I’m never one to eat pasta outside the house however this place is an exception. Great fresh pasta which is different to most other places. The staff were amazing and lively as we were able to talk to them and get amazing recommendations on all things italian at the restaurant as well as around Sydney.
The quality of everything is amazing however I won’t lie,I was surprised with the bill at the end of the night. Although you pay for what you get I guess which in this case wasn’t a bad thing!☺️
Great food, reasonable wine, although very loud and busy.
Absolutely fantastic restaurant!
In twrns of noise its part of the experience being intimate and bustling and having part of the kitchen in full view.
Definately recommend for simple yet stunning food and the staff are beautiful
I was really excited as it had such great reviews. But then we arrived at the restaurant and it has tiny tables and small uncomfortable metal stools. There were 4 of us and seating was cosy to say the least. Then our entrees arrived and they were fantastic! But then it took almost 45 minutes for our mains to arrive, after we’d finished our entree’s, even though we all ordered pasta ( the only main choice there is except for special of the day) 2 of us had the lobster pasta special which was good, not great but pretty good, but the other two pasta dishes were not good, pasta hard ( not Al dente but hard as if over cooked then dried out or something weird) and mine was the Italian sausage, broccoli, garlic white wine etc - problem was the broccoli was mushy and really over cooked.
It was a shame as the service was good and very flexible re which pasta you could have with the special ( it came with gnocchi but they allowed my husband to have fettuccine with it instead).
Best Carbonara I have ever had!
Great food & service.
The only negative would be that they pack to many tables into the venue so you feel very cramped.
Had lunch. Delicious, fresh, clean food. Good value.
Would have liked another vegetarian option but there were enough to choose from.
An amazing degustation dinner with the Italian sales consultant for the Tuscan winery also in attendance.
Fabulous food and service always.
Always coming back
It was a 4 Courses $69 ($89 with wine pairing) degustation. We watched the wine being served out like it was Louis Roederer Cristal! My friend said it was a wonder they didn't use an eyedropper. So here we are having a degustation in the middle of all the cheap and cheerful having a bowl of cheap pasta! We thought the entire restaurant would be put aside degustation diners for the evening. Food was ordinary at best. Risotto was bland with pureed asparagus. I use pieces of asparagus in my risotto for more flavour and texture. I'm guessing asparagus is expensive at the moment? Cured kingfish was far too firm as if the curing process had been over extended. My salmon was overcooked and dry - I hate overcooked salmon as I only cook it rare. I informed the waitress of this fact, but received no feedback. The oxtail ravioli contained mozzarella (not mentioned on the menu) which, when combined with the butter & sage sauce, made the dish far too rich. A mistake was made with the desserts, so we had to remain amongst the "fast fooders" longer than anticipated. We only went because we went on Christmas Day for a degustation and it was excellent, but on the basis of this experience I don't think that we will be back again!
Fantastic food served with great Newtown vibe. Excellent experience all round.
We were on friday night for dinner, it was great! The pasta is amazing and Marco was great with his wine suggestion and service!
The desserts were awesome as well!
We’ll come back !
great food and service but the restaurant was tiny and very squishy
The food was tasty but portions very small. The ingredients are so finally chopped its hard to recognise seafood vegs etc.
I think it is a bit overpriced for a basic pasta restaurant with small helpings.
Best Italian in Newtown - finally a restaurant that understands the food instead of trying to make a buck from popular dishes. Marco cared for us well - a busy kitchen with everyone pulling their weight. And very clean. A joy to watch and pleasure to eat.
La Favola is my go to local Italian Restaurant.
It offers a selection of authentic Italian freshly made pasta and sauces that are out of this world!!! My friend tried the gnocchi for the first time & is now a convert to the pillowy bites of potato with the 4 cheese sauce!!! Add on a starter like my go to Carpaccio & home-made focaccia every time & if you can squeeze in dessert there's the cannoli & tiramisu that never disappoints!!!
Top off the amazing food with the hospitality of the owner Fabio & the brilliant wait staff & you feel like you're visiting someone's home!!!
Had a bucks party at la Favola. Very accommodating for a large party. Food was delicious 😋 and the limoncello was tasty!!!
Service staff were fantastic and extremely helpful.
Great vibe and food is on point, will return again
The food was excellent! I had the Norma and my girlfriend had the formaggio, soooo delicious 👌 The table service was outstanding and it’s very reasonably priced, I’ll be back again soon✔️
We had a table of 4 and the experience was absolutely awesome. The head chef fabio is a master of his craft. The meals were faultless. Flavours were amazing. We'll definitely be heading back very soon to try some other menu delights. Its a MUST.
Delish pasta!!!! Super busy and small but they somehow make it work! Will definitely be back
Amazing food & excellent service. The pasta is delicious and the serving sizes are very generous for the price. Would definitely come again!
The food is amazing, and the price is really reasonable. Way too many tables in the restaurant though, my back was literally touching he guys behind me! All that said I’ll definitely be going back
Great meal - would definitely recommend. The gnocchi are amazing.
Loved this place, especially the carbonara and tiramisu. And waitress Alice was the best. Grazie mille!
Yum. If you need to do some quality carb loading, this is the place.
Best pasta in Sydney, excellent products' quality, perfect service.
I went to Favola for the first time on Saturday night to celebrate my birthday. The food was excellent and the staff were amazing. Very professional, very friendly and gave us recommendations on what to order and what wines would match. I highly recommend Favola if you are a lover of good pasta and Italian cuisine. I'm from an Italian background and very fussy about my pasta. It was sensational. So was the antipasto and the carpaccio was also very good. The only thing I would say is that its a very small restaurant so I'd probably book as its very popular and there was a queue out the door on Saturday night.
Its also very noisy so if you're after an intimate dinner perhaps dont go on a Saturday night. Will i go again? You bet I will. Thank you for a great night.
Probably my favourite Italian restaurant in the world
We sat on a table next to the kitchen, as our booking didn’t seem to be present. However, the service from the chef himself was amazing and all of the other waiters/waitresses. They were completely on top of everything and the chef was super friendly, informative and fun! The food was amazing
Good service. Delicious food. Definitely will be returning!
A nice surprise, the food and service were impeccable. The baked cheese entree is a must!
Fantastic dinner! The food (bruschetta and two pastas) was truly original and exceptional. Thank you to the talented chefs Michele and Luca!
Overall experience was good.
We were unhappy as we were charged $16 for a shot of frangellico we didn’t have. Only realised when we got home and it was too far to go back.
Also vegan option pasta was more expensive than regular pasta, not great value for money..
Delicious food... we had baked eggplant parmigiana and Broccoli sausage pasta which was perfectly cooked.... great staff, great atmosphere..
The best Italian we’ve had ! The service from time to time can be a little lacking but generally great. The food is phenomenal and the tiramisu is incredible. Be sure to try the Crema limoncello also.
Excellent service of just average food.
Very overpriced for simple food that is nothing special. Very disappointed.
Had high hopes but my pasta was overcooked and the sauce lacked flavour and needed seasoning. A very crowded space so consistently being bumped by other patrons and staff.
Great fresh, vibrant food.. Slightly small and can get packed but good atmosphere.
Discovered this place in November 2018, and it’s been a regular haunt ever since. The food is wonderful, the selection of wines excellent (small range, but a perfect combination of quality Italian and Australian labels). Service is lively and helpful. No pressure to leave quickly, which is very welcome given the size of the place and its popularity. The booking system on-line is a dream — easy to use, and precise and quick. Highly, highly recommended — interstate visitors I’ve introduced to this gem of a restaurant have made a beeline back to it each time they visit!
