Two of the signature dishes at this ristorante star seafood. The first is “Linguine al cartoccio” - a seafood ragu pasta, wrapped in baking paper and oven-baked.
This is typical Sicilian recipe using all fresh seafood, fresh tomato, chili, and once it’s ready, removed from the oven, and serve it to the guest who can then eat the steaming pasta inside.” The second signature dish at Il Nostro Posto is the “Guazzetto in Crosta”. It is a seafood stew, cooked with fresh seafood and covered with pizza dough, oven baked until it becomes a delicious seafood pie.

Nice cosy environment with enjoyable food. The pizza was delicious! Hardware Lane is a fun place to go out, as it has a lively feel, but the restaurant itself felt more intimate.
I used to be a regular. Went for a special birthday. Two waitresses could barely speak English, waited 30 minutes to order, so service too slow and indifferent. No longer $20 lunch specials. Asked for glasses of house sparkling wine - ended up being $15.50 per glass of presecco. No pepper in two grinders. Had to ask twice for parmesan. Therefore, whole experience spoilt - not value for money. Whereas I used to recommend all and sundry to go to Il Nostro Posto I no longer will be as I'm just so disappointed
Great food and perfect setting for an ambient evening with friends. The food was delicious and the choices were typically Italian.

The last meal I had here was very good, but this time a bit disappointing. The buffalo milk/prociutto entre was lovely, tho I would have liked more balsamic vinegar. I should have selected the House Signature dish when I saw it on the online menu, but chose the eye fillet, which came under-prepared and was mediocre. The place can get very noisy since it's small and in a very busy alley in the CBD, but hey, it's Italian, and authentically so.
The food was fantastic especially the HOUSE SIGNATURE DISH - SEAFOOD “GUAZZETTO DI PESCE IN CROSTA”. The seafood bisque was simply amazing! We asked for more bread so we could dip in and savour the remaining sauce till the last drop. The waiters were warm, friendly and personable. They put a candle on our poached pear dessert and sang happy birthday in Italian for my Aunt's birthday. She was over the moon! Great authentic food, ambience and service! What else could you ask for!
Four of us went for my birthday dinner......we were not disappointed👏👏 Food was fabulous, each of our dishes was unique and authentic Italian. Our waiter was a dick, but hey......food is what its all about! Would recommend🍽🍷🍴🍾🍸🍻

Everybody enjoyed the food, waiter was very attentive and pleasant, food was served in a timely manner, was delicious, drinks were the required temperature for type. The only criticism is that you do not split bills, this is not only annoying but takes quite a bit of time, possibly something to consider.
The food was quite good and there was plenty of service. However the waiters were a little off hand and at times bordering on arrogant. They were perhaps a little too enthusiastic in suggesting extra courses.
Perhaps the more dampening aspect was to be told that the bill could not be split two ways. I do not recall seeing a sign to that effect.

I was charged an extra 50 cents on my salad. My order was pear rocket salad but it was bland and had limited visual aesthetic. I thought I could make the salad myself. We went for a colleague's birthday. The guy took us one picture, which not everyone was looking. Extra credit card surcharge was not advised. I think overall, the service was overpriced. Never going back.
We were seeking a great, authentic Italian restaurant in Melbourne for a casual dinner and booked a table of 5 at Il Nostro Posto. We arrived to find that the laneway was filled with similar restaurants and 'hawkers' at every entrance trying to entice you into their restaurant. Our restaurant was around 60% full and we had a table on the second level overlooking the laneway. Any other indoor table would have been a disappointment but the large glass window made our spot acceptable. The food was solid and was of a good size and flavour. The service was pretty hit & miss - we waited a long time to order drinks, food arrived quite quickly and we had a few different people attending the table. We ended up getting up to pay the check as there was no-one in sight when we were trying to finalize the bill. The restaurant felt very touristy and was reasonable value...I would not recommend but may suit those looking for an experience that has a European piazza feel (busy outdoor seating with lots of people hassling for you to join them).
I had the dinner with a few friends from overseas. We sat in the outdoor area with the warm sunlight between around 6.30pm-8pm. It was bright and we enjoyed it! The staff are so warm and nice from the moment you walked in. A gentleman introduced chef's special with clear explanations and hospitality. I had home made ravioli and gelato for dessert. The thick layer of tomato sauce blended well with the pastry and the cheese. I loved the gelato with dry apricot!
