Delverde Pasta Stars
Had to wait 50 mins for a tasteless piece of cotoletta and coleslaw. The waiting staff obviously forgot to place the order but no apologies. Very disappointing after good earlier experiences.
An institution for a reason - the staff, the ambience, and the food were all exquisite. We can’t wait to come back again.
Excellent service, good simple food. Had the caponata and burrata. Overall good though the caponata was a little wide of mark.
Roast chicken was 5 star.
Meals are quite small considering their cost
Very enjoyable spot, we love the food & will keep returning. Can get busy so suggest you book. Beautiful food to takeaway too 😋🥇
Excellent attentive service. Wonderful food. Look forward to returning.
Booking was easy. Service & Food excellent.
Our friends also throughly enjoyed everything.
This visit was meant to be a special occasion for my daughter's birthday so pardon my frank review.
- no service (like, at all). The lady that seated us, did not even talk to us - forget greeting us.
- ordered food not delivered
- no help with the menu
- ridiculous pricing for the whole experience
King & Godfree serve delicious, quality food (my penne, for instance, were al dente perfection) but the dining experience is pretty average: inattentive staff, long wait times for no apparent reason, and the prices are on the high size particularly in relation to portion size. I suggest that they're hoping their reputation will make up for what's lacking
Great wine and deli bar with different spaces to suit any demographic.
Loved our meal last night, we had the chicken which was the best chicken I have ever eaten. Ambiance just right for a casual dinner that felt a little more special. Service perfect.
Perfect lunch for a catch up! Service fantastic, wonderful pasta and focaccia. I love the relaxed and friendly feeling of this place!
Delicious food, great atmosphere, excellent service.
We arrived on a cold day & it was also rather cold inside, due to doors being left open. Menu choice was great as was ambiance & staff, however for us that’s where it stopped! My burrata salad had tasteless pieces of tomato which also made the dressing watery. My mother had pasta served in a small entree bowl and what looked and tasted like a jar of tomato purée on top.
Fine for local place to enjoy dinner after a film.
Excellent service in a warm, friendly setting.
Staff were attentive . Food was fab! Lovely way to spend Mother’s Day with mum !
Set menu was delicious & generous in serving though limited in variety & accommodation to dietary requirements. Service was very good!
Loved the zucchini ricotta pasta - very nice. However I was still hungry after eating - I am a young female dont usually have very big portions. I initially thought I must have ordered an entree accidently - for the price and its a vegetarian meal - no meat, I thought it would be a larger serve.
Partner had a veal cotoletta with slaw. He likes the slaw but veal was tough, a sauce would have be nice with it also.
Wines were great. Service was good.
I was very cold where I was sitting - we were second table from the door. This made me want to leave the restaurant as soon as I finished my meal to go somewhere warm.
I would recommend to a friend based on the zucchini ricotta pasta - but still I think the serve isnt good value.
I was disappointed in the quality of the food. My veal cutlet was burnt and my friend's panini crust was heavy to eat. Our personal service was good.
Great food, service and atmosphere - a great option on this part of the Lygon strip...
It was a lovely catch-up with friends and family and King and Godfree was a good venue.
Staff were very obliging and friendly although could have been a little more attentive.
Food was good, without being great: calamari fritti had very little flavour and one of the specialties porcchetta was delicious but served with pesto (whatever happened to gravy) accompanied by artichoke and bean salad absolutely smothered in pesto; in terms of value for money, the cost was at the upper end - the veal chop was $32!
As before, we enjoyed our time at K&G but I do think there are other venues that represent better value for money.
I hope these comments may be useful to G&K
Wonderful atmosphere, great service and food. King and Godfrey’s make the best Aperol Spitzers in Melbourne.
I would have preferred to donate money to the restaurant rather than feel like a fool to pay $39 for ONE dry crumbed veal cutlet. My 20 year old son was still hungry. My husband's pasta main of Bucatini amatriciana, guanciale, chili was a disappointing kid's size. He was still hungry. The lasagne and eggplant parma were nice. The arancini, calamari and octopus entrees we shared were reasonably priced but nothing special to eat. I was so looking forward to Easter Sunday lunch here but was so disappointed.
