Find us in the heart of Flinders Lane, a stones throw from Flinders Street Station and Federation Square, and discover three levels of dining. Our modern sushi bar and restaurant sit in the basement and ground floor, while Kuro Kisumé sits discreetly on the first level. Kuro, our most bespoke experience, encompasses The Table, two private dining rooms, an elegant Chablis bar and Winewall specially-curated by Philip Rich.
We went for dinner on the first night of our honeymoon! The staff was very nice and accommodating and we very much so enjoyed sitting at the sushi bar for our sushi dinner
great experience sitting st bar watching the chefs at work
The food and service were good, but we wait so long from on course to the other. And the portion size is not what we expected. We were more full from drinking than food.
Spectacular food as usual. Ambiance is one of the best in Melbourne. Service was a little tardy in terms of water and drink refills - our table of five found ourselves asking rather than staff offering.
Outstanding dining experience. The service and ingredients were second to none. We will definitely be returning!
The food is decent however incredibly overpriced, there are much better and less pretentious options available for fine Japanese dining in Melbourne. Service is inconsistent and cold.
Amazing meal as always! Which is why I come back to kisumè any time I can...its just a shame about some of the staff being uneducated on Japanese cuisine. my partner asked if there was a particular dish on the menu and the staff member was quite rude in his response to my partner (who speaks Japanese) saying he has “no idea what that is” quite arrogantly suggesting my partner was wrong. I had to ask to get another staff member to assist us who understands Japanese. It was very uncomfortable seeing my partner spoken to in such a way
Absolute best dining experience with sensational food.
My oldest and dearest girlfriends joined me for dinner on Friday night. We had an excellent experience with service and the food, however we found the music to be incongruous with the environment and overly loud. Also the lighting above the table was very harsh and too strong. For all the effort that has gone into this venue, these small
Details have a significant impact on the quality of the experience.
Would recommend. However they must have had a hard night. Front of house did not know where to seat us even though we had booking. Took us to several seats and sat me in another patrons chair whilst she was in restroom. Opened the wrong bottle of champagne. Slapped the food in front of us and gave me the bill before we had finished. Strange experience...
Nice food, but didn't really wow me. Staff were lovely.
Excellent menu although some serves are slightly small in size.
Kisume is a special experience of high quality Japanese food served in a well balanced ambiance. Thoroughly enjoyable.
Amazing Japanese food!!
Great food and service! Sat at the bar - great atmosphere! The wag Yu truffles sensational
Unfortunately I found the service to be quite rough. It wasn’t very friendly, it was quite awkward or rushed. I also work in hospitality as a chef so I was excited to try the food! However I found the service ruined it for me... sorry :/ I didn’t want to write a bad review!
The service was terrible, I had to ask a waiter every time I needed a top up for a a new pot of hot water - this was needed to be repeated at least five times for myself and for my companions. Even though, I had taken the lid off the pot , they continued to ignore it. The only time they asked me if I wanted another drink was when it was alcoholic. Very disappointing and a very short sighted business approach.
We've dined in the evening at Kisume and our experience was outstanding. Our lunchtime dining experience was not as high in the quality of customer service - servers seemed less polished, didn't pick up on cues and didn't seem to have level experience that the night staff do. When we dined mid-year in the evening, the team were fun and service was excellent. It was a bit disappointing given you're still paying grown-up prices but without the grown-up service we'd come to expect. We'll still be back though - the food was outstanding as usual!
My girlfriend and I went here for her birthday and all in all it was a fantastic experience. I definitely think that the sushi is quite expensive for how much you get but was very good quality (considering my girlfriend is Japanese but thought the sushi was amazing, you know it has to be pretty good). My personal favourite was the wagyu truffle balls but I wasn’t the biggest fan of the angus sirloin as it was pretty cold by the time it came out to me.
The greeting and host was 5/5n very warmly and the table seating and restaurant was very beautiful. The food was quite goood however I didn't get full from the 120 pp set menu. There was no fork/knife setup when the steak came out. The plate was cold so the steak got cold quite quickly. The waiter who gave us a list of cocktails bar was quite delightful. Overall 4/5 experience. Would still recommend
Superb food, amazing vegetarian options. Couldn’t fault a meal.
Love this place. Every dish we had was outstanding and very fresh. The truffle oysters and kingfish sashimi were stand outs. Couldn't fault a thing.
Beautiful food and amazing service. Quite small portion sizes considering the price. Overall really good. We will be back.
The food is very good and a wonderful wine list as long as you don’t mind spending upwards of $100 per person.
The best food ever!! So fresh and so delicious. One on my favourite restaurants I’ve ever been too and the price is reasonable too!! Totally worth it
the chinese staff Discrimination chinese people
and lts my fist time come
no one tall me anything include where is the food menu
the chinese staff bad attitude
she is a woman
Walked out as the kitchen was out of order. Over 50% menu including all the sides not available. Would have been better customer service if we had been notified beforehand, rather than after we have arrived and was seated. Totally ruined my birthday celebrations and ended up having to cancel another booking planned after dinner. No offer to re-book or customer service at all.
Didn't get to try any of the food, so can't comment on that. Very disappointing!
Simply put: over rated.
Tuna Tataki is amazing, my favourite dish - everything is good!
Spending over two hours in a fine restaurant for dinner is unacceptable!
The waiter he had was very knowledgeable and explained the menu very well, everything we chose was superb, we will definitely come back, your choice of wines was ok, we would have liked more choices.
Wonderful food and excellent service.
Excellent, stylish dining experience.
Expensive but very memorable!
Extremely tasty. Went for the middle degustations which was plenty of food and reasonably priced. Would happily go back again!
great food and great service.
awesome job by the sushi chef. amazed with his knife skills and presentation.
Nice dinner with friends. Food was good but not outstanding for the price. Gritty dirt still on the cos lettuce - notified staff who told us that they spend “hours” cleaning the lettuce! Obviously not... Service was average.
Went for a friend's birthday dinner and we had the degustation option while facing the hot food kitchen. It was a nice experience and the food was quite outstanding.
Unfortunately, the selection is standard compare to other Japanese restaurants. The only reason we were abit disappointed was due to the hype of the website and the promise of quality dishes.
We had agedashi tofu but we can't find any crab and it was soggy. It was not a better rendition of the original.
We did enjoy the steak and the crispy wagu beef ball was a good surprised but the serving is abit small.
The service was good but the wine took awhile to come after we've ordered. The person who took our wine order was different to the one who served us food, she was amazing in her service and did a very good job in adding value to our experience.
It might be better to focus on simple ingredients and execute well then adding luxury items in the dish with little value add to the taste.
Being in Melbourne means one can find really good restaurants with good value for food. We are willing to pay the price even if the meal is small if the taste and creativity of the dish is justify. Understand tastes is personal and it just didn't suit us at this visit.
Love the ambience Kisume delivers. Fantastic, high quality food. Perfect for a special event.
Great meal, some really good flavours! Best sushi I’ve had in a while!
