Jack's Bar & Steakhouse
Excellent place, great bar set up. Wonderful people and food was spot on!
We went later of a Friday night, 8:30. The food was excellent. The service was OK. The ambiance was like eating in a nightclub, from the LOUD music to the young girl getting drunk sick in the bathroom. Maybe on a different night it is better, but for the menu it was not what I was expecting.
Really like this place for the food and location. The only thing that baffled us was that when we asked for certain wines, they didn’t have them. They offered us other ones that were good but this happened at another time I ate there.
They need to stock the bar with the items they have in their menu.
They “forgot to make my meal” then asked if I still wanted it since 40 minutes had already past and all of the other people in my party received and finished their meals. Ridiculous.
Family New Year’s Eve dinner. Salads were good. Green beans were delicious. Steaks were average- smaller than expected, rib eye was shaped like a fillet mignon and tasteless per my husband. I had risotto with short ribs that was ok. Bottom line- for $300.00 I wouldn’t go back.
Food was great as usual...
Was an excellent experience. The food and the service was outstanding. The personnel make the difference. Highly recommended.
Good food ... very much overpriced.
We had a wonderful family dinner, everyone's meal was outstanding and Diego was very attentive to every detail!
I’d heard great things about Jack’s so I wanted to test it out for a birthday dinner. The atmosphere was confusing as it was very trendy inside but then had “$20 Corona Buckets” advertised in the window. It took way too long to get our drinks, a draft beer and a glass of wine. The speed of the food was appropriate. However, my filet mignon was so salty it was inedible. I sent it back and management was very gracious about it. But when our waiter brought my new food out, he threw it in front of me and scoffed off. My filet was then not seasoned at all and a little overcooked. They did have a fantastic birthday celebration though complete with complimentary Prosecco and Tiramisu and the chef singing happy birthday. I would go again and hope for something better but I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re looking for a nice romantic steak dinner.
It was not a great experience. It started out okay but, our server was not very good. For example, my husband got a martini - the server spilled it all over his own hand and on the table. Did not apologize, offer to clean it up, come and clean it up - nothing. When my husband picked up the drink, it dripped all over the place (no cocktail napkins or coaster was given) and he got it on his shirt. The food was over priced and only parts were good. Overall, there are too many good restaurants with better pricing and service to ever go back to this one.
I really enjoyed this restaurant. The salmon is terrific!
The service and food are exceptional. My boyfriend and I had the lobster lollipops and the mussels “Old Bay” style. Both were extremely flavorful and came out hot . For our main course he had the gnocchi pasta and I had the duck both were cooked to perfection . The bartenders did a great job with our cocktails two Mexican mules and a special dessert wine per my boyfriends special request . Our waiters were very attentive filling our water glasses and removing dishes from the table promptly .We finished out meal with the Dolce de Leche lava cake which was delicious . The lights were dim and the music selection was great setting a very romantic atmosphere. As we were leaving the restaurant was Being transformed into a nightclub but the noise level was still low . We can wait to go back to Jacks the service and food always exceed our expectations
Fantastic steak house. They were out of the porterhouse, which was disappointing, but had ribeye instead which was outstanding. Sides are small but delicious.
Great experience, food was delicious. Only complaint was that it was pretty loud in there and hard to hear my family.
Food took a very long time to come out, $45 steaks were extremely overcooked - not worth the money.
Jack’s Happy hour specials were fantastic. Great value with the fun and varied $5 menu selections and the half price beer and wine. Our service was just excellent both times we dined at Jacks in the last week. Very friendly, patient with our questions, and responsive waiters on both occasions. We will be back next time we are in New Haven!
A+ staff and food.
Had a great meal during restaurant week. Staff paid attention to detail in Open Table reservation and acknowledged our anniversary with a complimentary glass of champagne.
Everything was perfect except they seated us in the bar. It was made up for with my food and service. Will definitely return.
We are impressed with the first time dining here. We’ve heard great things via reviews online and we we not disappointed. The food, timing and ambiance was impressive. The only con we had was are server being soft spoken... Overall we give it a 4/5
Went for New Haven restaurant week. If you find yourself in the area, I highly suggest Jack’s. Outstanding food and service. Will be back.
We went for my bfs bday dinner. Food was excellent. Portions were great along with the service.
I was lucky enough to get reservations during New Haven's Restaurant Week on the same day of my dining experience. I was seated in an area where the noise level was low to moderate, which was appreciated due to the moderate to high noise level in the bar area.
Our server was excellent with his 20's vibe hair style and mustache. He was very attentive regardless of how busy and bustling the restaurant was.
The food was by far the best. The Filet Mignon Tartar with a Quail Egg, was very pleasing to the palette. The steak was a little over done but it did not lose its succulents or flavor. As busy as it was on a cold rainy night the chef held it down and got customers plates out like clockwork.
I was very pleased and will definitely return to enjoy the experience again and won't mind paying full price. Very enjoyable.
It’s hard to have a conversation because of noise level but who can talk while you are eating the best steak you have ever tasted anyway.
My husband and I decided to try Jack's Bar and Steakhouse during New Haven Restaurant Week. Our first time there. From the time we walked in to the time we left, it was a fantastic experience. The decor is great, the service was excellent (ask for Diego, he's the best) and the food was an orgasmic experience. The owner came over to talk with us because I had asked where I could buy the hanging chili pepper bundles that were hanging on the wall of a portion of the dining room. The entire staff worked very hard to make our experience memorable. Can't wait to go back again. Also, their happy hour isn't just at the bar, it's the entire restaurant - half price glasses of wine was awesome. We could afford to get two glasses each. Thanks again to Diego and the entire staff for a wonderful experience. See you soon.
Went for lunch during Restaurant Week. Service very good. Inexpensive 10 ounce steak but for price was fine. At a higher price, I'd expect a better steak.
Food was okay, though I’ve had better at Jack’s in the past. The trick is by not going for the Restaurant Week.
This was the first time for my husband and I to eat here. We thought during New Haven restaurant week we would venture out to new places - it was quite good. Not a big fan paying $8 to park, but that is what you get for any city.
The food was very good and the service was excellent. The food runner was amazing. The only thing I bothered me was a light flickering that was causing me to get a headache, but otherwise, very good.
Birthday celebration for 3 seniors , was expecting a main dining area not the bar. Food and service was excellent. We found the main dining room while going to the ladies room, it would have been perfect.
This was a new place for my boyfriend and I. I decided to try Jack's for his birthday and we were not disappointed. The food and service was great and we enjoyed our time! We will definitely be back.
The service was great and the food was amazing....would go back.
Did not like back or side room seating . I would have liked bar side better
Thsnk you for another awesome dinner.
Keep up wirh the high quality food and wonderful service.
The pumpkin spice martini and the short ribs were delicious. We will return to Jack’s.
No atmosphere .... food mediocre... service soso.. way to pricey for atmosphere, service and food presentation
We enjoyed our meal, everything was just fine for casual dining.
Highly recommend this restaurant! The food was delicious and the service suburb!! Make a reservation for Saturday evenings to ensure you get a table.