While we had a lovely time, on a day that wasn't very busy our drinks didn't arrive until our food had been delivered and we had to ask for them. Then one of our dishes didn't arrive until we asked after everything else. We also had to ask for water on a few occasions. While the service was pleasant the servers themselves were a little offhand.
Disappointed. Entre and main course arrived at the same time. Entre was cold (bruscheta and over priced) and main course (Lasagne) was not hot.
Beautiful lightly battered calamari, toothsome chargrilled octopus and nicely presented salad. Good value wines by the glass.
Love this place. Staff were so friendly a d helpful. The food hearty, great quality and tasty. Authentic Italian. A great all rounder. Classy Lygon St Italian deli atmosphere. Can’t fault it!
The opening up of the seating area was good.
Some staff were confused with table delivery of drinks & food. Also received meals for 3 and had to wait for the 4th meal.
Luv anchovies but dish not good valve, otherwise food delicious.
Overall excellent, we were outside as such the heaters were over powering
Modern, noisy venue but visually appealing. Quite attentive floor staff, of which there are many, but very slow wine service which was disappointing. The food was reasonable but not exceptional in amy way.
Unfortunately we had 1hr and 40 minutes only as need to get to a show. Took ages to even get a drink at first and just as long to order food.
Entrees came out with one item missing, but then a big gap and no mains. Had to ask 2 separate waitresses to look into it. 2nd was helpful and got the meal coming. We made it to the show just as the first word was spoken.
Beautiful outdoor seating on a warm evening. The service drinks and food were all great!
The setting and food were lovely, unfortunately the waitress seemed angry and inconvenienced by the diners.
Used to come here a lot pre 2020 lockdowns. Completely understand that many businesses have been seriously affected by covid and some have struggled to keep going -so happy to support through patronage and even modest price increases. This place, however, is now serving significantly smaller portions, the menu options have changed, the quality is not what it was, and some of the drinks are literally half the size for the same price. The Happy Hour has been abolished and from my recent visits have taken the vibe with it. So, I reckon if I were K & G I'd be rethinking strategy as I'm definitely, after giving it a few goes now, no longer in a hurry to return and my 20 something daughters who loved to pop in even less inclined now. The manager (I assume) could also do with a short course in customer service. Really disappointed as it's been one of my favourite places for a while. Hope they find a way to recapture what they've lost.
Service was terrible. We had the longest delays between each individuals food being brought out. For a table of four, two of the guests had finished eating their meals before the other meals came out for the remaining two. No one apologised for the delay, just kept insisting that it would be two more minutes until it was out. It was more like 30 minutes.
The food was not great. We had the fish of the day which was $38 and was a tiny piece of fish and some lettuce. The minestrone was the consistency of water with a few chopped up bits of vegetables. There was no pasta inside which is typical of minestrone.
I've been a few times to K&G and I think it is consistently getting worse.
Yummy food but the pasta was tiny for the price it was! Bit disappointing because we had a great time otherwise
Lovely staff and amazing interior however the food available at lunch was a bit flavourless and underwhelming. There weren’t as many options available in the restaurant as there were advertised online. If there was more flavour in the food then it’d be a 10/10.
Great food and ambiance. Wait staff were a little too attentive, hovering and asking to remove plates that still had food on them - several times.
I had dined in King and Godfree in the previous week and found that was a complete contrast to this week. The previous week, service was excellent. This week, we were left with our menus and had to ask more than one staff member to take our order. The previous week we had water served when we arrived and then staff topped up our glasses. This week I had to ask for water! They were never refilled! When our meals arrived we had no cutlery. The staff member who brought our meal actually commented, “hasn’t anyone brought you cutlery?”It was a disappointing dining experience. I may come back given previous good experience. But I had hoped it would be a lovely outing for an older friend and was seriously let down on this occasion.
food portions were extremely small for what the price and tables are extremely small
