Love this place! We go for happy hour a lot here. It’s in a great spot and the food and drinks are delicious and well-priced. We had never eaten dinner there though. It was a pleasant surprise. The service was attentive but not intrusive. We went with old friends we hadn’t seen in years and so we were slow to order...too busy talking. The waiter was very patient. The food was delicious and the portions were just right. Will definitely go back.
The Restaurant is quaint, clean and inviting. The staff was wonderful and attentive. Our table had the Salmon Special, The Gnocci, The Rigatoni and The Lasgana. Everyone was pleased EXCEPT for the Lasagna. Having been in Italy a few months ago and someone who makes a killer lasagna at home, this version disappointed. Didn't see where adding lamb to it enhanced it, the overall dish was clumsy and did not have the flavors I look forward to. HOWEVER, the Salmon and the Gnocci were excellent! Would I recommend IL Bistro, yes, have the Gnocci
Almost didn’t eat here fearing it was another “tourist trap” (Pike Place) restaurant. So glad I did. Great spot, very good food and attentive but not overbearing service. Rated it four stars overall instead of five only because the restrooms are not accessible.
Good food and the rose petals were well done. Seating was too small for a couple though, would love the same setup with a bigger seating for two.
The atmosphere and service was quite wonderful, nothing to complain about in particular. The only reason I would not go back is the food, sub par which was unfortunate.
Birthday dinner - gave us a cozy circular booth, our server was great, the food was great, romantic ambiance. We enjoyed very much!
Unfortunately the view was of a graffiti tagged wall. It was a little less than we expected. Service was good, but not wow great. The food however was phenomenal. Halibut so soft it melted in my mouth and the most exquisite fig and marscapone ravioli. It is pricey, but we very much enjoyed our dinner.
Our food (pasta) was great and the service was fantastic! We sat outside which gives you a great people watching experience when you want it, but still plenty of privacy. Great place!
Il Bistro did not come through for us on the night we visited, despite Trip Advisor rating it one of the highest in the area. Perhaps it was an off night, but the food wasn’t seasoned well for multiple dishes (3 of the 5 we ordered). We left feeling as if we paid a lot for very little quality. I ate only half of the pasta dish that I ordered, underwhelmed. Service was excellent.
Good food, traditional Italian fare. I wish the view was better. I’d go here again.
Very quiet and comfortable restaurant. Excellent menu and wine choices. The manager and staff were very courteous and appreciated our visit.
Wonderful evening here. Meals were delicious and portions were sizable (enough to be full without leaving a bunch behind). Wonderfully intimate and cozy. First time there and we felt like we were treated as long-time customers. Very personal and professional all around.
The food and service were, as always, impeccable. Unfortunately, there was a large group of 15 sitting right behind us. We asked to move, because the noise was deafening, but we were told there was no other table. We should have left but toughed it out. Our ears were ringing for hours after. It ruined the entire evening. If I’ll Bistro doesn’t have a separate banquet room, they should not take reservations of that size. It isn’t fair to the other diners.
I’ve lived in Seattle for 5 years and thought this place looked touristy and would be overpriced. Just went there and it was actually excellent, and the price point was lower than expected! Would definitely recommend. Our steak did come out over cooked, but they recooked us another one and comped our dessert - great service!
Lovely restaurant, with excellent service and great food and drinks.
We started with a scrumptious egg ravioli in a brown butter sage sauce. The egg yolk in the center was a big surprise. The egg plant/zucchini ratatouille type dish was wonderful. I loved the whole garlic cloves in it! The entrees were a little disappointing. The duck was overdone and a bit salty, although the flavors were great! The steak with foie gras sauce didn't have enough foie gras flavor but was good otherwise. The desserts were delicious - the panna cotta and the gelato with a whiskey? sauce (my husband had that and loved it, not so much myself). The service was excellent.
This is our 2nd trip to Il Bistro as we are from north Idaho. It was a great experience both times! The food is very good as well as the service!
Except for the people making out at the bar it was good. The bartender was excellent.
Absolutely wonderful! The gnocchi was the best I have ever tasted. Our server recommended the Super Tuscan red blend wine which was fantastic. We were shown to a quiet, candlelit table which was romantic and great for having a conversation. Overall, we were blown away and will be returning soon.
