I went with my daughter and we loved it. On the third night of our weekend in Dublin and having eaten pizza and Thai on our first two nights, this was to be our 'treat' and it didn't disappoint.
We chose a shared dish of salted almonds as our starter and we both had the lamb rack for our main course. What we particularly liked was the fact that the lamb was beautifully cooked, medium rare, served with lovely roasted new potatoes and kale, and the portion was just right. A couple of glasses of Primitivo each to accompany and coffee afterwards and it was just over 30 euros a head, so not cheap but good value for lovely food, nicely served in really atmospheric surroundings.
Absolutly great evening. Food, wine and service perfect!.
Booked dinner @ La Cucina for a treat for myself and the other half (Friday 29th Nov), and I *so* wanted to love it.
Beautiful, atmospheric setting, with romantic low lighting and a relaxed atmosphere set. Front of House staff were lovely - warm and welcoming.
Wait staff were excellent from the beginning. Our wine order was promptly taken once we were seated, as were our food orders.
Starters were beautiful, particularly the prawns. We had high expectations for the mains - 2 8oz fillets, requested "rare".
Unfortunately, the fillets arrived cooked medium at best. While the meat was of superb quality, the over-cooking spoiled the experience completely. The roasted herb baby potatoes were very tasty, but again somewhat ruined when we realised that a couple of under-cooked potatoes had made their way into the meal. Tenderstem broccoli was fantastic: flavoursome and cooked to perfection.
I understand that we could have mentioned the over-cooked meat at the time, but we were pushed for time and we were extremely hungry. La Cucina also seemed to be exceptionally busy that night, as waiters were constantly running back and forth between the restaurant and Farrier&Draper with what looked like party food. We didn't want to make a big deal out of the situation and cause hassle for the staff.
However - we did feel that for €32.00 per fillet, we were well within our rights to expect a properly cooked steak of a very high standard.
Dessert was Bailey's cheesecake. What arrived (eventually) was a hard mass of flavourless...something. I suspect there were issues on the night with the cheesecake, and our waiter very graciously removed it from the menu without promoting.
Overall, we were very dissapointed with our experience. We were geared up for a lovely meal and had been looking forward to it for a couple of weeks. I stress again that this was a massive treat for us, and we rarely get out for dinner, as we rarely have the money to do so. I can't say I will return :-(
Excellent food and a lovely setting. Service was very professional.
Really lovely atmosphere and vibe for our anniversary dinner. Food was amazing, especially the Sea Bream special. Highly recommended.
Great early bird menu. Lovely ambiance. Excellent service
Superb from start to finish. A warm welcome, efficient and friendly service, sublime food, we had a really terrific evening and will be returning soon
Great setting and great bar above for a pre dinner drink. Felt a little early for Christmas music though! However we really enjoyed our meal and the ambience and would return. Delicious burrata starter stands out
Very tasty food and friendly staff !!
I’d definitely recommend it to a friend.
Nice food ambiance excellent and service really good
We arrived 15 minutes early 19.45 and were told abruptly by the hostess we are too early and they are running 10 minutes late- no offer to sit at the bar and wait- First impression rather rude! The restaurant was chosen based on previous food reviews and it’s quirky design. We came back 20.10 and still we had to wait-this time for a few minutes. We decided on two starters, a risotto and sea bream as main courses as well a bottle of white wine for €45. Our starter of artisan bread was served immediately and the wine we ordered was warm and not chilled! The waiter offered to put in extra ice and apologised, that they don’t have any ‘Gavi’ chilled, but the ice cube will do the trick! we were left with just water , bread an warm wine. Ca 10 minutes later, another waiter came and ask us if he could open the wine and we complained that the wine is warm and the few ice cubes would not chill the wine quick enough. Having ordered a €45 bottle of white wine you would expect for this to be chilled. Another waitress appeared who was nice and apologised and offered us to choose a different chilled wine. we decided on a different option. our main courses were served: risotto and sea bream with a side salad. Both main courses were tasty and we enjoyed our food and wine. When we just finished our main course, we were offered dessert. we asked we need a bit of time to let the main course set and enjoy the wine. Ca 10 minutes later our waiter came back and apologised but he had to serve us the bill now! No offer if we are ready now for a dessert or coffee We still had 1/2 bottle of wine left and were asked to pay our bill! We complained we had to wait more than 10 minutes for our table on arrival, an expensive white wine served warm and not being able to finish the rest of the wine and asked to leave is simply rude! We’ve asked if we could at least finish our wine, but he left and put the bill on table! So we gulped down the wine in one go, paid and left after 1 hour!
It was good ! Food amazing and the service friendly!
Lovely cosy spot with excellent service and food. Wine list was superb too. Definitely our favorite Italian and dine out place in Dublin
Great hospitality of the staff here! We were welcomed very nicely and served very well.
The ambience is lovely and the only negative point for me is the overpriced price of wine - 9€ per glass. Food was good and well presented!
Food was very nice but not worth the price the lamb dish was cold when it came out as it was not on a plate but a board and the side of potatoes where not cooked through.
The service was excellent from start to finish. The food was amazing as per usual. Would return every weekend if I could.
