Unbelievable authentic food. Great sake and plum wine.
the food was very tasty, especially Nigiri. all staff is very professional and nice.
Amazing Japanese food. One of the best in London.
Fantastic service as well.
Wonderful super fresh Japanese food
Aubergine very good
Very helpful pleasant staff with the food prepared by the master chef and his chef
Excellent authentic Japanese food for a good price. Will definitely be back. Iced green tea should be refillable though.
Having lived in Tokyo for a couple of years, sometimes you just hanker for the real thing and make no mistake, this is it! Sushi/Sashimi restaurants such as this were out of our price range in Tokyo and while Kikuchi's prices represent good value for money, you'll need to be pretty comfortably off if you want to make it a frequent destination.
The decor is restful and imbued with Japanese elegance, service helpful-I could have lived without the background music, but this is a very minor quibble-and the food, which came incredibly quickly, was impeccable.
The sashimi/sushi menu is reasonably extensive, but some favourites (octopus, akagai, hokigai and egg) weren't represented. The fish quality was outstanding.
The sushi came with guidance-no soy for the salmon roe (already cured) or the turbot (traditionally sprinkled with salt) and a brush for painting soy on the remaining pieces. The miso soup was filled with taste, the tempura light and crispy, the aubergine with sweet miso soft as babaganoush and sweet like chestnut or sweet potato. The kushikatsu breaded rolls of pork around a filling of perilla leaf and chopped pickled plum had a great crunch, a savoury start then developing with the sour umeboshi and the aromatic perilla-I loved it, which was just as well as my partner not so keen on the sourness. We stuck with beer, so unable to comment on the sake, but we would absolutely go again for a special occasion.
Great small restaurant with staff eager to help with ordering
A privilege to be served and have the food prepared by the master chef
Fish extremely good reflected in the costs but well worth it
Looking forward to returning
Paid £288 for two and at this price point there are better options
It’s one of authentic Japanese places in London.
This was the first visit since I stopped going there 3-4years ago.
Luckily it wasn’t packed there as it was rainy Monday. I think it used to be always busy before though.
All of the chefs and waitresses are Japanese, but not that friendly, so this hasn’t changed.
Quality of food is ok. Not excellent. Somehow I didn’t feel it that fresh as I found all of food that I had then at the room temperature.
Normally in Japanese food culture, right coldness/warmness of the dishes are quite important.
Anyway food is authentic here but not the best. Location is great. It’s worth trying if you like or miss authentic Japanese.
The food was great. Best sushi so far in London. The staff were tense as the chief waitress sounded harsh on the other waitresses/waiters, which made me a little uncomfortable.
The sushi was excellent. I also enjoyed the seaweed salad. Overall an enjoyable experience.
Fantastic place, great service, amazing food, just great. Everything was lovely. Not cheap but worth every penny!
The service was good and the waitresses were attentive. The food was good, not excellent. My main criticism is regarding the price of most dishes on the menu. I don't mind paying premium prices when it's justifies but that's not the case here. In my view the food is over-priced.
Food is the star here. Reminded ya of sushi in Tokyo! Very fresh, rice cooked perfectly and perfect fish to rice proportion.
Get the spicy tuna roll, chu toro and aburi salmon. Prawn tempura was also great!
We were traveling in London and our daughter was in the mood for sushi. We love omakase at small, intimate restaurants, not the large, fancy factories. Kikuchi was perfect. Service was impeccable, the menu extensive with so much more beyond sushi. And the sushi was as good as the sushi we’ve had in Ginza. The fish was superb, but we must say the quality of the rice was outstanding. We could taste every single grain. Amazing attention to detail. My wife had the chawan mushi and said it was the best she has ever had. Too bad we do not live in London as we would be eating here every week!
Great food! You pay for it, but it's worth it. Best sushi we've had in ages
Bad uni. This spoilt the entire meal. Staff shrugged shoulders upon mention. Overpriced.
The very best very fatty tuna I have tasted in years! The sake selection is of the highest quality and the staff attentive at all times. Not the cheapest place to eat but you certainly get what you pay for, food of exemplary quality!
Very authentic Japanese cuisine. The price is a bit expensive but it worths a try
The most authentic sushi restaurant in London. I have tried a lot of type of Japanese restaurant and sushi restaurants but this is the best so fat. If you want to taste real high end sushi restaurant’s quality of food as good as you can in Japan, you must go to Kikuchi. If you are not familiar with sea urchin or any other authentic Japanese sushi seafood, maybe better to go different place but this is the best sushi place in London.
Whilst not as stylish as other London Japanese restaurants such as Roka, the food is very good and worth visiting for the food alone.
Excellent food and great service. The chefs selection was varied and fish very fresh. Was a little expensive.
Amazing in every way
Sat at the counter and had the £100 per head Omakase menu. Great value for money. Definitely recommended. Wonderful selection of sashimi and sushi - otoro, sea bass, mackarel, squid, turbot and more! Highlights for me were the yellowfin sashimi and the tuna sushi. This is my 2nd visit and my fave is still the seared very fatty tuna (otoro) sushi. Dreamy! Officially my favourite sushi place in London.
One of the most authentic Japanese restaurants I have been to
Excellent sushi and sashimi. The fatty tuna sashimi, the sea urchin sushi and the sole were particularly enjoyable. A bit too much wasabi on the prawn and squid sashimi. The service was perfect.
Great to enjoy Japanese food here，good for value.
Fresh and delicious food
In my opinion this is the best Sushi in London
Sit at the bar and order the premium Omakase if you like to see masters at work
I used to work in Tokyo as a pâtissier for 2 years and am very picky about food, and I would say this is the best authentic Japanese restaurant in London!
My boyfriend who is a French chef also gives very high comments on this restaurant.
Considering the quality of its food, it’s about the same price range as in similar restaurants in Tokyo.
We will definitely come back regularly. Thanks :))) ごちそさまでした！
came not knowing about the £40 minimum order per person, but the food was very good and did not disappoint
Excellent authentic Japanese food
Sushi was amazing. Tasty over all. I’ll definitely go back.
very slow service, drinks especially very expensive, although food good
Flawless. For what it was the price was correct. Probably some of if not the best sushi we’ve ever had - and we’ve been to Japan. The head sushi chef was the don. Waiting staff really nice too. My gf enjoyed her 30th birthday very much.
The excellent owner cheff (proper Japanese cheff) behind the sushi counter and wonderful service by the staff!
Fresh food, good service :)
