Jamie's Italian Canberra Ratings and Reviews
The meals are overpriced and very poor quality.
The steak $36 was ordered medium and came out rare.
The salad consisted of a lettuce leaf.
The"posh" chips were the same as McDonalds and cold.
The pancheta on the burger $24 was a one whisper slim slice and the burger was dripping in a cream sauce and chips (McDonalds style)were $6 extra. Waitress service was very poor.
Very friendly and attentive service coupled with simple but tasty and imaginative food choices. I was impressed by pleasant gentleman who seriously wanted to know how the experience was. I commended him on the vegan friendly eggplant dish and he explained the chef is always ready to adapt dishes for such requirements. This is very important to me.
Salads and wines are good, but the daily special snapper and pippies I had as my main was a rip off - a minut piece of fish and five equally small pippies for $30 really? I was still hungry after the 'sample' I received that I had to order a salad. Service was friendly but average. Owners should teach their young hospitality staff that if you call your place a restaurant this means not taking away empty plates until ALL diners at a table are finished. The experience felt like a cafe.
I had dinner at Jamie's on a Friday with my family with 2 kids. It was not busy as we had dinner at 6pm. The kids menu was good with many choices and comes with a free drink and salad. The dishes was delicious but the tomato pasta was a bit too salty.Same for the prawn linguini, it was very salty. It was a hot day and there were lots of flies in the restaurant which is very annoying. The overall service of staff was good and they are friendly, although they made a mistake on our order.
We had my daughter's birthday dinner at Jamie's Italian in Canberra. The kids meals are pretty good, which is the main reason we went there; however my elderly grandparent was given an overcooked pizza with burnt edges and a tough base. It was basically inedible for him, we complained and the staff took the pizza off our bill. The other dishes were fine, though a tad overpriced. Despite all this, the restaurant has a nice vibe.
I have dined at the Open Table in Perth and I found the same meal there to be of a better quality. I ordered the Super salad with chicken breast, there was too much mint which became overpowering. My friend ordered the spaghetti bongoli, my friend found the pasta to be undercooked.
Food was great and staff very friendly and eager to please. We had to wait a long time for drinks to arrive and had to ask for them a couple of times. It was a busy night but drinks service wasn't great! 15 mins is too long to wait to order first drink and then a another 15 mins before they arrived, only after we asked again. Would recommend and enjoyed the meal. Need dedicated drinks staff as we could see drinks on the bar waiting to be served.
The food was great - tasty and portions were good. The service however was atrocious. Mains being delivered 15 minutes apart for a table of four was hopeless. A bottle of wine without the cork removed so we had to go to the bar to get it opened. empty glasses on the table for 45 minutes, dirty plates left on the table despite the waitress visiting us twice. Thankfully the manager reduced our bill (without us asking) once she was informed of the issues. Will go back there if service improves.
The friendly and efficient service we received was the highlight of our night. Unfortunately the food was really quite disappointing. We had Festive Feast menu - which was far too limited - and quite uninspiring. Far too much quantity of food and not enough quality. Honestly could have done much better myself at home. Cheesecake so dry and almost tasteless. Potatoes almost soggy with very dark skins. Antipasta was dull and boring and some parts tasteless. Pasta on 2 dishes almost over cooked. 😞
Food was amazing we had the festive menu was a little disappointed that some iteams on the menu were not avalaibe
Disappointed in the staff had to wait over 20 mins for a glass of water had to ask twice for napkins knives and forks. We were missing food on both our entre and mains and had to ask for what was missing.
Staff seemed to stand around and chat more then work. The manager was amazing we expressed our disappointment in his staff he sat and listen to our feedback. Top bloke
Terrible service - waited over an hour for food. Food was plain, boring, not at all flavorsome and wholesome like you would expect a good Italian spaghetti dish to be. We also had to wait 20 minutes for our bill to be brought out to us after requesting it twice.
Excellent food, friendly couteous staff, great value, vibrant atmoshpere, this place has a great feel to it. The share plates are awesome, the vino and beer choices are excellent and oh, did I mention, the food is excellent. I would highly recommend this place for a small group of good friends to go to enjoy great food, wine and fun.
Unfortunately our experience was not very good. I don't think that Jamie Oliver himself would be happy with the quality of the food or service served at his restaurant here...
The food was OK but nothing better than average. There were two stand out dishes amongst 15 and the poor ones were quite poor. Service was with a smile but lacking, inattentive and slow.
