Had the pancakes which were stale, cold and over priced service was terrible even though we booked table we did not get shown to a table just told to take a set, service was slow, had to find our own menu. Would not recommend this place to anyone nor would I take any one there again.
We thoroughly enjoyed our thirsty Thursday and our waitress was fantastic
Good variety on the menu, food was not bad. Had the salmon, whilst not crispy skinned the salmon meat was cooked perfectly.
Service was poor, like the bar staff were very inexperienced in their roles & couldn’t do more than one task. There was also two periods when there was one staff member on the bar and 3+ customers waiting for service.
Food was a long time coming out, considering we only ordered a main and starter to come out at the same time.
The bread was cold on the starter platter & the fish over cooked in the Malai Curry.
Not a good first impression.
This was very disappointing. Both our friends and I have eaten here before and it was nothing like the experience we had last time. Our friends ordered the Chicken and Salmon and were happy. My husband had the Seafood Curry and I ordered the Barramundi. My husband said the curry was the worst he had eaten, it was not full of flavour which a curry usually is. My fish was notice Barramundi at all, although I was assured by the chef that it was. There was no skin (crispy or otherwise) and the texture and flavour was nothing like Barramundi, it was more like snapper. That aside my meal was OK. The service was extremely slow, it took over an hour to get 2 entrees, I think we had been forgotten. We would not return for dinner but their lunches should still be OK.
Difficult to recommend an appropriate occasion to visit this restaurant. Perhaps happy hour or after work drink rather than a special meal occasion. The meals were not satisfactory - salmon was overcooked a big no no! and the accompanying salad was mainly canned corn.
The beef was more well done than medium and the accompanying sauce over seasoned with garlic.
The wait persons were enthusiastic but not trained. I appreciate that use of trays for serving drinks in close quarters is too difficult, but handling wine glasses like a can of beer is just not appropriate.
Not a place for a quiet meal as another reviewer stated.
Everything was great except they brought out our meals almost 10 minutes appart, so 30 minutes to the third person getting their meal. Suggest we all get our meals together next time.
Also offered us table water, but then never brought any over.
went to ivy and jack for valentines day dinner. food was alright, not too shabby, ambience was good and staff was polite and friendly.
overall not a bad experience
I chose Ivy & Jack for their kids eat free night. Having four children it’s great to go somewhere that covers two kids meals for one adult.
I would highly suggest colouring in pages or a paper tablecloth and crayons for each family. We had to wait a long time for our meals and my children became restless and bored. Complimentary breads or something whilst waiting would be good too. (Or get starters out a lot faster). Overall it was ok.
I was surprised to find Ivy & Jack in the Gold section of the Entertainment Book. It was a very nice restaurant but if you are looking for fine dining I wouldn't recommend this venue. It would be better suited in the voucher section of the book as the decor and ambiance was more like a cafe. However, my friends and I did use our Gold Card and enjoyed a bottle of wine for free by taking advantage of the discount. The staff were very friendly and helpful. If you are looking for a restaurant to meet friends for lunch I would recommend this place without hesitation. You could choose a $15 lunch special or select from the menu which offered a varied menu.
Staff were attentive and the food came out quickly. we had the lunch menu which is basically pub grub but what was ordered was good and extremely good value.
We had been there before and loved it wanted to make it a special night did not happen my lamb was a bit on the raw side and the pasta my husband had was over cooked he did not like it ,send the lamb for some more cooking came back perfect
But Leah was very good she did an excellent job good on her
Service was great , food was fantastic servings were good .
Perfect place to be able to have conversation.
Unbelievable food once again great atmosphere. Would recommend it to anybody who has something to celebrate o
Ivy and Jack turned out to be a disappointing place to go for breakfast. The menu is very limited, the scrambled eggs I ordered were meagre and poorly cooked and presented, and the ambience is scrappy and a bit vulgar. Not awful, but there are lots of better places nearby.
The food was spot on as was the service from the wait staff. However, the wait for the food was far too long and it was clear that there was not enough kitchen staff to cater for the number of customers. It was Xmas eve and not very busy but food was coming out very slowly which really let down the whole experience.
Shocking tasteless food
Did not honour kids eat free deal as advertised.
We'd selected Ivy & Jack because we were sharing a birthday and thought we'd go somewhere from the Entertainment Book's gold card section. Despite making a booking there was no reservation for us, the table we were shown to was cleaned as we sat at it, the menu was basic, and the food/coffee very ordinary. Unless I have to to lodge this review, there's nothing I'd recommend Ivy & Jack for.
Great venue for our girlie catchup on a Saturday lunchtime. Food was good, wait staff friendly and attentive and accepting the Entertainment Book voucher a terrific bonus.
