Great Italian food. Pretty decent wine list...we had a fantastic Borolo.
We have been to Il Bistro a few times now, and this was the first time where I wondered if I would return. I always liked the dark atmosphere; it makes it feel very romantic and candle-lit. But, our server seemed not super confident, maybe she was either inexperienced or new, my main dish was a little too salty and for the first time I noticed how 1980s the chairs looked. Also, we were celebrating our anniversary, and I mentioned this in the notes of my reservation, but it was not acknowledged, nor were we asked if we were celebrating anything that night, so that was a little disappointing.
I would still recommend if you've never been; it's a lovely place and the food is good, but I think I may be branching out in the future when looking for a romantic dinner out.
Let me tell you about our experience with.. RANDY. Enough said. Anyone experience this guy?!! Why is this person ruining Il Bistros image? Never met a more pompous, arrogant human running front of the house. A beautiful evening out with my husband celebrating our wedding anniversary.. too much terrible detail to write.. but the great highlights..
* RANDY invaded our personal space to tell us “the answer is NO” you can’t sit at the other table.
* Our lovely server, Sophia, moved us to the desired table, and RANDY came over to interrupt our dinner and scold us.. "so did you just go ahead and seat yourself?! I just want you to know, when you come into this restaurant, you are a guest, not the boss”
* Bill was paid and delivered by.. RANDY, with the middle finger (flipped us off and told us to never to come back)!
*Thank RANDY on way out the door.. make Beauty and the Beast “be our guest” reference.. told “I’m the beast” (funny, he actually has the exact same haircut as the Beast) lol
Literally the most horrible experience (thanks RANDY) that we’ve encountered in our local and international culinary dining.
Side note, another couple that have been loyal patrons for 6 years were told to leave by, guess who, RANDY!!
this guy needs to leave!
The most romantic, appealing and comfortable restaurant in Seattle. We had one of the best meals I have every had in Seattle. The calamari was perfect, Burrata and beet salad wonderful, and the buttery lemon gnocchi was amazing. I cannot recommend enough.
I had booked a birthday party celebration for three with a fourth party calling the restaurant to pick up part of the dinner tab. Fourth party was never charged, bill was split three-ways, and I was charged an additional $252. Have called the restaurant several times, finally left a message, but no one has returned my call. Very disappointed. Dinner experience was great, but how they handled the bill was poor.
Starters and wine were great, but mains were terrible. Pasta lacked flavor and fish special was mushy with clumpy polenta.
16 people seated at a nearby table made the noise level intolerable for everyone else in the dining room.
The food and service were very good.
The bar is the best.
Yes we love Il Bistro especially in the summer when you can sit outside and watch all the people and color of the market!!
We loved IL bistro!!! We LOVE it!!!
Great host, great server, great food, and great wine. Perfect date night.
Hard to find but worth the effort
We ate on outside deck and food and service were wonderful. My wife said her salmon was the best she ever has eaten. Cioppino was excellent as well.
We had a lovely dinner! The ambiance was wonderful. Our server was professional and efficient. The food and wine were outstanding!
Food was good, but nothing out of the ordinary. Wait staff was friendly, but slower than I prefer. It was quiet enough that we could talk without yelling which was refreshingly unusual. All in all we enjoyed the evening, but probably won’t remember it in a week.
Fantastic wine service and great service overall. The beet salad was amazing.
The best gnocchi. Fun atmosphere. Good for people watching sitting outside.
Il Bistro never disappoints. Whether it is a cozy winter dinner inside or dining outside on a lovely summer evening, the food, service and ambience are impeccable. Il Bistro is a Seattle gem.
Excellent food and quality
The staff welcomed us and knew who we were before we introduced ourselves. The waiter recommended a special hors d'oeuvre that was delicious. The staff was attentive to details (waters, wine, bread...) throughout the meal.
I had the risotto with chicken confit which was excellent! Loved the quiet, charming atmosphere and great service. Will definitely return on our next visit to Seattle.
