Fantastic food, unexpected detail and creative dishes. Would love to see the next menu and return
It’s my third visit to Joseph’s and I have never been disappointed with the food drink service and views of the well kept Mansion gardens.Highly recommend to friends and all who enjoy a special dining experience.
Went to restaurant looked at set menu and left restaurant. Have been to this restaurant before set menu and enjoyed food. Set menu was restrictive.will try a la carte lunch menu next time. Dinner prices were expensive.
Wonderful food, excellent service, and a waiter with very good food knowledge. It was a special occasion, and lived up to expectations.
Food was exceptional. Well presented and tasted as good as it looked. Staff were very friendly
Excellent food. The service was excellent.
While the restaurant is conveniently located for those staying at the restaurant it is very limited and overpriced. You only have the option of a 3, 5 or 7 course meal and the size of the servings are not altered for the course size you select. As such the main course in the 3 course option is smaller than a standard entree. Funnily enough the dessert is actually too large.
It started off well with the girl taking the booking agreeing to help me make it special for my husbands birthday occasion. She did what I requested. This is where the service ended. We had to go and find someone to serve us,they only set the tables for the amount of bookings which made the restauant look like a pop up shop. The service during the meal was very average & for what you got extremely expensive!! Very disappointing. No atmosphere for such a great place.
Food by David Green was amazing including warm bread, smoked butter and pepperberry oil and amuse bouche of sashimi. For the three course option, one had the raw Wagyu, shiitake and radish and the other the goat brik with preserved lemon and chayote. Both had the most tender salt grass lamb, green olive, ragout and coastal greens. The Pink Lady dessert was apple shaped with a paskha like filling and green gel coating. Maître d’ Richard and waitstaff Veronica ensured we had a lovely evening
Sunday March 10. Upon arrival at the Mansion we were in awe of the lush green ground and the beautiful flowers. Once inside we were greeted and seated next to a window overlooking the scenery. The staff was polite and friendly. The host very professional. Our entres were tasty esp the calamari which was very tender. Mains steaks, beef cheeks and fish all very good. Home made desserts very yummy esp the chocolate one. Accompanying wines also very good. Thoroughly enjoyable.
Terrible lack of atmosphere. Overpriced menu, with a horrible lack of choice. Menu gives the impression it's a high end establishment, but on arrival appears more as a cafe. Old, dark and uninviting. We left the property and had dinner elsewhere.
Food was amazing. Atmosphere was nice and relaxing. The outlook was peaceful. Was a wonderful experience
Lovely food but the staff were VERY slow, almost inexperienced. The restaurant lacked atmosphere and felt a bit sterile. Needs some music and ambience!
Bread rolls were extremely commercial and not matched to the standard of the restaurant
Don't waste your money for the over priced meal. The views may be lovely but the service was non existent. After being initially seated and our meal order taken,we never saw another staff member near our table. The restaurant was only half full and not busy at all. I had to repeatedly ask for my water glass to be refilled and no one bothered to come back to take our coffee and dessert order.
Glad we found this place, excellent food and ambiance. Perfect for a lazy lunch with good company.
A nice restaurant but not value for money. Nothing we tried from the menu was a wow.
The setting an ambiance is very good but would suggest better food options.
Nice venue but very disappointing otherwise. Service was poor. Asked for two drinks on arrival. 1 came ten minutes later second 20 minutes later. Had set menu. 1 x meal was good size, remaining three poor. Steak mash and 1 pce wilted green vegetable. Very embarrassed when our guest asked for no mash and was given a piece of meat only. Waitperson could have asked if she wanted a side in stead. Will not recommend or visit again.
We went to Joseoh’s Restuarant fir my son’s birthday & it was very enjoyable.
Our respective meals were excellent albeit the service was very slow.
Great surrounds with a beautiful garden area is an attractive option for guests wanting a meal @ either the Cafe or the Restuarant.
We ordered a Birthday Cake in advance & my son & his partner were very impressed.
Overall very good & once the Restuarant resolves it’s service standard - it should of really well.
