The hostess was rude when we first arrived making us feel as if our reservation was an inconvenience to her. We had to repeatedly ask for bread to be brought to the table. The waiter was very nice but the food for 2 of the 5 was awful. When we asked what was on the salmon, we were told “condiments” when I asked a second time we got the same response but in a snarky and curt manner.
I can not recommend this restaurant!!
Awesome Italian cuisine! To die-for Italian cheesecake, amazing cocktails and fun atmosphere! My favorite restaurant in SONO and lower Fairfield country
Our server was off the charts great! X Semi pro basketball player. Solid meal and we will go back.
We were there on a Tuesday night so not very busy. Food was generally very good, though I found the Bolognese sauce to pretty bland. Apps (arancini, antipasto and clams oreganato) were very good, as was the vodka sauce. Wine list was good and they had a special on bottles too that mad the pricing quite attractive.
My family and I have gone several times and it has always been excellent. The owners are very involved and the customer service is excellent. A definite family feel.
Great food served hot from the kitchen.
Welcoming family staff, solid Italian menu and mostly extra value with numerous combinations and specials. 1/2 priced wine nights Sunday AND Monday! I rated the noise level high as groups of loud bikers seem to be cruising up and down Washington that night, spoiling the desirability of “open air dining” In certainly not going to let that deter a return trip to Il Porto
We have returned 3 times because we love this restaurant!! You must try!
The food was amazing... loved the ambiance and vibe ... the owner, Rebecca is terrific and her cheesecake is “to die for”!! Great place!!
Good pizza and drinks. The calamari was over cooked. The main reason for my low review was an issue was a very loud woman who was speaking so loudly that it was hard to hear my dinner companion. To make matters worse she kept walking around the restaurant next to the tables and even behind the bar -obviously she works there. Our poor server Patrick who was incredibly attentive and nice was being screamed at by this woman. Made it impossible to enjoy the meal.
Food was wonderful, owners were on hand and very friendly.
The food was excellent. We had shrimp francese, a seafood special with mussels over pasta and chicken parmigiana(a huge portion). The service was attentive. They even offered us a complimentary limoncello with dessert. Gelato was very good.
The place has a very modern look. Since the weather was nice, they opened up the front window area and it is like dining outside. You can people watch as they walk by.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant and plan to return.
Always a fabulous dinner with the great host Rebecca!! The food is wonderful and her charisma makes it a delight to dine there!
Seems like they were having an off night. Service was not great with the waiter forgetting things like bread for the table and to bring the correct drink to our table twice. There wre two tables that sat by us where everyone was yelling at the top of their lungs which cannot be helped by the restaurant but made for a very unsettling dinner for two. Food was just ok .
Fabulous food, service and ambiance! Rebecca is the most incredible host!
You must try this incredible restaurant!
The food is consistently delicious and the service is friendly and efficient! Ambiance is great too - we love this little local go to restaurant!!
The branzino was pan-seared and finished in the pizza oven - I loved the cruncy edges;
The pork chop was so tender and tasty that I sopped my plate to get the very last morsel;
The ricotta-based cheesecake should be banned during Lent.
Rebecca, one of the owners, was wonderful and made feel like "membro della famiglia".
We eat here quite often and love it. We sometimes sit at bar and watch a game, or go with a bigger group and get a table. The pastas are all fresh and delicious. The entrees are good size portions and never disappoint. The apps are creative and great to share, and the pizzas are a great addition to any meal.
Great Ambiance, staff & the food was delicious. The linguine with clams was awesome & The Malbec was a great compliment. Tiramisu for dessert is a must
It was our first time and such a wonderful experience! They took great care of us and each course was delicious! We will definitely be back!
Great time as always, so much fun. Creature of habit I always get endive arugula salad with the 4 cheese pesto pizza, they got it perfect now with the crust cooked a tad bit longer, my husband always gets the burrata and the pork chop scarpariello, absolutely delicious.
My favorite go to restaurant/bar for night out with friends. Besides the cacio de pepe the arugula endive salad and 4 cheese pizza with pesto never disappoints. The staff is so accommodating with all my vegetarian requests and very friendly. restaurant is always clean with a modern decor. Hidden gem
Trite, uninspired menu; bland, unseasoned food; stale, flavorless bread. Great beer; attentive waitstaff. Leftover Xmas lights. Need a new chef & creative menu.
