You must get the fish wings - Im not really a cooked fish lover (love sashimi), but the fish wings was so delicious! Especially when you wrap that up in the lettuce. Must have! The Pear Tarte Tatin was also very delicious and a good sizeable portion - so make sure you leave some room for that.
The food at Iki-Jime was exceptional, the atmosphere and ambiance is great, particularly for an intimate or romantic night.
Food and its presentation on a plate or delivery method from waiting staff was either disappointed and tasting menu 145 $ was not good value for me and my friend. I would not go back for dinner or lunch unless there is huge changes. Comparing with other 2hatted restaurants, Iki jime is not good enough. Some food was tasty though.
An intimate dinner for 4 between friends was unejoyable when the service was inconsistent and sometimes downright zero. The restaurant was not busy. We sat in the bar area and apart from a couple at the bar and another at a table next to us, it was empty The restaurant section was busier but not full. There was 4-5 wait staff but we had to wait for long periods for service. I brought this up, tactfully and politey with our waiter, thinking the service would improve it actually got worse! We were thereafter pretty much ignored. Some of the dishes like the Pink Ling Katsu was delicious but portions were generally small. The bill came to over $600. All in all not worth a second visit. There's much better service, food and portion size in Melbourne!
We all loved the way each dish was served. It was creative especially for our visitors from the UK who were pleasantly surprised by the "fish & chips"! Thank you for the experience.
Restaurant very little ambience or atmosphere, wait staff not overly attentive.
A wonderful seafood meal, with things like Barramundi and prawns done in ways I have never seen before. The pear tarte tatin was also particularly special
Food was good but not outstanding. Service fast and brusque, not warm. Tables too close. One waiter was same nationality as people on next table and chatted extensively while standing between our tables where there was not really enough room, so we were subjected to his backside touching our table for too long. Off-putting. Overall a reasonably OK night, but does not invite repeat or referral.
Had tables in bar that was quiet.
Food was fine, some dishes better than others.

The seafood was cooked perfectly. Ambience was OK, service was fairly good but neither was amazing. Overall it was a good night but allowing that this sort of money opens a lot of opportunities I would probably explore other options.
Food was amazing, I would not hesitate to recommend the menu however I would struggle to come back due to the service.
Wait Staff were completely inattentive, food was not delivered with any emotion, water was generally empty, once we managed to flag down a waiter we were ordering for the next two courses so we could have a wine with each course.
Kitchen staff however delivered desserts which was a step up and a level of theatre on plating.
Pretty good taste and texture. Would love to go again in the future!

Unfortunately this restaurant did not live up to expectations. The restaurant itself does not have a good atmosphere it’s very dark with no background music. The staff we encountered did not seem to know what they were doing. The entrees we ordered were underwhelming & tasteless so much so that we canceled our mains and left. We were very disappointed and would not recommend this place. We certainly will not be going back.
They have a very clever idea of turning various seafood into wonderful culinary dishes.
A faultless experience all round. The seafood was all super fresh, simply but inventively prepared and every dish outstanding.
Decor and overall seemed a very dark space, chef's menu had too many different flavours going on for our liking
Took husband for anniversary after visiting the previous week with work.
Although food was lovely the previous experience was a little different, I assume this was due to the restaurant being busy.
But we will return in the new year.
We were fans of the original vue de mon and thought we would give seafood de vue a go. We were greeted lovely and sat right in front of the kitchen which is where we sat when we originally went there about 8 heats ago. It was amazing to sit and watch the chefs cook prepare the planting of the food. We decided to go with the chefs choice and leave it up to them to decide what to give us. It was really nice but not the degustation we expected. The main was a whole ling fish with peppercorn sauce. Unfortunately we had to send it back as it was raw. It didn’t pull off the bone very well and very raw in the middle. Luckily it didn’t taste right for me the first bite so we sent the fish back and asked to cook it more. They did return the same fish and more cooked but by that time I was feeling very il and could still smell the rawness (probably all in my head) but I still was disheartened and putt off and couldn’t eat it. My husband ate most of it. As I come from the Italian region where fish is the most common food we eat I was very experienced to what it should look and taste like. Unfortunately this did put a dampen on the whole experience. The quality of food was nice but no comparison to the original place. This was more of a ala carte restaurant than a degustation experience.

Amazing food with impeccable service, I'd go so far as to say the best service I've had in a restaurant in Melbourne to date. The staff are unobtrusive, helpful and make you feel like a welcomed guest who's every request will be catered for. As a frequent solo diner this is a rare experience and made my evening a wonderful night out. I'd highly recommend the food as well, trust the servers recommendations and have your boundaries pushed, you'll be pleasantly surprised!
Food was superb, looked great and tasted wonderful. The flavour combinations and the freshnesh of the seafood elements made it the best dining experience we've had in a very long time.
Service amazing, not in your face but there if needed, knowledgeable and informative about the dishes. Food was beautifully presented and was delicious, served by the friendly wait staff and even the head chef got out on the floor. Able to see the kitchen clearly and watch the precision of the whole team in creating their fantastic dishes. Can't wait for the next trip to Melbourne so we can go back and do it again ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🖤

Everything about our visit to Iki-jime was STUNNING! The service was faultless and the food was beyond delicious. We had a wonderful experience and it was the perfect place to celebrate our anniversary!

Amazing staff, amazing food and an amazing experience. The Eel was the stand out dish for me and is now at the top of my list for the delicious thins I have ever eaten.
The meal was just not value for money. The food doesnt taste bad, but certainly not great or worth the price they are charging. We wont return again.

The decor was tired and knocked about. Hard edges and no atmosphere. Only a few other patrons. Looked like it was unloved.
Interesting, creative cuisine in an atmospheric space (we were in the bar - the dining room looked less interesting). Attentive service with a casual vibe. On the expensive side but worth it.

The menu was not clear about the description of the food. We ordered the prawn and fish katsu and did not expect to get a katsu sando which was quite average. Apart from that the rest of the food we ordered was ok but the customer service was great.
As usual everything was impeccable, great food, charming staff & the wine I love to drink. Can’t wait until I return. Great job Iki Jime team
Delicious food, lovely wine, and attentive staff. Didn’t think we ordered enough but we certainly did and couldn’t finish it all. Will be back again to try more!

Good service, nice place, one or two great dishes amongst some fairly ordinary stuff, in one case a dish no one could really say anything good about.... fish generally overdone. But very well presented and innovative, interesting too. Fresh produce certainly.