Hey all, look this is tough to write as the staff and the location was lovely, but to be honest the food was ok at best. The restaurant is very well designed and the tables were well placed. Its cozy and clean and the restrooms were excellent. We had two starters and two mains and 1 dessert and 1 bottle of wine. My starter and main to be fair were tasty and enjoyable even though I chose simply as wasnt that hungry so it was a prawn start and main with linguine, as I said nice but simple. My partner has bruscetta starter which was overpowered with garlic and soggy, she chose the seafood special which sounded amazing, unfortunately it didn't deliver, the mussels were just ok and most of her clams were closed and the calamari was chewy and rubbery, it was served on tagliatelle and to be honest the sauce was tasteless. I tried it and I'm not that keen on seafood but the sauce was just bland. So for a "special" it was disappointing. The staff were attentive and friendly but when my partner hadn't finished her meal which was clear to the server as it just wasnt nice the lady offer to box it up to take home, now granted we should have said at that time that it wasnt nice but it was late and we were heading off soon anyway and weren't going to eat another main at that hour. The desert we share was a delicious ganache and the coffee(expresso) I had was lovely. The last bit of dissatisfaction was that although the food was very reasonably priced. The wine menu starts at €39 for the cheapest bottle of red. While we dont mind paying for decent wine when out. For a quick meal late at night it was more than we expected as the food was so well priced. The wine was nice but not great. Overall we enjoyed the experience and the location is nice, but sadly I dont think we will return. To finish as I said the staff were polite and attentive but sadly the rest let us down.
It was a cool location. We had a lovely meal. The food was tasty and the service was good.
We enjoyed the dinner and would like to recommend to my friends.
It was reasonable dishes and services. We could not find good restaurant in Dublin but it was one of better restaurants.
Interior gave good impression when we arrived. Food was reasonable, better than others I experienced in Dublin. Volume was as expected and good for Japanese.
Wine we chose according to recommendation was good with reasonable price.
One thing I think to improve was that they accepted order but actually they could not deliver all and asked us to change some of main dishes.
Staff were lovely and I wouldn’t fault them however I did not feel it was good value for money. Portions were very small. I had the chicken which came on it’s own on the plate and asked for a side salad which was 4.50
Extra and consisted of rocket leaves only with a sprinkling of Parmesan cheese on top.
Atmosphere was great, design inside is neat with all of the stone walls.
Food was good. My Mum ordered a spicy pasta dish which was really, really spicy and does not like spice, but they offered to make her something brand new. It was disclosed as spicy in the menu, so our fault!
Pana Cotta was lovely with Rhubard and good selection of wines. Would eat here again!
would have been nice to get offered tap water not to pay for a bottle of water,i found it hard to see the menu lighting was not great,i dont think i got what i ordered but that didnt matter it was so nice
We happened upon La Cucina in a brief stop in Dublin in May 2019 and had such a great dinner we took their card and promised ourselves we’d come back. We did and it was just as great as the first visit. We very well might come again before we leave Dublin this trip. Wonderful food, great service. World class
It was Our first time in La Cucina but definitely not our last.
Five Star 🌟 Service , excellent food and ambience . Our steaks, pasta, prawns, anti pasta staters, desserts were all fantastic 👍
The decor was interesting. A little too dark for my liking. The service was outstanding as was the food.
The best steak I've had in a very long time. Really nice ambience and an amazing space. Perfect for an intimate evening.
The Best Service
The Bet Food
I really enjoyed my evening here.
Last minute decision to go out, and had only visited la cucinda once before with a large group.
Setting is very comfortable, and easy to converse.
Food was very nice, and attention was just right, not feeling forgotten, yet not overpowering.
Will be back.
Great atmosphere combined with fantastic service . The food is good too . Big selection of drinks and serves pints👍 , Guinness , Moretti , Heineken etc . Went to the lovely music bar behind restaurant afterwards for a dance. Overall a great night .
Lovely food. Lovely atmosphere and attentive staff. Will be back for sure.
Such a beautiful restaurant from the people working there, to the food and setting! We had such an amazing service the whole way throughout the dinner. We ordered seafood pasta and king prawns for starter and we will definitely be returning for those dishes, wow! Wine was also very very good. From start to finish couldn't recommend this place more.
Lovely staff and food very good but too dark to read menu etc. Overall great place to eat.
Booking for 8.30. Table was not available. Had to wait. I asked for a table out front but was put down the back. The waitress was very nice and sorted it out.
I don't like eating at 10. Too late
Lovely meal with friends ... casual & relaxed with a great view & great service
Great service and a lovely ambience. The staff were attentive but not annoying. And the food was top notch. Also.. the music!! All the Motown classics. I love this place! Especially the early bird option. It’s a great deal.
Patrick our waiter was fantastic! He made us feel so welcome & was happy for us and our celebrations! The atmosphere I’m the restaurant is so nice. Food was delightful. The only downside was the portions were smaller than expected. Would still highly recommend La Cucina!
Generally very bad value. Drinks far too expensive!!
Arrived to a very warm and professional welcome. Excellent friendly and helpful service all round. Excellent food👌 and wine. We will definitely be back and highly recommend la cucina
Good pint of Guinness!
What more do you need!