Love this place! We go for happy hour a lot here. It’s in a great spot and the food and drinks are delicious and well-priced. We had never eaten dinner there though. It was a pleasant surprise. The service was attentive but not intrusive. We went with old friends we hadn’t seen in years and so we were slow to order...too busy talking. The waiter was very patient. The food was delicious and the portions were just right. Will definitely go back.
The Restaurant is quaint, clean and inviting. The staff was wonderful and attentive. Our table had the Salmon Special, The Gnocci, The Rigatoni and The Lasgana. Everyone was pleased EXCEPT for the Lasagna. Having been in Italy a few months ago and someone who makes a killer lasagna at home, this version disappointed. Didn't see where adding lamb to it enhanced it, the overall dish was clumsy and did not have the flavors I look forward to. HOWEVER, the Salmon and the Gnocci were excellent! Would I recommend IL Bistro, yes, have the Gnocci
Almost didn’t eat here fearing it was another “tourist trap” (Pike Place) restaurant. So glad I did. Great spot, very good food and attentive but not overbearing service. Rated it four stars overall instead of five only because the restrooms are not accessible.
Good food and the rose petals were well done. Seating was too small for a couple though, would love the same setup with a bigger seating for two.
The atmosphere and service was quite wonderful, nothing to complain about in particular. The only reason I would not go back is the food, sub par which was unfortunate.
Birthday dinner - gave us a cozy circular booth, our server was great, the food was great, romantic ambiance. We enjoyed very much!
Unfortunately the view was of a graffiti tagged wall. It was a little less than we expected. Service was good, but not wow great. The food however was phenomenal. Halibut so soft it melted in my mouth and the most exquisite fig and marscapone ravioli. It is pricey, but we very much enjoyed our dinner.
Our food (pasta) was great and the service was fantastic! We sat outside which gives you a great people watching experience when you want it, but still plenty of privacy. Great place!
Il Bistro did not come through for us on the night we visited, despite Trip Advisor rating it one of the highest in the area. Perhaps it was an off night, but the food wasn’t seasoned well for multiple dishes (3 of the 5 we ordered). We left feeling as if we paid a lot for very little quality. I ate only half of the pasta dish that I ordered, underwhelmed. Service was excellent.
Good food, traditional Italian fare. I wish the view was better. I’d go here again.
Always order the risotto! Never fails to impress.
Very quiet and comfortable restaurant. Excellent menu and wine choices. The manager and staff were very courteous and appreciated our visit.
Wonderful evening here. Meals were delicious and portions were sizable (enough to be full without leaving a bunch behind). Wonderfully intimate and cozy. First time there and we felt like we were treated as long-time customers. Very personal and professional all around.
The food and service were, as always, impeccable. Unfortunately, there was a large group of 15 sitting right behind us. We asked to move, because the noise was deafening, but we were told there was no other table. We should have left but toughed it out. Our ears were ringing for hours after. It ruined the entire evening. If I’ll Bistro doesn’t have a separate banquet room, they should not take reservations of that size. It isn’t fair to the other diners.
I’ve lived in Seattle for 5 years and thought this place looked touristy and would be overpriced. Just went there and it was actually excellent, and the price point was lower than expected! Would definitely recommend. Our steak did come out over cooked, but they recooked us another one and comped our dessert - great service!
Lovely restaurant, with excellent service and great food and drinks.
We started with a scrumptious egg ravioli in a brown butter sage sauce. The egg yolk in the center was a big surprise. The egg plant/zucchini ratatouille type dish was wonderful. I loved the whole garlic cloves in it! The entrees were a little disappointing. The duck was overdone and a bit salty, although the flavors were great! The steak with foie gras sauce didn't have enough foie gras flavor but was good otherwise. The desserts were delicious - the panna cotta and the gelato with a whiskey? sauce (my husband had that and loved it, not so much myself). The service was excellent.
This is our 2nd trip to Il Bistro as we are from north Idaho. It was a great experience both times! The food is very good as well as the service!
Except for the people making out at the bar it was good. The bartender was excellent.
Absolutely wonderful! The gnocchi was the best I have ever tasted. Our server recommended the Super Tuscan red blend wine which was fantastic. We were shown to a quiet, candlelit table which was romantic and great for having a conversation. Overall, we were blown away and will be returning soon.
