This restaurant is permanently closed. In the tradition of Italy's trattorias, the sight, sounds and aromas of authentic Italian cuisine are recreated fresh everyday at Il Fornaio. Literally "the baker" in Italian, Il Fornaio offers wood-fired rotisserie and grilled meats, poultry and game; housemade and imported pastas; pizzas from a wood burning oven; fresh salads and housemade soups; antipasti and a wide variety of desserts made daily from scratch. The first two weeks of each month a special menu from a different region of Italy is featured as part of Festa Regionale.

Parking at Il Fornaio Garage will always be 2 hours free for our guests. Please check in with us when you arrive.

So SADDENED to hear of the closing of IL Fornaio. We have been dining there since the opening, 10 years ago. It was like a fine wine. It got better with age. Management was excellent and waitstaff very professional. Reston Towne Center is losing a "real gem"!

Great restaurant...never had a bad meal. Closest thing to Italy that we have found. So sad this location is closing. Hopefully they will decide to reopen at a new, nearby locatoon.

For the past five years we have dined here at least monthly; needless to say it was among our favorite restaurants. But we were shocked to learn that its corporate HQ in California has decided to close its only doors on the East Coast for good as of June 30th. What a pity; and a BIG MISTAKE on corporate's part! Ciao, Il Fornaio. You leave hundreds of Virginia faithful in the process!

We are sad to hear that Il Fornaio is leaving Reston Town Center. It was a great location with good Italian food. We'd celebrated many family get-togethers there. Heard that the lease renewal had too many issues that couldn't be resolved. Restaurant business is tough.

My husband and I love coming here and are so sad that it's closing down. Wish they would have another one open up in Northern VA instead of closing the only one existing in VA.

Unfortunately, "Il Fornaio" Reston is closing!! we are devastated! Where else can we get 'high end" Italian food near by!! Wish they would open in a different location.

Food has always been consistently good. If you want Italian you won't be disappointed. W enjoy the outdoor seating and it has a vibrant happy hour

Our group had both vegetarians and non-vegetarians and we were pleased with the selection of food that was offered. Everyone loved the food, the ambiance, and the service. Our server was on top of her game and took excellent care of us throughout the night. We will definitely be back!

This is the first time I am writing a review.
I took my parents to this place for Fathers day, my 97 year old father and his nurse arrived earlier than I, the hostess moved him to the bar area and made him wait for almost 15 min.
When we arrived and requested to be seated instead of sitting us with others in the white table cloth dinning they sat us at the end of the bar without any proper setting.
The waiter had no experience and did not have proper manners either, we all ordered eggs from brunch menu, since my father has a very restrict diet I ordered an egg white omelet for him, they refused to make him one, the explanation was they don't have egg whites, my dad had to eat fruit and bread, seems the kitchen doesn't know how to separate egg yolk from white.
I use to own several restaurant in Washington DC area, never ever seen such disrespect for customer.

Always good -- don't expect "The Best" pasta, but it's always good and their pizza is delicious. wines are nice and their servers are really great! Decent price for reliable local Italian.

Food was good, but not particularly special, and it's should have been, given the prices. Was charged a bottle of wine for what was actually a glass, had to have bill corrected. Quite noisy.

We were a group of 9 celebrating birthdays. All our food was excellent. Service was extremely slow. Our waiter seemed to lose interest in us after the meals came out.

The Italian food is authentic and fabulous. Our 5&7 year old grandkids love coming here. Great pizza, great pasta, great salads. Kid friendly but not disruptive. Like that there are two sizes on the pasta.

I was disappointed in the service for a Mother's Day dinner with my parents. The waiter took a place setting away, although one person was still coming in and wasn't sure where they'd sit, so he arranged it again, but when we moved seats, he just walked away and would rearrange the place setting. Small thing, but seemed rude. I'm sure he was busy, but his responsiveness was slow and it took forever to get another glass of wine. Maybe he was tired, maybe having a bad day, but just got the feeling that he didn't want to be doing this job and that reflected on his service. The food was very nice (Penne w/ Vodka sauce and seafood linguini). And, no goodbye from the host at the door. The whole experience just left us with a neglected feeling, which was not the intent for Mother's Day! But, I will be back as I have had good service in the past. Just maybe have an attitude-check with your wait staff! :)

Our group of 6 had two celiacs and a vegetarian, called out to our server as we were seated. (No GF bread available) Two of us order the seasonal menu option, four order pasta as a main course. 1.5 hours to deliver the main course - the two celiacs would have ordered apps had they known of the wait. Food was excellent once it arrived. Low marks for setting expectations on wait time, GF apps options during the wait and communication from wait staff in general. The kitchen was behind (other families had the same wait) but the food was hot / good quality once it arrived. This was a busy night for them, so a slow kitchen is understandable. The wait could have been managed differently / would have made a big difference in the rating overall.

Noise levels were loud, but not obnoxious. Pockets of sound were bouncing off of walls and towards our seating area - making it difficult to have a conversation without raising our voices and adding to the noise.

My recommendation endorsement is about the food quality and menu creativity. Excellent selections that are well prepared.

We dined here for Mothers Day and it was wonderful! The host and our server were great! Had to wait just a bit but this was very understandable as it was busy with Mothers Day diners and I'm sure it is hard to guage how long guests will sit after their meal. Thank you!!

we went there for Mothers Day dinner. Food was good. Server was awkward, not sure if he was new or just unqualified. Couldn't explain the menu very well and couldn't understand what he was saying as he sort of mumbled and couldn't hear him too well. It was an ok evening- we've had better experiences here at other times.

The veal was superb. We had great service at our table. They have exceptional bread great vegetable medleys. Nicely chilled Martinis too. We appreciated the service.

I've had improperly cooked pasta at Il Fornaio on more than one occasion before this, but Reston was a new location for us and I thought I'd give it another chance. I'm so sorry I did. Our calamari was very chewy with none of the satisfying crunch for which one orders the dish. My entree order was entered incorrectly, and they had to remake my meal and thus put everyone's food on hold and probably put the other dishes under a heat lamp for an extended period. I don't know what to call my husband's ravioli other than undercooked and uninspired. He has great taste but certainly isn't picky, and he stopped eating one or two pieces in. My mother in law's salmon was $27 for a tiny, boring, over cooked piece of fish. My eggs Benedict were basically fine, I'm actually shocked that the poached eggs weren't totally botched. To finish off, we got a check reflecting the wrong meal for me, and prices $1-2 more for two of our dishes than were listed on the menu. We paid the extra without complaining because we just wanted to get out of there. I am ashamed I picked this restaurant to spend on the one day we'll likely have in the next 6 months with my mother in law. I'll never go back to an Il Fornaio, despite my fond memories of the bread basket at the previously acceptable location in Walnut Creek (which has since also served my family over cooked and overpriced pasta).