Great service, good food and fantastic atmosphere.
A bit of a wait to get the table however there was ALOT of empty tables just no staff in sight. when I went to order (at a business lunch) there was a wait to get served as the waiter was occupied with some dishes.
Booked a table for Saturday morning. Asked when booking if want a high table said no.
Got to restaurant put on a high table so asked to move. I hate eating on a high table.
Coffee machine wasn't working well so they made us barista coffee which was nice.
Food was average. Good selection.
Friend had a pastry was so hard she couldn't eat it. Been sitting there way too long.
We went to pay and couldn't find any record of what we had so took a while to sort that out. Service was ordinary kept having to try and find someone. Not enough staff on. Lined up to pay then told oh no you don't pay here pay over there. It's just not clear.
Average value for money. We used entertainment book which made it good value.
Prob won't return for breakfast, but might try dinner.
We went for a pre show meal and could not fault Ivy and Jack. Staff were lovely and food delicious.
There were 7 of us booked for dinner, 4 children. Really liked the atmosphere on arrival and the decor. Kids are free over school holidays from kids menu which wasn't bad for $10. Rest of us went with the $25 steak and schooner special. Empty plates all round. Took about 20 mins from when we ordered to get our food. Waitress, a Dublin girl was very attentive. We had a lovely time and would definitely return again.
Great place to catch-up with your girl friends - good food and good wine.
Awesome place to catch up with friends. Great meal that wasn't rushed. We're booking again for another gathering.
Went here for a date night with hubby whilst staying in the city. Service was great, food was delicious. Entrée, main and dessert all came out in good time and we enjoyed the cocktails as well. Will definitely recommend.
Was pleasantly surprised with the variety available on the lunch menu. Great ambiance.
Tasty food at good value. Service a bit slow on Friday evening and waiters less than attentive.
We came in Thursday evening 18 May 2017, one of the guests on our table was quite rude to the young girl who served us, the young girl with an accent was always very pleasant and friendly, a lovely employee, the person on our table was just plain rude.
The service by the staff was terrible. We waited 45 mins for someone to take our order for drinks & food. No staff came near us until I had to chase a staff member going into the kitchen, I told her where we sat & can we have water to start off. Still waiting 30 minutes later, until the next table had to tell us that we needed to go up & order & then we might get water.
We ordered cake & coffee later. 2 ladies ordered flat white coffees. When delivered the drinks came over cold. Still no staff around but because I had ordered different drink the barista came to our table. The girls advised about their cold drink, he advised that he thought they had wanted a cold coffee.
The food was delicious, the cocktails were tasty and the venue was awesome. Would definitely go back!!
Great service on a quiet Easter Monday night and delicious Espresso Martinis.
Terrible service mind u it was more of a pub than a restaurant the food was definitely not value for money the kids menu was ridiculously over priced for what we received even the waiters said they were embarrassed to serve such portions at the price wont be going back again
Went to Ivy and Jack as had heard that this is a new venue and thought I would give it a go.
Went to meet a friend for a catch up lunch.
Greeted and seated promptly. And given menus and explained how it works, need to order at bar.
Very quiet lunch, seemed more staff than customers.
Food came out promptly , ordered burger was ok, nothing special.
Ploughmans board dissapointing few small pieces of cheese, not enough bread , a lot of cold meats.
Wine list is very limited.
2 of the wines ordered were not available.
Also had tried to ring to make a booking the day before and phone was not answered on several attempts.
Would not recommend, there is a lot of options near by.
Slowest service ever. Our assigned waitress was no-where to be seen most of the time.
Had to wave and shout to get anyone to take our order. Steaks were not good. All different shapes and sizes and not brilliant quality.
We stayed at the Holiday Inn for the Australia Day Skyshow, so we had dinner at Ivy and Jack. They phoned at about 5pm to say that their beer taps weren't working so there would only be bottled beer available. That was great service I thought. It was very busy for dinner so the service wasn't up to its usual high standard. Some customers were complaining about slow service. Ours wasn't too bad. The Australia Day menu was nice and great value. We all enjoyed our meals.
We were given a cosy booth whih had been pre-booked. The service was fine and the food was enjoyed by the three of us - a squid salad, a ceasar salad and a raw salad. We followed with a creme brulee, and two berry desserts and coffee for all.
When it became time to leave we thought we would divide the account and pay a third each. This seemed to be a complication and each of us were then told to pay individually.
We would go again.
I enjoyed a Christmas work lunch with five colleagues and we are planning on returning next year (and in between too). The food, drinks and particularly the service made our visit a delight. I could not fault anything about our time there, and Keith was an absolute perfect host. Take yourself there - you won't regret it!!
Best service! Waitress was so friendly, food was AMAZING! Definitely will come back!
