The food is incredible and the owner and his son always go out of their way to make you feel welcome!
This place is the BEST! We went on a Sunday and the chef himself served us. What a treat to talk to him. Every dish was exquisite. This place is our go to for special occasions. And there's a reason - consistently excellent quality at all levels.
Very good food, but service seemed rushed and haughty. Don't make non-drinkers feel like they don't deserve to be there.
We got nickled and dimed. We ordered house salads, and were not told there would be an additional charge for the dressing we chose. Though only 50 cents, is that really necessary? At least let us know. Additionally, my wife asked "can I replace the potatoes with vegetables?" to which the server said "sure", but failed to tell us that it would cost an additional $4. Upon entering and asking for a particular table, we were simply told no. Upon exiting, we noticed that all of those tables were filled up. Decent food, though extremely small portions, and nice ambience, but the aforementioned does not make future visits worth our while. There are too many Italian options in Oak Park to settle.
Giovani the owner personally greeted us and waited on our table. He was so welcoming and made us feel like old friends. He really made the dinner more than just a meal but a wonderful experience and memory. We laughed, learned about his cooking style and enjoyed some incredible food. Truly a fabulous experience. We will definitely be going back.
Giovanni and Francisco could not be more gracious hosts. The food and service were both outstanding, will definitely be back.
Everything is homemade and tastes just like you're in Italy! The owners provide high quality food and offer phenomenal hospitality! Love this place!
We go there for the food. So good. The ambiance is great. Although that evening was extremely packed and loud. But it’s a sign of greatness.
Fresh seafood, and the best cheese cake ever!
We have been La Notte fans for a decade or more and are so pleased to have them in downtown Oak Park. The food, service and overall experience are consistently high. Gio and his team have made La Notte our go-to dinner out.
New Year’s Eve at our favorite local Italian spot. All good All the time. Food and service always 5 star a little pricey but it’s sooo good.
Food was amazing! After traveling to Italy it's been really hard to find an Italian restaurant that can compare. La Notte has definitely came the closest. We'll definitely be going back!
I’ve been here before and enjoyed it. The food is great, the service was quite good and it was reasonably priced. I plan on going back in the near future.
La Notte is our favorite restaurant. Giovanni and Francesco always go above and beyond! If you haven’t tried this restaurant yet, you should!
Meh. Not bad. Not great. Nothing impressed.
Exelent Italian food all individually prepared by chef Mancini very accommodating to individual request if it’s not on the menu ask for it if they can they will make the dish you request
Astonishingly bad service. We were directed to our table with just a gesture. Dishes were plopped down on the table without concern for who ordered them or if they spilled. They'd side some plates and utensils and leave others behind or fill some glasses and leave others half-filled. Some of the water tasted soapy. One worker took our dessert order and then 10 minutes later another came and tossed our bill on the table. (Do I need to add we hadn't requested it?) At least it didn't include the dessert. Food was fine.
Terrific food in a friendly, warm place. Noise levels can get high, but always excellent meals.
The dining experience was elegant. The staff were detailed in presentation and attentive in service. The entire experience was worthwhile and enjoyable.
We love everything about La Notte Ristorante!!! Amazing food, wonderful staff and great Oak Park location. Wonderful restaurant.
Food is absolutely amazing. Unfortunately, the wait staff is stretched thin as the owners like to take tables themselves. Unfortunately, in doing so they invariably get caught chatting up regular customers and others while you are left waiting for your orders to be taken, your food to come and for your check. It’s maddening to watch them stop and talk at length with other tables about family history, business operations, etc while you are waiting for service. Please hire enough wait staff to serve the customers. That will enable you to enjoy talking to your guests without keeping others waiting. Until you do we will not be back.
We will be back! Dined on a Sunday night and the service was outstanding. Chef Giovanni came to our table and was very pleasant and helpful. We ordered the salmon roll appetizer - smoked salmon wrapped around cream cheese and asparagus. It was delicious! I had the mussels and shrimp in squid ink pasta with marinara. The sauce and the pasta was perfect! About 8 mussels and 5-6 shrimp, just the right amount in my opinion. Only complaint was that a couple of the mussels were not hot and the shrimp was a bit overcooked. Nevertheless, the disco was delicious and ia ate every bite! My wife had the clams and linguini in white wine sauce but substituted the squid ink fettuccine for the linguini. Her dish was also delicious! One more thing we thoroughly enjoy about La Notte is that they have a reasonably priced wine list with some very good wines, always a special feature for us.
I like La Notte. To me, it feels very "old school". The owner and his son recognize most of the patrons and chat with everyone. It's nice. I imagine some people might not enjoy that, but I do.
Fantastic as always - all dishes were excellent. Service wax exceptional. Always friendly with a positive vibe. It’s an hour drive for us to get there but well worth the trip.
Food was very good. Service was slow on the night we ate at restaurant. Not conversation friendly.
The food here is better than what I ate while in Tuscany. No kidding. Chef Giovanni is consistent. I think it's a treasure of a restaurant. I highly recommend it.
Would definitely recommend this place.
Owner was welcoming and hospitable. Delicious, homemade food! Felt treated as if we were family. Definitely returning!
We had a very fussy infant in our party, and the entire staff was very accommodating and welcoming. The food was delightful! Would definitely go back and recommend.
Fantastic in every way.
The clam chowder is ridiculously good. Everything is fresh. Service is exactly what you would want from a small local restaurant. We will be back and already looking forward to it.
There are too many tables in this space. The noise level is so high that you can’t hear the person next to you.
The service is always so good when coming from the owners (chef and his son) but otherwise not good at all. We were never told of any specials by our server, but later heard the owner/son telling another table of many. Our loss. Water was slow to be refilled. A second round of drinks were not offered by our server, but the owner did check to see if we needed more.
Easy to reach due to its location near 290, wonderful ambiance and feel of a family-owned restaurant. The menu is very broad, and the owner takes great pains to personally engage with every table. If you want something done "special" or if you want something that is not on the menu, just ask. The food is superb. Fresh ingredients expertly prepared. Portion sizes are ideal. The appetizers were excellent. Love this place and will be making it a regular stop. Fish (de-boned and filleted table side) and chicken dishes were wonderful. Cioppino appetizer was best we've every had. Highly recommended.
Best Italian food I've had in ages. Service is great. The owner was great. Invited my wife and I to the bar after dinner. Introduced us to new cocktails. We left full and happy and a little tipsy. Great place. Great food. Great experience.
Consistently the best Italian food in and around oak park. Service is always top notch.
Great to know the owner and get his real hands-on service. His “No Menu” menu is great: he’ll mix and match everything on the menu to your taste. Always a great time!
La Notte is one of our favorites. The food is delicious, authentic, and made to order. Service is usually attentive but server seemed preoccupied this particular evening. My only complaint as always is the noise level.
Great local place to dine.
Nice and cozy environment on a cold, blistery evening. Baked Clams were awesome, salad fresh and delicious balsamic dressing. I had the pumpkin ravioli which was a special for the evening, very delicious. My husband had the Bolognese, and didn't even give me a bite, so I'm guessing, was delicious too. All the staff was interactive with us. Very friendly environment. We enjoyed it very much.
Second time I’ve been there. First time since it was opened. I absolutely love the service and the friendly family owned/locally owned atmosphere. The food is fantastic, but portions were small. The portions were very compatible with the price, however. The noise level was uncomfortable. The service and family atmosphere made it forgivable.
Overall, I highly recommend it as a great place for my Oak Park neighbors. I regret not frequenting the place nor often.
