Good food, good service. A perfect place for a quiet dinner.
Excellent service; good food quiet ambiance
Myself and 2 work friends went for dinner at Ascua Wednesday night and it was busier than expected. The steak was tasty and cooked to my liking. Loved watching the chef sear the steaks on the grill. The only thing that let them down was their inability to split the bill 3 ways, they could split 2 ways not 3?? Still can not understand why.
Wonderful night at Ascua! Watched our seafood platter being cooked right before us on the big wood fired grill! Seafood was delicious. Amazing service and ambience.
Great find in the CBD in Perth. Everything from the service, to the suggestions from our waiter to the food we were served was exemplary. The waiter suggested the tommohawk steak to share, he was spot on. Cooked to perfection and delicious it was a huge portion that we couldn’t do justice to. You could also be forgiven for thinking you were in the centre of Barcelona.
Unfortunately all food was heavily salted
We have eaten out all over Perth and Internationally and have not experienced to this degree before
Not sure if something was different this night or if you always apply salt to this degree
Please take as constructive feedback
Delicious pork presented on roasted apple. service was efficient and helpful with wine selection. Hoped to come back for dessert after DSAHM show was over but had to go to Tapas bar instead as restaurant was closed by 9.00pm
My 2nd time. Must say better than the 1st and the 1st was outstanding. Food, wine, service all wonderful. My partner had a small request given her dietary requirements and it was accommodated to without any fuss. Our waiter had extensive knowledge, great experience and a wonderful table manner. I will recommend Ascua unequivocally.
Diane and I enjoyed her birthday celebration several nights ago, and we both enjoyed Ascua totally. We enjoyed the Chefs Selection which covered every course that the kitchen produced, and every curse was superb. The standouts for me were the first course with the plate of picked local Swimmer Crab followed by the subsequent course of the Snapper on a bed of Risotto cooked in Squid Ink. Diane loved a new dish for her which was the Geraldton Cuttlefish; my bite was a little smoky but very tender. Her rare Beef Rump was grilled to perfection. The entire dinner was superb, and at another celebration, we will definitely return.
After recieving lots of rave reviews about Ascua from a friend, we were very excited to finally try it for a birthday. Unfortunately, it failed to meet expectations. The rump steak was so tough, it couldn’t be swallowed unless chewed for an excessively long time, the cuttle fish starter was over salted and the cheese plate looked like ingredients were just tossed into the plate.
Had high expectations based on rave reviews. Was a bit disappointed as the octopus which came in the seafood platter was very chewy. Several pieces of the wood fired broccoli were VERY charred but undercooked. Experience was altogether underwhelming. Service was pleasant.
Good service and ambience but my steak was over cooked
Absolutely perfect. Service was impeccable and food all delicious. Could not fault it!
We had a table of 8 for a rushed dinner before a play at His Majesty's theatre. The staff was so obliging and brought our food out so quickly. Everyone was happy with their meals, and the sides were amazing!! Would definitely go back to have a 3 course meal!
Perfect location for our business lunch. The lamb shoulder was spectacular. Excellent wine list.
Great meal and fantastic service
The crab was amazing
My steak was cooked exactly how I like it
We will return
Fabulous food and atmosphere we were the only women in the restaurant for lunch dont know why, the food was remarkable and we will be returning
Service is professional and courteous but very slow and lacking initiative. After waiting 20 minutes in a half full restaurant we gave up on getting a dessert menu and left without buying what would have been several dishes and drinks. The decor looks good but the atmosphere was spoiled by the side entrance door being repeatedly left open for the cold night air to blow in. The meals are attractive and good quality, although on the expensive side. Wait staff could have upsold a lot of drinks and extras if they had tried, even once.
Been here a few times now & the food has been great each time.
The food and service ... excellent! Our waiter was very helpful and attentive all night.
Service was slow to start and there weren’t many people in. But the food was great.
All the food is delicious! The staff are very friendly and you’ll have a great time! Come with more people so you can sample more food!!
Courteous ,helpful staff , good food and good service.
Have eaten here 3 or 4 times now and have not been disappointed.
Great value on the mains share plates and delicious food overall. Some small gripes with the table height in the booths which all my table of 4 found difficult for being too tall making it ironically uncomfortable for a booth seating. Also the lighting is harsh in places considering it is generally a pleasant dark-style ambience. The hatch hole to Heno & Rey tapas area near us was really disconcerting and the light above us was harsh. Looking forward to the hotel stylist visiting and mandating the light settings. Way too much being said here about the lighting but it's bad and affected the night and the food and service was excellent.
The food and service was impeccable.
We have already recommended it to family and friends.
We will return for our next special occasion
Steak was great - done as requested and served very timely. Will definitely be back!
Wanted to try somewhere new ... thoroughly enjoyed the Ascua experience. Great ambiance and one of the best tasting meals that we have had in a very long time. Portion size was well above average.
Highly recommend the restaurant
The menu was fabulous, the service friendly and professional. We loved it!
Good service nice food comfortable seating. However expensive
I had read reviews and was really looking forward to eating here. The restaurant has a nice fitout and our waitress was very friendly. The food was ok. I wouldn’t rave about it. You never know until you try and people have different tastes. Saying that the lamb and chicken were cooked really well. My big gripe was the fact that we ordered a side with our main which we were told was coming but it didn’t. We did wait a while but our food would have been cold if we had waited longer. We did tell our waitress after our plates had been taken away. She did apologise and said the restaurant had just been overrun with room service orders so was busy??? I’m not sure I like that excuse. We were then given a small pot of peppermint tea on the house as an apology. That concerts to one teabag in water. We weren’t asked if we drank tea we were just given it so fortunately we like peppermint tea otherwise that would have been wasted.
One of the best places I've eaten at and I have already recommended to at least 5 people since eating here 3 days ago
Amazing, food was fantastic, chef nick is exceptionally talented
Service by one female French waitress was very good. Food Good.
Unfortunately let down by the Manager lounging against the kitchen. Bench & talking to chef.& playing with his mobile phone.Spoiled the atmosphere.
Asked for desert menus & they were forgotten by another waiter who seemed like he was on another planet.
Is a shame as it’s got potential.
Beautiful dark sultry setting, menu was varied and interesting, food was incredibly elegant with great produce treated with utmost respect and presented beautifully. I had the scallops, woodfired snapper and squid ink risotto and dark chocolate tart and couldn't find a fault with any of it. Portion sizes were generous and staff had the perfect balance of attentive and invisible. Will definitely be back.
Had a lovely meal at Ascua before going to the Ballet. Food was yummy and interesting and wine was delicious. Staff were friendly and courteous and not bothered when we mentioned we needed to get to a show on time.
Food and service was very good. I have been three times now and the consistency is also very good.
Great range of meals available for one or to share. The kitchen with its open flame is in full view of the restaurant so you can see your meal getting prepared.
Love good woodfired cooked food, proteins were perfectly cooked and sides were tasty too. Great spot, would go back again to try other menu items.
Exceptional restaurant. The tomahawk was amazing. A great wine list and perfect service.
We enjoyed our time at the restaurant with friends. We all thought the food and service was fabulous.
