Katana was amazing! My family came into town and their request for food was sushi. I automatically thought of Katana. We had avid sushi lovers, but also had a few in our party that needed other items to chose from.
Katana was so accommodating to everything we needed. Truly an amazing restaurant.
Fabulous food, great service and cool atmosphere! They were out of the ingredients for the drink I wanted but everything else was fantastic!
Brought some business colleagues and they are still talking about it. Must visit
I’ve been to the Katana in LA and like the Chicago location better. Much larger with an open layout and good music/DJ . The sushi roll I got with spicy tuna, shrimp tempura and yellowtail was so fresh and delicious. I wasn’t impressed with the shishito peppers though, I had much better preparation of those elsewhere. Overall very nice and I would go back.
Excellent overall stellar food
Great quality food and fantastic ambiance! Freshest fish around!
It was my best friends birthday and they brought out an amazing dessert for us! Such a great experience. Would go again
Great ambiance and authenticity! Fantastic quality food and drink. Not a place to pop in if you’re in a hurry, though, because the quality preparation takes time.
Great service but food was not great. I think with some tweaks to their recipes this could be an awesome restaurant.
Food was extremely greasy unlike most Japanese food. They put too much oil on everything. Had a gallbladder attack after eating there. Service was miserable. They gave us our appetizers right away, but made us wait 40 minutes for the rest of our meal.
I thought the dj wasn’t a good idea for dining. I can see having a dj for late night. Between courses we kind of wait a little bit for food
We had the best dinner ever, I highly recommend it.
Beautiful restaurant, great ambiance, amazing service
From the minute we arrived, we were treated with the highest customer service. Our server was delightful, the ambiance fantastic, food was amazing & it never got loud. I would definitely return here, no doubt about it.
Energetic and open
Enthusiastic and loud
Food was awesome
An excellent experience all around. The Wagyu tartar was an amazing surprise!
Service was stellar from the moment I walked in the door.
We love the restaurant! Very nice atmosphere, the food was very good and fresh, good location! ❤️
If you love sushi and dining in the heart of downtown Chicago, you don’t want to miss Katana. Everything about this restaurant is outstanding. Would give it 10 stars!
Katana was absolutely amazing. I have nothing bad to say about this restaurant. The service was phenomenal, Jessica was so helpful, she really when above and beyond. The food was great. Excellent wine, beer , and cocktail list. Will definitely be back!
Great experience, very good service.
The food and ambiance was great! We had a very informative waiter!
Third time we have been for dinner. Jen took great care of us. This is a wonderful dining experience. Take your time try several dishes and enjoy the ambiance. We recommend the octopus as well as the wagyu beef.
The disco music was loud and monotonous, literally monotone.
I wasn't impressed by exterior of the restaurant but once I stepped inside that quickly changed... The menu is interesting and our server did a fabulous job explaining the options, shared some of her favorites and provided feedback when we asked if had ordered the appropriate amount.
The menu had interesting Japanese options; including skewers, rolls, and entrees. It was delectable.... Better than any Japanese restaurant in Chicago :-)
The venue and menu support groups..... Next time I am coming with a group of friends, so I can try even more items on the menu.
Mariel was such a great server! The manager was very polite as well. I don’t leave reviews often but I felt the need to tonight. They delivered great customer service, and the food was delicious. The interior design is eye catching and their music is on point, along with all the other aspects of the restaurant. I will definitely bevback again soon.
Disappointed. I love Katana in LA, was hoping for the same kind of experience, but the dishes were hit or miss. Had a Katana gift card that said the chef will surprise you with something, and they brought us two pieces of rice with avocado paste on it. When you are dropping $300 on a dinner for two, the restaurant has got to do better to make you feel like they value you. If you spreading gift cards around, give something that wows and makes the clients want more, or don't do it at all.
Our server talked it up...meh. Maybe talked it up too much. Actual delivery was disappointing. Ordered the best of everything, didn’t feel like that’s what we got. Consistently okay from drinks to dessert. We were hoping for special!
Hidden spot in River North. Happy I found it!
Delicious food. The sea bass skewer was amazing!!!
Such a fun, energetic place. Food and drinks are great and it is a perfect weekend spot.
Really slow lunch service. There was only one or two waiters and lunch took a total of two hours, despite my notice that we had a 75 minute window. The sushi was lackluster and all of the rice in the sushi was heavily buttered. Fish did not seem fresh. Will not be back.
I LOVE THIS RESTAURANT. From the service to the fabulous cocktails to the sashimi and robata.....AMAZING. Highly recommend the unagi, hamachi, spicy tuna, negima......all just amazing. Plum dog Millionaire is my new favorite cocktail.
we had a great experience. We will Definitely return on our next trip there.
Meh. Money is better spent elsewhere.
My wife and I adore sushi and go to Chicago often for theater. This wonderful restaurant is a 5 minute walk from the theater and so we decided to try it. What a great call on our part. As you are escorted to your table, you will be welcomed by the restaurant staff on your way there. There is a wide array of sushi, sashimi, skewers, rolls as well as main dishes. The flavors pop and everything is fresh and delicious. Be sure to save room for the desserts, especially the Carnival which is a definite show for your table as well as those nearby. The service is great (thank you Victoria et al) and the management (Daniel and Omar) will see to it that you are cared for well. I had some questions about Sake and learned a great deal thanks to Daniel such that I know have some baseline knowledge that will assist us in the future but more importantly for when we return to this gem of a restaurant.
As soon as we entered we were greeted by a friendly hostess and shown right to our table. Mariel was absolutely phenomenal, both with her service and recommendations. The Katana roll was exquisite and offered a unique flavor profile that showcased their fine spicy tuna with a little added heat from the jalapeño on top. The ambience reminded me of a LA vibe that was modern and luxurious and their filet mignon was cooked to perfection. With the recommendation from Mariel, we decided to try the Mochi and we were very happy that we did. We would definitely come back, not only to Katana but directly to Mariel!!
Greeted warmly by Omar (Manager) and Mariel did a great job recommending different dishes and drink combinations. Daniel (General Manager) came over and introduced himself as well. Great attention to detail and discussions about the food and drinks. Dessert was really cool.
Love love love the sushi and the drinks! I just wish they had a few more vegetarian options, especially since Japanese cuisine has fabulous tofu dishes.
Friendly and professional staff, server (Eddie) was absolutely the best, food was just perfect! Thank you!
Awesome robata and sushi.
