As always, Kendall's after the theatre, was wonderful!
The food was delicious, the service excellent. But the acoustics and close seating make it very noisy. It was difficult to carry on a conversation without shouting. It doesn't make for a relaxing meal.
THIS IS A special place when attending the theater. A little pricy but well worth it.
We were there, like many people, to see a play at Ahmanson. Our waitress was very attentive and provided excellent service. My beef stew was great. My granddaughter’s avocado salmon on toast and tomato soup were wonderful also. This almost made up for our last reservation that 15 minutes before we arrived we were notified that it wasn’t full menu; only appetizers! Happy to enjoy the full menu.
Had lunch at the bar. We had theater tickets and the bartender got us out in plenty of time.
Very nice pre-theatre meal. Even though we were late for our reservation, they held our table and made sure we made our 8:00 show. Not a cheap meal, but very nice.
Sitting in a different part of the restaurant this occasion we were pleasantly surprised that Israel was our waiter. He, as always made the dinner before theater a success again. He remembers our drink order from the last time we were here for theater at the Ahmanson and had them served to use in no time at all. His suggestions of new items on the menu was so very helpful and we will try some of the others the next visit.
Dinner before a play at the Ahmanson. Excellent service. Delicious food.
I have a theater subscription and I generally eat there before the show. I have an issue where are sitting in chairs is uncomfortable for me so I always request a booth. In the reservation it always says it “must be a booth.” There is generally a reserved sign on one of the booths. We arrived several minutes early and no booths were available
This is the first time it was a problem.
They comped us a drink and told us we could wait for a booth. A quick glance around the restaurant showed that everyone was recently seated and was probably going to the same show as we were and we would not make the show if we waited for a booth so we compromised.
Comping a drink was a nice touch but nonetheless...
Convenient to the Music Center. Otherwise, I'm not a fan.
service wasn't as good as usual but still good and the food was excellent as always
Nice menu for pre-matinee brunch.
Consistently good food and service.
The first question our waiter asked was, ‘Do you have a performance to attend at 8:00 pm?’ We responded that we did and the service was excellent. We were given bread, water, and a bottle of wine within minutes of arriving. We were still on our salad when the entree came and the waiter indicated that he would comeback with our food when we were finished. We received attentive, friendly and competent care. Arriving at 6:45, we received the check at 7:45. The food was delicious, we were in a quiet room, the restaurant is large, lovely and welcoming.
Kendall's has a varied menu fit for all dietary needs and is always courteous, and attentive to their patrons. I always enjoy myself when I dine here and it is my "go to eatery" when I have a theatre performance at The Music Center. Thank you for always taking such good care of me and my friends!
Excellent service, great menu, wonderful ambiance. Always an enjoyable experience befor a concert or theater event. Thanks !!
Tables are too close together. Can heard other conversations.
Fabulous pre-performance meal!
Perfect location for a pre theater meal if going to the Ahmanson. Good , not great, French food. a bit over priced but you are paying for the prime location.
The food was to die for! Steak tartare and the best garlic fries ever! Not to mention the meringue! Will be back
Wonderful food, great service. The duck frites are delicious
It was wonderful as usual. Love this place. We sat at the bar this time wonderful
Excellent meal and service.
Love this place for dining bedsore a show.
I’ve been to this restaurant three times because it’s conveniently located by the theater. The service is exceptional and I love the look and decor but the food is mediocre.
Really great food and a nice , close location to dine before the theater. Love the pork loin and endive salad, always tasty and healthy.
Birthday and Pre theatre brunch. Food was very good. Service slower than usual. It took forever to
receive birthday special dessert. That kind of spoiled the birthday fun. We come before each play. We had brought my sister for her birthday. Service kind of spoiled the mood.
Service very slow and not very accommodating. We were expected to eat off dirty plates from our salad course and we had to ask for clean plates. Then they took we are serving pieces. The host tried to give us s table in noisy room to which I objected. It was not a pleasant experience.
Great location! Made a reservation, was seated right away. Nice ambiance , good food, drinks, service. Our dinner came out very quick despite the restaurant being busy. After dinner walked right upstairs to the Music Center. Would definitely go back.
All excellent. Our server was fantastic!
Love this place! We come before heading to theater and have always been delighted with the food, service and ambience.
The restaurant looks like it should be part of a hotel, decor is not great.
The prices are crazy expensive for what you get I had a tiny piece of fish and it cost $39.
It’s really convenient if you are going to the theatre. If you don’t mind spending a lot of money for mediocre food.
As usual, a great experience. Arrived on time, seated immediately, quick, attentive service and delicious food. Finished in time for a leisurely stroll to the Ahmanson Theater. A perfect evening!
Outstanding as always. Great Plymouth gin martini. Wonderful oysters, terrific steak frite and the hard to find and worth the effort to seek it out Ile flotant, or floating island.
Great food and service. Nice ambience and a delicious dessert. What else is there.
Ordered the barramundi....very fishy...while we did not complain... the manager sensed we were less than dazzled he comped our dessert! So THAT was nice. I suspect other menu items may be better....also.... if you are going to the Music Center (we were).... it is really the only game in town....
All the food was really, really bland. Drinks were good, service good. Food underwhelming.
Very overpriced with slow service. Only the location close to the theaters keeps them busy and you pay a hefty premium for that.
My spouse and I shared the salmon rillettes which were delecious as usual. Unfortunately the vegetable mimosa salad was a disappointment. On the menu the salad was described as containing asparagus, cauliflower, beets, haricot verts, avocado, hard boiled eggs and baby romaine. There was no asparagus or cauliflower and only a tiny amount of avocado and eggs. A disappointment for sure.
Kendall's, which is located beneath the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion at the L.A. Music Center, is a perfect pre-theater/pre-concert choice. Its menu, which reflects its Parisian brasserie theme, offers quite a few first-rate choices including the roast calamari entrée that I enjoyed, and even steak tartare, which one of my dining companions chomped down. The friendly service team understands that their guests need to finish up and pay the check with enough time to get to the Ahmanson, Taper, Chandler or Walt Disney Concert Hall, though unless you arrived late, you won't be rushed. The Ahmanson Theatre's Sunday performances begin at 6:30, and there aren't many restaurants downtown that open early enough for a pre-show dinner; happily, Kendall's does.
The food is very good. The waitstaff is alert to the 8p curtain for many patrons. A very pleasant experience. My only two criticisms: It is very noisy including in the "more quiet" room so we sat outside. And it is very expensive. Two entrees and sparkling water, no liquor, appetizers or dessert, was $98.
Fabulous atmosphere. We had an AMAZING waiter. Delicious food!