Very good service, menu had great options and the food was very good. Wine recommendation was great and very good pricing.
Lovely presentation of food. Attentive service staff.
We love this place, for happy hour OR for a nice dinner.
Generally a very good experience. The Waitress was perhaps a little confused by our eclectic choice of dishes........but we obviously didn't charm her........ and vice versa. Value for money was excellent with the exception of the $12 plate of asparagus ( $2.99 a pound at next door Pike place market) .......... but we will certainly return on a regular basis. Thank you...... Mick
Great place. I will most likely make this a regular spot.
The whole experience was just okay.
I had the gemelli pasta which was basically Mac and cheese, it was baked but not crispy instead hard and chewy on top. We did have meatballs as a side which I have to say were delicious! My boyfriend had the special: prawn risotto which was tasty but again, nothing special. Our waitress was fine, she did her job, made sure we didn’t need anything, but seemed wholly disinterested in being there.
Big disappointment given a great location by the market. The calamari was different than anything we’ve ever had. We needed to add a lot of lemon to it to give it any flavor. The lasagna wasn’t much better. The bottom layer of my wife’s lasagna was burnt so bad she couldn’t cut it. But if you like lasagna noodles, lots of ricotta and tasteless tomato sauce, and very little meat than this is the lasagna for you. We’re not picky eaters, but neither one of us could finish eating our meals. Service was interesting.
Three of us enjoyed the Restaurant Week menu at Il Bistro early on a Sunday evening. All staff were gracious and attentive; the ambience was pleasing. Our food was superb (I had Caesar Salad, Hangar Steak, and Lemon Ginger Panna Cotto) and wine delicious. It is the best meal of its type I've had in Seattle, and I can't wait to go back!
Our server was INCREDIBLE, I do not remember his name but he was so kind and knowledgeable. Moroccan gentleman who was also a sommelier!
Our server was polite and attentive. One of the specials - the cod - has run out so I was offered the albacore tuna as a substitute. I accepted but when the dish came, the tuna was awful. It was so dry, it had to be cut with a knife. I couldn’t eat it. Our server did take it off the bill but I was disappointed.
The meal was delicious. We had a relaxing time enjoying every bite in a romantic setting.
Our server was excellent!
The service was generally fine, and the waitress was very nice. But the food was a bit of a disappointment. It was good, but it wasn’t quite worth the cost, even at Seattle Restaurant Week prices. The burrata salad needed balsamic or something, and I think the menu even listed that as an ingredient. It would have been phenomenal if it were actually included. The rigatoni was cold, likely due to waiting for the hanger steak that my date had to finish cooking. I did try a bit of the hanger steak, and it was probably the best item. But the flavor of it dwarfed the flavor of the sides, which were layered underneath it and thus difficult to enjoy in their own respects. The desserts were very well made and wonderful. The cocktails were particularly lovely, as I believe is the reputation of Il Bistro. And the ambiance was a wonderful escape from the bustling of Pike Place.
Every bite of every dish was delicious. Food made with expertise to wow the palate. So grateful for finally having a meal that was excellent from start to finish. Nice pink colored ambient light, feels cozy and makes you look good!
Mushroom ravioli and goat cheese crostini were amazing.
Just an outstanding experience! We loved everything about this place. Will be going back more often.
Throughout the years Il Bistro has been a go-to for drinks on a Friday night or for celebrating. Although the decor may have changed, the ambiance, service and quality of food has not. As I said on my way out, what I'll remember is how they made us feel...once again, expectations exceeded, everything was simply wonderful!
Super noisy, but fun place under the Pike Place Market. The food is decent if uninspired. The atmosphere is energetic and as there is no soundproofing, it's so noisy even the waiters cannot hear when taking your order. Wait staff is understaffed and overworked. They do their best under challenging conditions.
Still, all in all, it's a good choice for a lively drink with friends. For a quieter dinner, make a later evening reservation.
My fiancé and I went for her birthday. They were appreciative of us choosing them for our date. The waiter was courteous, kind and respectful. Knew his stuff and knew when to give us our space.
It was a nice spot recommended by a local for our first night in Seattle.
A little too dark so hard to read menu.
