Jumbo Thai Restaurant & Bar
This place has it all - great atmosphere and funky interior, staff unobtrusive but attentive and friendly and the food is out of this world good. Quiet on a wet Tuesday night, nonetheless the place had a fun vibe and great feel. Open windows to the street below made it feel very city and buzzy. A great night with fantastic food
Great food, great atmosphere. Everything was excellent :)
Not our first or our last visit to this outstanding restaurant. Our favourite is to share 6 or 8 entrees for good variety and value.
Love the food and love the staff.
Around Maak Maak!
Outstanding service, delicious meals and mocktail. Michael (the Irish guy) was attentive and super helpful right from the get-go. Thanks for making a Tuesday dinner so wonderful. Would definitely return :)
Food was amazing, but very poor service. Dessert took an hour to come and a coffee ordered took an hour and a half. Very very slow service as well.
I've been to Jumbo a few times and the food's always good. However, this time I had confit duck and it was extremely tough: overcooked or cooked too fast. Pity. Other than that it was, as usual, a nice setting with good service.
We didn't have the best table but came with an extra person to original booking and was accommodate with no dramas. Food & service and never disappointing! Great place!
Second visit here in two weeks. Love the food and atmosphere. Highly recommend it for great service, value for money, ambience and food. Can’t wait to come back
Excellent thai food. Service was very good and wine list impressive. Highly recommended
Amazing food and lovely atmosphere. Would definitely recommend to dine here.
Good selection of beverages and food was a new twist on old favourites which was really really nice. Favourite dish was the duck spring rolls!
Great location, nice venue and friendly staff and host
We loved everything except the noise from the next table, very, very rowdy. Of course everyone is allowed to enjoy their dining experience even us. I felt someone should have had a discrete word to them. It was a return visit for us.
Awesome food, great service. Highly recommend for a great food experience.
Delicious food, enough choices to satisfy lots of different palates. Service was perfect - our server anticipated our needs, prompted us to get our order in before a large party put theirs in, topped up our water glasses and did it all unobtrusively.
Tom Yum is a bit too salty, must have with plain rice. Portion is huge.
Simply amazing from start to finish
Amazing service and the food was excellent. We went for my father's and sister's birthdays and they put together a special cocktail and dessert for both of them. They went over and above to make it a wonderful night.
This is a beautiful restaurant with exceptional food and outstanding service. Also a really great wine list.
Food outstanding. Have recommended to everybody. Good value. Best Asian food I have tried in Brisbane. I got carried away and over ordered.
Lovely food but let down by inflated prices and very average service.
Pricing is at fine dining levels and not great value for money.
Difficult to attract anyone to order any drinks as the waiters avoid eye contact and approaching the table unless they bring food. Not particularly great when food takes a decent time to make it to the table.
I booked a table for 7 on a Friday night to celebrate my 30th birthday. 4 people on the table ordered the banquet and the rest ordered from the menu. The food was delicious - although we were a bit disappointed to receive half a spring roll each as part of the entrees in the banquet. However, the mains were all absolutely delicious, as were the drinks.
The real let down was the service. It was as if we were put in the corner and forgotten about. We had to wave staff over multiple times to order drinks or ask for more water, and one waiter just plonked all drinks in the middle of the table and walked away. When it was time for dessert, we again waited about 20 min for staff to bring it to us but they didn’t, so we went to the counter to ask for it. They didn’t bring the bill to the table so we got up and went to the counter.
While the food was great, the service ruined the experience and tainted what should have been a special occasion.
We had a fairly large group of people to celebrate 3 birthdays. We were welcomed with birthday drinks and the waiter was so friendly and helpful..... The food was the BEST. We are so happy we will be going back tomorrow for another group lunch!
Quite simply the best Thai in town - not cheap but not too pricey either. Delicious cocktails, great service, a decent wine list, modern and appealing ambience. The true star of the show though is the food - try the slow-cooked beef short ribs w panang curry sauce or the Goldbang snapper and you'll never forget Jumbo.