Entre and mains were good.
Dessert was heavy.
Went for a special occasion and very disappointed. Food was very poor quality. Been to this restaurant few years back and five star quality food. But this time had to return the stakes back and second time got a fat full of piece. Very disappointing never go back.
Service was fine and tried hard.
The food was very average. Not sure why the head chef or exec chef would prepare a menu that he/she can't execute properly.
Very disappointing with the quality of produce and execution of each dish.
Great service, staff were all very friendly. Food was amazing. Would highly recommend to anymore wanting to see more of Victoria and get out of the city!!
Where do I start... traveling from Melbourne with a group of 4 we had high expectations (seen on TV)... well this would be THE WORST dinning experience to date. From the moment we were seated the service was bad. We were advised from the small lunch menu about 4 dishes were not available. We ordered from a very unprofessional waitress who forgot to put through 2 of our main dishes, gave us dirty cutlery and mis informed us what we could order from the ‘available’ menu! AVOID AVIOD AVIOD!!!!!!!!!
Quite disappointed with the meals from what one could order from the menu as half the meals were not available...Quite over priced from the quality of the meal received.
Upon arriving for our booking, we sat down and realised two of the wine glasses were dirty on our table. We put them aside, no waitresses asked us about them. We sat for 5-10mins without any menus, I then asked a waitress for menus, she said ok then walked off, when she came back she said that she had to get her supervisor to get them for us. How do you run out of menus when there was only 6 tables seated. Two people had the steak, looked like it was slapped on the plate. No presentation skills
Lovely lunch at Joseph's for my sisters special birthday. Waitstaff including Sarah were great, very helpful and nothing too much bother. Lovely that they provided a special dessert plate to celebrate the occasion. Great spot overlooking the mansion grounds.
I have been to Joseph's restaurant before for both lunch and dinner . Both experiences were wonderful and have ensured we visit again, which we have
The scenery , food and serving staff are of a very high standard.
Definitely a special Occassion venue
Our waitress Sarah was exceptional both in friendliness and knowledge of the menu.
We loved our experience at Josephs restaurant and would come again.
Some friendly feedback includes - offer more for less (ie, vegetables with meal @ $40).
Background music or piano player would increase ambience given that setting. This is not a criticism but some suggestions that may help in future.
Offering return customers a group discount would provide even more business.
Quality of food was lovely. Thank you
Staff were brilliant and catered to our every need.
The service was not so good. The main meal came very quickly - even before the pre dinner drink was served. I felt rushed and it was Sunday afternoon.
Great birthday lunch
My husband and I had a wonderful time at Joseph's for my birthday lunch recently. We ordered the three course menu with a glass of wine and coffee for $80 each and thought it represented good value for money. The food was excellent, especially the main courses, and the attention from staff was first-rate. This is the fourth instance we have dined there for a special occasion; each time we have enjoyed it, with a preference for when it is quieter, as it was last week.
Our dining experience here was wonderful. The staff were attentive and so accommodating which made our time there very special as it was for a birthday celebration. The food was outstanding and definitely exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended.
A nice venue for a special occasion, although to be honest I thought the staff member who greeted us was a little too familiar - then again I'm older. We went for lunch. Food was good although selection not great. Wine selection good.
The food was beyond expectations and has topped my dining experience, the service was amazing however I think it could be bettered with the wine service with offering a top up, but all up i would definitely be coming back again
Fantastic service, great food and lovely restaurant. We had a main and two tiny plates to share which sadly meant we were too full to explore the dessert menus.
We dined here over two consecutive nights. Food was mostly fine - I do not recommend dessert here at all, mains were lovely and entrees are okay. However service was inconsistent at best. First night, we waited a total of 45 minutes (of our 1hr 30min dining experience) for dessert to arrive, and were approached after 20min that it was coming 'really soon'.
2nd night, we weren't given menus for about 15 minutes. Once we asked, we didn't get a wine list or the specials.
Enjoyed the Mother's Day fare and wine immensely!
Fantastic place, we were lucky to have been seated in front of an open fire.
