Island Cafe & Bistro
Family owned and operated, we serve authentic Malaysian meals and all of the food is home cooked. All of the ingredients are also made at the restaurant, and we buy fresh fruit and vegetables. Our most popular dishes include Roti Canai, Laksa, and Malaysian dried-mixed noodles.
Owned by a Malaysian family, we decided to named it Island Cafe & Bistro to bring the best Malaysian delights to Edmonton, where all the different cultures come together. With this being said, you can expect to find some unique Malaysian delights as well as fusion with Western delights all together at one place.

Amazing food. We have been to Malaysia and this was totally authentic. All condiments even made in house. And an owner/cook that takes pride in her food makes it a joy to eat. And amazing to talk to. We were still eating and texting all of our friends and telling them that they had to eat there. There is absolutely nothing I could give less than a 10/10
Staff is very friendly and always recommends great dishes. I am always leaving satisfy and returning for business. Their food is amazing and it is rare to find places for a nice home cooked type of meal.
Very friendly family run restaurant. Clean with quick service and very good food. A crepe cake for dessert to die for. Recommend trying.
The owners are really friendly and aim to make your visit/meal as pleasant as can be. The food is very authentic and there is a good range of non spicy to spicy food. Good for large groups and the food is fresh and tasty. I would definitely go back. There is something for everyone here. The roti and Nasi Lemak is my favourite!
Good food, reasonable prices and very personable and friendly owners!
A little mom and pop Malaysian restaurant tucked in a strip mall on the west side of Edmonton. Very quiet and I would rate it a hidden gem. Drive by and miss it.
Based on comments tried the spicy dumping soup. Sort of a cross between Japanese with the dumplings and Malaysian with the Curry soup. Flavours were balanced, and the spice level was just about perfect. The owner even asked how spicy I liked, which I left in his hands. Came out perfect.
Also had the Roti special at the suggestion of the owner. Another good blend of spices. Curry was the same base as the soup, roti was tender and slightly crispy. Spring rolls were flavoursome. The Malaysian salad was a disappointment, was really only cucumber and pineapple, but made a nice addition to the chicken and roti.
Prices are reasonable, will definitely be checking it out again for other entrees.
Very good! Staff were great.
The food was excellent, the owners explained the menu and made suggestions. We sampled several appetizers and shared a meal. Prices were very reasonable and the staff was very attentive. Will return.
The owners are very friendly and hospitable. We had a wonderful tasty authentic dinner. The food was delicious and the crepe cake dessert was outstanding.
Will definitely visit them again.
Owner was very accommodating and took the time to explain the menu. Lot’s of vegan dishes.
Wonderful tasting Malaysian food. Dumpling soup is excellent, we ordered another to take home. Roti special is fantastic. And for dessert, Milles Crepes with Kaya jam...hope I got that right! 32 layers of crepes and filling...it was heavenly. Nice chatting with the owners, learned a little about Malaysian culture and history. Will definitely go back to try different items and learn more!
Exceptional food. Fun staff. Casual place. Will definitely be back. TRY THE DUMPLING SOUP!!!
Absolutely fantastic food and service. The spicy chicken dumpling soup was so good we got some to go, too.
Excellent customer service!! Food portions are pretty big.
Excellent food. All home made. Biryani chicken was a cross between Indian and Malaysian. Best roti. Great value!
