had a restaurant in France ask that I keep my knife and fork for the next course.
An excellent choice for authentic French cuisine. The menu has interesting choices (where else do you find rabbit on the menu?), the food is excellent and nicely presented (duck confit!). The wine list offers good values (we had a bottle of Rully 1er Cru). Service is friendly. The ambiance is reminiscent of France; the tables are tiny and close together, so you quickly become acquainted with your neighbors. The noise level goes up as the evening progresses; come early if you want to have a conversation with your partner. Parking on the street or in the Giant garage (complimentary, ask for exit ticket). A neighborhood gem, highly recommended.
Still simply straightforward and excellent. The food is so-well-prepared you KNOW the chef is a super-star because everything comes out looking so easy and casual (hallmark of great training). The prixe-fixe brunch menu is really a great deal and makes adding that glass of champagne or rose that much easier. Salmon tartare; eggs benedict; and an amazing tart l'organge which was moist, tangy, and with enough orange flavor to humble Tropicana. La Piquette is a true neighborhood gem and quite a delight.
This was a repeat visit to La Piquette and we were not disappointed at all. Front of restaurant was open to the street and their patio due to the great weather. We had visited many other highly reviewed places since our last visit to La Piquette and some of those were also repeat visits and others were new. Field & Main, French Hound Brasserie, Wine Kitchen LB, Oyamel, Jaleo, Conosci, Osteria Morini, Mokomandy, etc. We had forgotten what a great restaurant this was, and decided that it is, overall, our favorite restaurant.
We sampled many dishes before, the Confit, etc. This time we had the Heirloom Tomato Burrata and Beef Tartare as first courses. Then the Salmon and the Short Rib after that. Everything was absolute perfection. Good Wine List and reasonably priced. Service by Juan outdistanced anything we've experienced recently.
We can't wait to go back!
Slightly ambivalent about La Piquette. Positives: good service and advice from waiter; house red wine, a blend, was good and well priced; champgnons first course nicely prepared; rabbit with fettucini tasty and succulent. Negatives: noisy, even when only partially filled early in the evening and noisier as tables filled; duck confit had good taste, but too dry. Did not try desserts. Probably will not return, mainly because of the noise levels.
As always, superb food and wonderful service at affordable prices. The menu , although not extenaive, has a very well chosen range of dishes. One can have a delicious dinner with several starters, share a starter and then an entree. Dessert choice has something for everyone including those of us counting calories. To top it off a nice wine list. The only negative is the noise when outside seating isn't available.v
This is a gem and a wonderful addition to our neighborhood
I am a huge fan... deeply disappointed. We love La Piquette, what we didn't love were some amazing up-charges on our bill. Two of the party asked for bloody marys and one for champagne. Without asking the waiter delivered premium drinks which we were not aware of until the bill was presented. We arrived at 11:15 so it wasn't busy, and the waiter was also doing bar duty so less attentive than any other visit (of many) to La Piquette. As a former table attendant and bartender, I was saddened. . UPDATE: RECEIVED CALL FROM OWNER AND MANAGERS THEY HAVE BEEN TERRIFIC! LOOKING FORWARD TO RETURNING TO THIS JEWEL
I love the food there, everything I tried was cooked just the right way. It may get full, so reservation is a good idea even during the week. It's a bit pricy for lunch, but overall pricing is fine for this quality. Definitely recommend for lunch or dinner for smaller groups.
We went for a birthday celebration. The food was really fabulous. It's expensive but very worth it for a special occasion. The service was great. It got very loud toward the end of the evening so be prepared for that. I would not recommend this for a private, romantic dinner for that reason. We will definitely go again.
When we went to the restaurant that was there before, the noise level was too high and we literally couldn't hear each other. So, we got smart and went a little early this time but I think it wouldn't be a problem anymore anyway. The food is delicious, the service is great, it's very pretty even Parisian in its atmosphere. It is now my new favorite restaurant and I will bring everyone I know to try it out.
Had a lovely birthday dinner for spouse and friends. Menu offerings were numerous... hard to choose from so many options!! But motivated to return. GREAT pain de campagne with luscious olive oil. Aioli was perfect and was our entire evening!! Attentive wait staff but also unintrusive and bustling throughout our stay. Tasty dessert!!
I took my wife to celebrate her birthday. The place is cozy, they offer a complementary sparkling water and we had a fabulous time. Our host and our waiter were amazing, the service was great and I recommend the fish (any type is always good). We also had the apple tart and it was very good. Will go back again.
A neighborhood favorite that never disappoints. From the warm welcome we always receive to the delicious and authentic French cuisine, la Piquette is such a great spot. The food is excellent whether you're stopping in for some steak tartare and a quick glass of wine or whether you're having a full dinner, you will not regret choosing la Piquette!
Excellent as always. La Piquette has the atmosphere of a true French bistro, great service and outstanding cuisine. My partner ordered the lamb shank which was exquisite . I had the canard a l'orange, which was tender and delicately flavored. Desert was canelle (my partner said that they were as good or better than any she'd had in Paris) and figs with freshly made vanilla ice cream. Heavenly.
Food was tasty, but both my wife and I couldn't sleep well that night because of some stomach discomfort. We asked for the "upgraded house red wine 1/2 liter $28" which was probably a mix of left over wines since it came already in a jar. It was a little bid acid.
The service was not good. It took for ever. They forgot to bring the bread and the soft drinks.
The meat was cooked perfectly.
Too noisy. No ambience. Too expensive for what you get.
We, my wife, teenage son and I, come to Lapiquette about every other month because it's a good, authentic French restaurant and the food is excellent, with a great wine selection and wide selection of dishes especially seafood. Since last visiting, they have removed some of the accompaniments from their entrees, requiring you to buy a side dish, for most entrees, it seems. This just amounts to a price increase, but it does make the place quite pricey. It won't stop us from going, but it means they have found the maximal point, price wise, for us! The service is good, usually very friendly, and the ambiance nice. I am not an expert, but I feel confident in describing the food as authentically French. I recommend!
The food is always excellent - wine and service are fine. The only really bad thing about it is the unbearably loud noise at some times. It's not so bad when it isn't very crowded. Sitting outside is very pleasant - mainly because you can hear each other without shouting.