I'm sorry you did not have a nice experience, however, our food is very fresh as i eat there 6 days a week. Our holiday lights were left up as a customer requested for a rehearsal dinner. We have never had anyone say our food was bland or unseasoned. Our bread is delivered by Terra Nova, it is not served to be seasoned. We cannot please everyone all the time as much as i would love to, but its just impossible. Our customers have commented many times on the simple menu.
This place was good. I wouldn't say the food was outstanding but it was good. Pizza should have been a little more well done. Meatballs were delicious. The pasta was good but not homemade. This place is definitely good for the area it's in but I am comparing to all the Italian food I eat in New York city too. This place is a solid 3 out of 5.
The food is this restaurant’s main draw. The chicken scarpariello was spicy and just perfect. As was the cheesecake and special lemonciello. The hospitality was awkward at times. My party was 15 minutes behind our 6:30 pm reservation and as soon as we arrived, we were told by the owner that we were already marked as no shows. It happened to be the Sunday before New Years and was dead quiet with the exception of one other table that seemed to be regulars. The owner’s husband (or father, we are not quite sure which because he twice made a joke about it) came by the table a couple of times and recommended our main courses which I did appreciate. The moderately loud playlist consisted of U2 and Bruce Springsteen and added to the restaurant’s charm. Sunday is one of the 1/2 priced wine bottle nights. The wine that would have been marked up by $64 was only priced $16 above what you might pay at the store. The temperature of the red wine was slightly chilled which I find is always nice. I’ll come back for the chicken but likely will not be for a special occasion.
Great service and food was delicious! It’s a casual yet fun place for delicious Italian food right on Washington in Norwalk.
The owner, Ralph, came to our table to make sure everything was perfect and to our liking several times. We ordered a delicious red wine, non alcoholic beer, and they made a special lemoncello martini too!
The cheese cake , home made , and caramel gelato were fantastic!
We will definitely go back and really enjoyed the vibe!
Il Posto definitely over delivered as it relates to service and most of all food. The antipasto is AMAZING. Frankie the bartender makes delicious cocktails and Rebecca, the owner is front of the house making sure everyone is happy. She made my group feel like we were at her home, sitting around her dining room table and enjoying great food and conversation. A definite “must” in Norwalk. Super fresh ingredients!
Drinks and salads were amazing! Sunday evening was quiet but I can see this place getting pretty loud on weekend nights with live music. Our server was attentive without being overbearing. Will def come back again!
We had a very good pasta dinner at il Posto. Pasta was well prepared and cooked right. Salads were very fresh and plentiful. We did not have dessert. Service was attentive and friendly. It could be noisy as the restaurant is not large and has all hard surfaces but was okay the night we were there. Parking in the area is tricky now because of construction on the rear parking garage. There is a pay parking garage on the street.
Great food and service. Loved that the owners were there making sure everything went well. Will be back.
It was ok. The food was average. We ordered the pork chop and after we were told it would take 25 minutes to cook. Our waiter was very nice but did not speak English well and had a hard time understanding our orders. The place was nice and clean.
Pizza and Cesar salads no where near as good as at strata - establishment there before. Mediocre.
Fantastic dinner with friends. Food was spectacular. Venue was hectic but comfortable, res was a must for a Sat night.
After dinner, the owner brought out homemade lemoncello, which was fantastic. Great choice, thanks open table!
We sat in the bar area at dinner time since there were only a few people at the bar and it is brighter than seating in back. Huge mistake! So noisy we couldn’t have a conversation! Food just ok. Will not be returning
Outstanding food and brilliant service at this new Italian bistro in the heart of SoNo. Good wine list and cocktails- be sure to experience the home made limoncello.
My sister was visiting from Chicago and we came here for the first time - amazing food, wonderful service and we were served homemade limoncello that was out of this world! Highly recommended!
great food, great service. got to sit at the tables by open doors , protected from the rain but felt like we were outdoors. very fun
We had been to the previous incarnation in the same spot and liked it. But we enjoyed this one even more. The food was very good, if not exceptional and the service was even better. We enjoyed the tasty bites of crostini offered as a complimentary starter. One of the owners came over and introduced himself to us which is always appreciated and treated us to a nice Lemincello. Small things go a long way. We will definitely return.
We immediately knew we were in the old Stada 18, which was a favorite
Started with mussels and the endive salad.... Fabulous..
The 4 of us loved our dinners..
Orriecheta with broccoli rabe and sausage, pasta primavera, chicken parmesan and linguini with clams..
We're coming back.
