Josef Chromy Wines
Fresh food creatively (although not simply) prepared, professional but friendly service, relaxed atmosphere.
Well worth spent afternoon at the lovely Josef Chromy. Fine dine food to a valuable price with a perfect view.
Excellent service and views. Varied, thoughtful menu, and lots of care put into the making of each dish.
What a great spot for lunch. Kids complained all the way there that we were having lunch at a 'boring winery'...until they saw the setting. Ideal for families as there is plenty of outdoor space for kids to run around and even have games for kids to play. Beautiful all round!!
Food very inventive. Best in Launceston and the North. But: Service rather slack. Waiters leave you too much alone and can't be hailed.
We loved the new spacious restaurant & the beautiful views from the huge glass sliding doors which open out to the patio.. The service was friendly and efficient and the food very good indeed. The wines of course speak for themselves and accompany all dishes very well. It's the kind of place you go to relax and just enjoy the wonderful surroundings together with good food, wine and company, it is one of our favourite places to endulge our senses.
Enjoyed beautiful lunch with friends while on holiday. Loved the amazing views and peaceful setting would definitely recommend this winery.
Refined atmosphere, excellent seasonal local produce matched to the wineries varieties by the glass. Complex and unusual dishes with many flavours and cooked to perfection . But, loses points for separately charging for potato and vegs on top of already high prices!
Delicious Lunch.
The food is amazing, the staff are lovely and the surroundings are beautiful.
Great food & the staff were very attentive, particularly about collecting feedback about their new menu. Very pleased.
Absolutely stunning surroundings with a beautiful view. This place is best enjoyed for a leisurely lunch overlooking the vineyards. Food is exceptional and service is very good. Outstanding value for this quality.
In all we had a very good dining experience. The food was great and a selection of good, local wines were available. The service was lacking and we were left regularly waiting for drinks. Each of our 3 courses arrived before the wines we had ordered made it to our table. It was also disappointing that we had noted a nut allergy on our booking and mentioned it twice once at the restaurant, but dishes continued to be served covered in nuts, with no prior warning or mention on the menu.
Lamb rack special was unbelievably good!
Superb service, great meal, beautiful wine, lovely location and great value for money
Beautiful food and location
We celebrated my partner's birthday with a romantic lunch for two. When I booked I requested a window table overlooking the lake. The restaurant is superb, as is the food and service. We enjoyed everything we had and the wine, a Josef Chromy Pino Gris was divine. Couldn't fault anything and we will definitely return.
I lived in Launceston for 7 years in the hospitality industry and got married at Josef Chromy in July 13. The wedding, service, food and entertainment was exceptional although we mostly organised everything ourselves it was a day which will stay in our memory's forever. We now live in Cambodia and came back for anniversary lunch with friends of ours which were present at our wedding. The lunch was as good as our wedding. Jason Shelly was than in charge of the Restaurant in did an outstanding job
Divine! Took my husband to Josef Chromy's for lunch for his birthday, everything was perfect. Interesting menu, sophisticated flavours, but blending beautifully together. Staff very friendly but highly professional. It was an enjoyable and memorable lunch.
When visiting Tasmania our group of friends dines at this restaurant for lunch before catching an afternoon flight home. It is close to the airport, the food is innovative, top quality and service excellent. The wines are also good quality and the menu suggests which wines to match with the food. The staff, both in the wine tasting area and the restaurant, are very friendly and efficient.
A beautiful location with very polite and attentive service, scrumptious food and superb wine ... perfect spot for my friend and I to catch up and spoil ourselves.
We stopped here on the way to the airport for our flight home. This was based on a recommendation from another and we were not disappointed. The food was superb and the service attentive. The wine lists only carries there own wines (understandably) however there is a good selection. Our water glasses were never empty and I feel that's a good sign at a restaurant. We would return when next in Launceston and would recommend.
Sorry it wasn't special. The building is the main attraction and the staff were pleasant. The food was overpriced and servings were undersize. I ordered a medium rare steak and it was tough/chewy. Other diners stated their pork was tasty but not worth the money. I organised this gathering so am rather embarrassed. I wouldn't recommend this to others unless they are happy to receive a trendy small serve and are cashed up!
Excellent food and service with a smile
What a disappointment. We booked for the $45 lunch special which was a complimentary glass of wine, entree and main course but was confronted by a main course that consisted of a small bowl with a small quantity of thin broth, TWO SMALL pieces of tortellini, two shavings of mushrooms and a shaving of bacon. This "main" was smaller than the entree. We have since spoken to others who advised they experienced similar & will not be recommending or returning.
The food was amazing, our waitress was fabulous and the ambience just perfect!
Beautiful scenery, amazing atmosphere, wonderful wine and fabulous food - we were celebrating a special occasion and everything made it so much more special. Friendly staff at all levels, topped off by French waiters - who could ask for more?!!
My husband and I always make a point of visiting Josef Chromy whenever we are in Launceston. Once again, it did not disappoint. Fantastic service, food and wine. Would highly recommend.
Venue crowded, but suitable for lunch. Main course exquisitely wonderful, including side dishes. Dessert not so good - strange tasting items, and stale crackers/bread with cheese. Hot chocolate perfect. Staff way too busy and somewhat neglectful. Note made with online booking ignored. Not up to scratch for price. Will give it another try in Summer. Wonderful site with breathtaking views.
We had an excellent lunch. The service was friendly and efficient and the food was delicious. I really recommend this restaurant.
Great location. Excellent service. Good wines. Interesting menu
Food, scenery and staff all fantastic - Showcasing Northern Tasmania at its finest
Dessert was deliciousLittle chocolate treat with coffee was fabulous.Service was friendly, attentive and professional. One of the best views in Tassie.
Even on a rainy day the setting is delightful, including the beautiful drive. Arrival is made easy with clearly marked entrance and good parking. We were greeted immediately and made comfortable by many efficient and friendly staff. We found the food delicious and will be coming back again for many special occasions. The 2 course lunch special also makes it very affordable for a retired couple like us. I enjoyed the walks around the vineyard and pond as well as greeting the lovely horses
EXCEPTIONAL! Had an amazing lunch experience here with friends visiting from the mainland. We did the tasting to start and it was brilliant, lots of time spent with us. Lunch we could not fault, the service was brilliant as well. A MUST DO!
I dined for lunch with some friends during our recent girls long weekend away, coming from Melbourne. Having visited the restaurant numerous times myself we arrived with very high expectations. No vodka for the cocktails that were being promoted and NO oysters! Very disappointing, but our meals and the wines were still exceptional. I love dining here and will always return when I am in Tas.
Our lunch at Josef Chromy winery over the June long weekend was lovely. The wait staff were attentive and friendly, and made sound menu recommendations. We ended up ordering a shared lamb dish for two, with polenta and potatoes as sides, plus a glass of red each, followed by a chestnut doughnut dessert.Everything was absolutely delicious and I would not hesitate to go back if I were ever in the region again.
Birthday dinner for my daughter. I had asked for a birthday candle in dessert in my online booking, received an email to confirm, spoken to the restaurant on the day to check, but there was no candle. Asked about it, got an apology but still a bit annoying.Shared entrees were all very good. Main courses well presented, tasty and good sized portions. Desserts were enjoyable but not as interesting as the last time we ate here.
Upmarket restaurant but with a relaxed feel. Great staff. Friendly but not intrusive. Food and wine superb
We had been recommended to come here by friends. While the setting was lovely we were a bit disappointed with the food - good but below our expectations.
