Petersham Nurseries interpretation of Italian ‘cichetti’ is showcased within La Goccia, a vibrant and accessible restaurant offering an extensive menu of small sharing plates. The emphasis on seasonality is key to the lunch and dinner menu that changes regularly. An open grill and a wood burning oven adds an element of drama and theatre to the ambiance, as food is prepared in front of diners. During spring and summer months, tables flow out on to Floral Court, giving diners the opportunity to eat and drink al fresco. La Goccia Bar has a lively and botanical atmosphere, serving nature inspired cocktails. A perfect meeting point which overlooks Floral Court, the interior reflects the ever-changing seasons and inspirational floral displays in the courtyard beyond.

We went for the Set Menu Lunch, but were left more than a little disappointed. The Set Menu was very limited with only a choice of mains; a fact that wasn't really explained to us. The Anti pasta simply arrived in 2 tranches with no explanation; so the second tranche was a surprise. Similar was true for the desert - it simply arrived in 2 dishes. We then had to ask for plates to serve the desert.

All things considered the service was below standard, the Set Menu was poor, as was Value.

One to miss.

Service was atrocious. Waited 40 mins for a drink. Limited menu which is fine but lots of things from the menu were unavailable. Stuck us in what felt like a dark corner with a terrible waitress. So disappointing as i’ve dined in the Petersham and loved it. Manager on duty was very good once word reached him but sadly too late.

Food was excellent
Service very poor. This is a constructive criticism!
Staff needs to be better trained. Had to ask for glasses. Waited 15 min for my wine
Had to wait ages for table service for ages.
Given the wrong menu list
Table service was very poor and staff didn’t inform me how the set lunch menu is served
Otherwise the ambience is lovely
Would come back again

We enjoyed the freshest of produce from their own farm. Scrunchy radishes simply halved with softened herb butter, sage leaves stuffed with anchovies and fried, tempura courgette flowers stuffed with ricotta and honey, difficult to choose. And the hake with broad beans and creamed chard was ambrosia. Staff lovely, and we had the loveliest bottle of Gavi, the cheaper one on list.

VERY VERY LIMITED VEGAN OPTIONS - and overpriced radish starter?? 3 pieces initially served for £6 but staff came back with more after we complained..not sure what is the norm though.

Hello Glenda, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I will bring this up with the chef as the radishes are a new dish on the menu and I know he will appreciate the feedback. I will also brief the team on our vegan options as there are several dishes than can be made vegan and the chef is always happy to prepare something to your taste.

The quality of the service was very poor, with a wrongly taken order, which was subsequently lost. Poor service management, with nobody apologising for the error.
Food was ok, but advice could have been given to prevent one of my guests ending up with a main course of a plate of potatoes.

Considering it’s a Petersham restaurant, the standard of food was poor. Quite nice grazing style ‘starters’, but lemons served with the brown mouldy end left on; tomatoes chopped including underripe tough centres, followed by very fatty and gristly and largely inedible pork belly, and badly over cooked, dried out skate wing, supposedly cooked on a wood-fired oven, but tasted like it has been deep-fried for an hour or so.
Service was astonishingly poor, to the point of rudeness.
Really, really disappointing, as I’ve had wonderful experiences both at the Petersham in Covent Garden and in Richmond. It really felt like the poor, unloved relation.

Nice garden setting and the starters on the set menu were very nice, good portions and very tasty. Unfortunately the main course was not as nice; I had the fish and my companion had the pork. My fish was a tiny little piece, could harldy call it main course size. In comparision my friend got a huge amount of the pork, enough for two people. Comparing these two dishes made my fish look even more pathetic next to the pork dish. Very dissapointing. I had to steal some of the pork from my friend to feel full enough, and even then she had some left to take home with us (which they nicely packed up in a box for us).
Service was friendly and fast, so along with the nice setting and nice staters, it was enough to save the evening.

Had lunch for 2 here today.

The food was good and tasty.

The prosecco based cocktails were also good, but quite pricey at £12 each. The carafe of wine which we ordered took forever to reach the table, even after we had asked for it a second time. Indeed we had almost finished eating by the time it arrived. We ordered pudding - strawberrry tart with custard - only to be served a Stawberry panacotta, and when we explained that wasn't what we'd ordered were told that it wasn't available and "it shouldn't have been on the menu".

We declined to pay the 12.5% optional service charge and there was no argument.

In summary La Goccia needs to up its service game - as is clear from reading some of the other reviews here.

Disappointing sadly. Not really comfortable, no music but lots of noise. Like idea of small plates but expected something special for small expensive plates of food. The chicken dish (literally just a grilled chicken breast) was most disappointing of all - can make that at home too. Padron Peppers were great, focaccia horrible (not special at all, cold, small slices) . All in all not what I was expecting at all.

Too expensive and gimmicky, sadly. The ladies loos in the basement were terrible, sorry - considering this is a new restaurant it was all rather shabby. Worst of all was sitting at the bar, watching partly-cooked food being reheated/ 'finished' in the so-called wood burning oven (gas-fired).

Noise levels were very high, possibly due to the acoustics of the building, our table was in the main walkway just behind the bar, it would have been more pleasant to have sat elsewhere on a table more suited for two people.

We had a pre theatre lunch here and it is the perfect place for a light interesting lunch. Service was a little bit slow with our drinks arriving after our starter which was a sublime stuffed courgette flower but once the charming manageress came around all went very smoothly.
Fresh, small plates my Italian friend commended the pasta dish and I had the sole (which I commented needed to be filleted) with a polenta dish. We had a lovely lunch just need to step up a little on the service in terms of speed. The setting is gorgeous and for once a restaurant where you could have a conversation without music. Thank you

Lush green surroundings and good food. We sat outside for a Sunday lunch and the service was poor. We asked two separate members of staff if we could order drinks and then later food. Each time we were told ‘you need to ask your waiter’. The attitude was one of ‘I can’t be bothered to help you’.
The courgette flower with ricotta was a highlight and the seasonality of the food a real feature. Shame the service let it down!
