Atmosphere was busy, fun and infused with the Japanese culture. Noise levels were high but is expected since it is a large restaurant with many guests. The small eggplant dish was a standout . Only dish that we didn't enjoy so much was the serve of cold mushroom with some kind of toppings on top - flavours weren't as strong/present compared to the rest of our meals.
Terrific, tasty food. Seven of us had the $75pp banquet and each course was a joy. Will have to go back to try more of the delicious-sounding menu options.
I love eating here! I bring my mum and daughter every nearly every Sunday. Great food, great service. Highly recommend!
Great restaurant, delicious food that came out quickly, friendly staff and great vibe.
Food was amazing but service was slow.
Food is delicious-we had the banquet. Great staff, love this place but music was very loud which made conversation difficult.
Ichi Ni Nana Izakaya is fabulous! It is a little on the pricey side but if you're looking for something with fabulous ambience and great food then I would highly recommend it.
Always love my visit to Ichi Ni Nana Izakaya, great good, service and experience. Love it guys
Staff was not as attentive as expected although it was a relatively quiet Monday night in the restaurant. Food was great as usual.
We came here for Mother’s Day therefore obviously busy. We enjoyed the dumplings and skewers. We ordered the pork belly too. We thought as it was busy we were waiting a while was normal but it didn’t arrive. I was too tired to order it again (I’d been at work all day). My little girl had the Oreo cheesecake which she enjoyed but the biscuit base wasn’t set so was like eating Oreo flavoured sand.
I’d like to give it a try when it’s less busy as I really liked the space and vibe. I’ve also been to the Saint kilda restaurant many times and loved it.
Beautiful food, especially the scallops and prawns.
Love the atmosphere in the glasses courtyard. Service was excellent.
The variety is there; the food, although fanciful, the quality for the price we pay for is rather sub par. Although flavourful, the seasoning is rather overpowering and does not bring out the true flavour of the food. All the food was also over cooked especially the beef skewers, pan fried swordfish and scallops.
Service was long, incredibly loud felt like I was at a bar and food quality was poor. I’ve been to Ichi Ni Nana Izakaya a few times now and this is my worst experience. I believe it’s because they’ve already franchised their restaurant & built their reputation and now that they are established, the care and quality of their food has been disregarded. I will not be coming back to this restaurant again.
Food was great as usual, we were waiting a bit for our last few items but it was a busy night. Looked like they need a bit more staff on as our waitress wasn’t really present due to being busy. The only thing I really couldn’t didn’t enjoy was the noise level. We couldn’t hear what the waitress was saying and had to shout at each other to hear. Next time we’ll go at a quieter time. Of course I’ll still go back for the delicious food. GREAT VEGAN OPTIONS!
Quality of the food was average at best. The chicken karaage was inedible. The chicken didn’t resemble Japanese fried chicken at all - it was chewy, dry and flavourless and the coating was like breadcrumbs that you would find on frozen food at a supermarket. The other dishes were a bit better.
I have never dined there on a Saturday night but was really disappointed by the service. I have been to this restaurant many times and always had the banque. Always been really happy and impressed.
We were advised they wouldn't do the banquet for us because we didnt meet the minimum 3 to qualify.
Instead my wife and I ordered a la acarte 6-7 tappas menu items from the banquet menu as well as dessert and a bottle of wine.
Two menu items were forgotton as was the bottle of wine. The menu items came out in completely the wrong order. Edamame came out towards the end of the meal - this is how bad the service was.
Not good enough considering the cost
Best food and service thank you so much for having us!! 5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The general quality if the food was not good compared to to what it costs!
Love the welcome, love the food, love the ambience.
How does this place even exist still???????? ????? ???????
This was our second visit to Ichi Ni Nana Izakaya. Unfortunately i left feeling pretty disappointed, which was a shame. I found the menu so so confusing when trying to order ourselves. We didn't want to do the banquet we just wanted to choose for ourselves and that is not an easy option to take. The menu is so busy and images don't match the items or it is not easy to tell which image goes with what dish. Because you offer so much choice i would recommend a re-vamp of the menu for sure. To be completely honest i hated the table we were given. Right in front of the serving area! No thank you! I don't need to feel like part of the staff when dining at an expensive restaurant and the light on the table was like a spotlight from a crime scene and we were actually sweating under it! Most of the dishes were nice, that's about it, and over-priced for the serving size. The sushi was really average, we get better Sushi from our local Japanese restaurant. The staff were friendly and welcoming so thank you for that. I have said 'no' to recommending your restaurant which seems harsh i know (there should be a 'maybe' option) as i probably would recommend but with a few caveats. I don't usually give feedback but just felt compelled to on this occasion. Yours sincerely Jodie Farrell
Very nice food, a lot to choose from. Helpful staff for such a large place, good for groups
Music too loud everything else great
Service and good very good. Prices are on the high end.
Really cool joint, probably just rushed through the food service a bit too quickly - during our banquet
Love the food. Everything was amazing ❤️
I had great expectations for this place, but was let down by the value. $27 for a sushi roll was outlandish and the waitress had no idea about saki or even how many serves each bottle was. Won't be going back and wouldn't recommend. Only good thing was the vibe.
I highly recommend Ichi Ni Nana- we loved the food!! The venue was beautiful however the service was shocking. We had to wait so long (Sunday night) and whilst waiting we didn’t even have any waiters/waitresses approach us to let us know what was going on. We were just ignored. The staff were pretty slow and kept forgetting what we ordered. One of the workers (not Asian- brunette) was super rude. Really snappy and had no patience. It wasn’t even busy so many empty tables so we weren’t too sure why we had to wait. But anyway, the food was amazing just a shame the service wasn’t as good as we had heard.
Amazing food, but please don’t recommend people the banquet for 4 people when we said we were starving. We asked the lady if it was a lot of food and it defiantly wasn’t worthy of $300 when we could have got a lot for more for our money. Quite poor service had to stand up to get waiters 3 times. Hate being this customer and don’t like complaining but the tables around us were trying to get the waiters attention too.
Food was unreal tho, definitely coming back and ordering 10 servings of the chicken
We had a lovely time Thank you! We first enjoyed a drink upstairs on the roof top and popped downstairs for an early dinner. Service was spot on and food was delicious. Definitely going again!
Was an amazing dining experience, definitely worth the cost. Would highly recommend and look forward to many returns
Beautiful food and good service always a great option with friends or for couples
Great food. The staff were lovely. The atmosphere was also great and I love the decor.
It got quiet noisy but it didn’t bother me as it was a Friday and it’s expected to be. The food was filling and tasted amazing. Service was pretty good too, friendly staff from reception/admin to dining experience. The highlight was definitely dessert. It was beyond expectations - myself and my friend ordered the matcha cheesecake and the chocolate dish with chocolate springrolls. We went due to the reviews on Google and TripAdvisor and it lived up to expectations for sure.
Amazing food, the kids love it! Definitely one of our favourite places
Food is amazing as always. Wonderfully consistent in quality and service. Our favourite place to find out.
The food was delicious and service was impeccable. Kurtis and the other wait staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We sat in the open area bit which was comfortable but noise levels were quite high. Would recommend booths when booking if you’d prefer an intimate conversation. Thanks!
Apart from the noise level being abit to high we couldn’t hear ourselves talking was abit annoying not being able to have a conversation without yelling to eachother but food service ect was amazing
Wonderful food...air conditioning was a bit high but they did switch it off when we asked. Great service..great food.
The ambience was good. But they were really strict on time to leave, and the deserts took a long time to be served. So we ending up hurrying at the end.
Food was delicious! Really cool restaurant loved the sashimi with the dry ice would definitely come back again