The service was poor. We had to flag down staff to order drinks. After 30mins no one had come to take a food order either. So again we called staff over to order. The staff were rude and abrupt. The food was nice but nothing special. Being an inner city venue parking and traffic are a challenge. There are many new Thai restaurants that have given far better service, easier to get to and nicer food.
We arrived on time and were shown to our table. And then no service or attention from any of the staff. So after 30 min of being ignored (no menu, no water) we left. No one paid any attention to us leaving...
Perfect again. i didn't think we could top our last experience but they did it. Food was exceptional we tried some new dishes and each was fantastic in its own way. we will be back again to try the rest of the menu
Great menu and attentive, friendly staff made for a very pleasant dining experience. Would highly recommend and will certainly be back.
The food here is outstanding, by far the very best modern Thai I have ever experienced in Australia. Authentic and true to their flavours but the ingenuity and flare in their dishes is next level. I have to dine here every time I come to Brisbane ... and it always exceeds my expectations!
Absolutely beautiful fit-out and set up, with service that was excellent and attentive but not intrusive, which is exactly what you want. The menu was well-chosen and the food was very tasty. I'm definitely going back for more.
Good location, the food was really good although I thought the mains were a little expensive. The entrees were good and well priced.
We loved our experience of Jumbo Thai. The dishes we had were simply outstanding and the service first rate. We also appreciated the distance between our table and other diners. We will be back
Fantastic and very authentic food, service could not be faulted. Can recommend highly enough
Food was good but the service was terrible and a huge letdown - especially considering the price paid. We were ignored a lot of the time and had to get the attention of the waitress to order food. Was not offered dessert after we finished our mains. Waitress returned 3 separate times to inform us the bar had run out of the majority of drinks we tried to order.
Food was sent to our table which we didn't order and we returned. Final bill included a dish we didn't order (not the same dish that was accidentally sent to our table). We all left feeling quite disappointed.
Staff are very friendly and approachable. We enjoyed the food and I think the price are very reasonable.
The ambiance is great, however the food was too oily. This applies to both of be dishes that we had.
Loved this restaurant and will definitely be back. Highly recommend
I ate at Jumbo Thai with some business colleagues, as it was close to the Hilton where we were staying and I had read some good reviews about it. The wine list features a good range of whites and light reds to complement the Thai flavours, with a variety of beer and cocktail options as well. Staff were friendly and efficient and the menu includes dishes from all over Thailand. Overall the food was good, but I did find some of the dishes a bit hit and miss. Two stand outs were the starters- Locally Grown Betel Leaf Parcels of Smoked Trout, Salted Coconut Caramel Sauce & Salmon Roe and the Five Spice Pulled Duck, Purple Cabbage & Sweet Corn Crunchy Spring Rolls, Thick & Tangy Dipping Sauce. However a couple of the mains we had (Butterflied Free-Range Half Chicken and Classic Thai Fried Rice with seasonal vegetables and coriander) were quite bland.
We were warmly greeted at the door and shown to our table. The restaurant is new and the staff were keen to show us around when we showed interest in the decore.
Our orders were taken quickly and we didn't have to wait long for our food.
All our meals looked really delicious and taked incredible.
I would absolutely recommend Jumbo Thai to family and friends.
Eaten lunch here twice with work people, both times exceptional. First time was a small group, so we ordered a la carte. We had the soft shell bao, spring rolls, Cape Grim striploin, the Jumbo pad thai (HUGE prawn on it!) and the confit duck maryland salad. Quality was damn fine, even if I wasn't mad about the bao and service was prompt, especially considering it was lunchtime on a Friday. Second time was with a larger group, so we had the express banquet of spring rolls, grilled pork skewers, beef penang curry, grilled, butterflied chicken, greens and rice. The pork sticks were the highlight - excellent marinade & dipping sauce. Service left a bit to be desired but we were one of three massive banquet tables in for (again) lunchtime on a Friday. The staff were still very attentive though.
Pretty decent price point for the location and quality as well. Absolutely recommend.
We found this restaurant on a recent stay at the Hilton Hotel (next door), it's beautifully decorated and on a Sunday night it was quiet and a lovely place to dine, food and wines are wonderful I would highly recommend it
