Great food and good Service
A favorite restaurant for many years.
This time it was for an important business lunch.
They messed up the reservation and gave our table to someone else, which they admitted to doing. Instead they seated us at the table opposite the kitchen door. Worst in the restaurant. Did nothing to apologize or make up for it. Restaurant was not crowded so no reason for it. Very disappointing and very unlike their usual attentiveness. Waiter didn't even try to smile. Will think twice next time.
Everything was professionally served and we enjoyed our meals. I had a special of St Peters fish that was cooked on the bone and filleted before it was served. A crispy salad of lettuces and carrots was a light and fresh way to start off the meal. Our waiter, who was delightful, gave us excellent wine advice. The room became a little bit noisy as more diners arrived but all in all it was a serene and elegant dinner.

This was my 3rd time to eat here. The food was a real disappointment this time. I ordered a salad and it seemed tasteless. It just had no taste. I think I was the first salad. My entree was ok, but not anything special. I had lasagna.
My husband ordered octopus and said it was a disappointment, as well. His fish entree was very good. He had cod. We stayed at the Peninsula around the corner, so it was a nice walk and thought it would be a great choice for us, but the quality of the food was not up to par and not worth the high prices at all.
Sorry to say, but think you need to know.
We had two small children with us and the staff was very accommodating to meet their needs. We were there for the Sunday jazz brunch and it was great. Wonderful place for romantic dinner for two or a family outing. They make everyone feel special.
Food was unique and wonderful with fresh ingredients and creative displays. Wine was from Italy and was a great complement to the dishes.

This is an excellent Northern Italian restaurant. Nice variety of pasta, meat and fish. Very interesting pastas - somewhat out of the ordinary fare. Service is wonderful and the place is pretty quiet, so it's good for a romantic dinner or a business meeting.
Very good Italian, a must go in NYC.

perhaps brunch isn't gattopardo's sweet spot, as the offerings were definitely pedestrian, and also "east-side priced." even the carbonara--which should have no excuses in an italian restaurant--was overly salty and a mingey serving at that.
all that said, however, the two desserts we had (there were 4 of us), were delicious, as were the cappuccinos we ordered with them. AND the restaurant is right across the street from the 54th st entrance of MoMA, which makes it very convenient for a museum-going afternoon.
The food was excellent! The service was outstanding I would definitely recommend this restaurant!

Ok the food was honestly good not great especially for the price BUT the service and ambiance were awesome and the wine was solid.

Granted it was Valentine’s Day so I didn’t mind waiting an extra 20 minutes to be seated. We were however seated downstairs at the entrance of the steps which was not decorated and very uninspiring. The back area certainly looks more inviting and romantic. The waiter was very nice. My $20 glass of Nebbiolo was a wine I would never order again. The octopus appetizer was fantastic. Since we shared it they were kind enough to present it on two separate plates which was very nice. My wife ordered a lobster risotto but the pieces of lobster or more like microscopic flakes that were smaller than the risotto itself which was undercooked and hard. And It didn’t have much flavor. We did mention it to the waiter when he asked how things were and he did make an attempt to try to fix but we wanted the order done right the first time.
I ordered the meatloaf that was just meh at best but it was $40. I expect $40 meatloaf to be better.
The front of house seemed slammed at the beginning given the holiday and they did a good job of managing people. But I would never go back and nor would my wife.
This is becoming one of the truly great restaurants in New York. This is our third time there, and each time the food has been wonderful, the service superb, and ambiance beautiful. Terrific!
The food, the wine, the service (both wait and bus staff) were very good. Little touches like bringing the bottle to the table for wine by the glass and dividing an appetizer in the kitchen add to the quality of dining.
Polished, sleek, long-standing restaurant housed in the lower levels of a Rockefeller townhouse behind MOMA. Host welcome pleasant but perfunctory and distracted. Vibe is pleasant and busy, mostly pre-theater crowd. Food is excellent ..... gnocchi appetizer (special), John Dory for 2 with broccoli rabe (special) ....simple but top notch. Wine selection is very large, broad, and priced to appeal to a varied clientele .... a number of bottles under $100. Service is pleasant, professional, not overbearing, yet sometimes inattentive. Pricing boarders on the ridiculous .... $45 for gnocchi?, $140 for fish for 2 ??? With wine, tax, and tip you're approaching $500 for 2 . It's good but not that good! Recommended with caution on price.
My husband and I had an amazing Valentines Day dinner here before seeing Josh Groban! The food was absolutely amazing! The only thing that was even better was the attention we received from all of the wait staff! Everyone made us feel very special, all were attentive to our every need. We will be back in a few weeks when we will be returning for another NYC event for sure! This is a restaurant worth the price of any selection on their menu!!! Simply amazing!!

I have returned to Il Gattopardo many times over the years and have always had a wonderful experience. The staff are very attentive and the food is fantastic.
Probably NYC's finest Italian restaurant hands down, period! Everything is always perfect including the warmth of the owner Gianfranco. Please, do not let too many people know about this absolute gem of a restaurant. Only tell you BEST friends!

This place will be worth every penny spent. I will forever be taking my wife here when we visit New York City. The staff were extremely knowledgeable and patient. The ambiance of the restaurant feels above a five star rating. And the food itself is absolutely incredible.
We had a wonderful evening at Il Gattopardo. Luigi welcomed us warmly and Enzo took outstanding care of us. This restaurant continues to be a favorite, and never disappoints.
The food was obviously made by chefs who care deeply about their craft. The service was very attentive and never intrusive or, mercifully, snooty. The ambiance understated and comfortable. When the check arrives one must remember that value does not equate to price.

The broccoli romanesco recetta had no condiment, just raw broccoli with a few anchovies on top. Tasteless.
Pasta was a gigantic portion of spaghettini in clam sauce. There was so much pasta that you could not even taste the sauce again. And the served a spoon with it like "real Italian" style. Very disappointing experience.
Absolutely fantastic food, wine, and service. The suggestions were spot on, the pasta cooked perfectly. So glad we decided to try this place.
Waiter service was excellent. Maitre d’ was indifferent to unknowns and fawning to regulars. Overpriced: $18 for a simple salad! Absurd. We both had fish, outstanding. Well prepared and well presented.
