Ichi Ni Izakaya - St Kilda
The Izakaya style restaurant is a visual feast that has combined modern dining with a traditional twist. Multi level seating, private booths and year round heated decking ensure each visit is as original as the first.
Ichi Ni accommodates a full and traditional Japanese menu that caters to all tastes – yakitori, sushi, sashimi and Japanese tapas. You won’t have difficulty finding the perfect drop to go with your “Tabemono” either… an extensive beverage menu offers sake, cocktails, fine wines and a range of Japanese beers to compliment each meal.
Wonderful night with a very lovely waiter who made my husbands birthday special
I brought my partner to Ichi Ni for his birthday, we both loved everything from the menu that we tried and the service was outstanding. Our waiter was polite and helpful the entire time and we felt very comfortable. The food was absolutely amazing as always and we already can’t wait to come back!
Staff were friendly and helpful. Food and drink were delicious. Will definitely be back.
Food was fantastic and the service was great. Definitely would go back any time!
Always reliable food wine and service. Happy to be a regular patron.
Unreal service super personal and friendly
The Scollops were to die 4
They forgot us three times, with everything we ordered we were having to call over waitstaff, which wasn’t easy as we were tucked in the corner. After making us wait 45 minutes for a sushi roll and 2 drinks we were still made to pay full price. What a joke.
Amazing place, great selection of food, friendly fast service. Loved the place!
Overall a really nice evening with friends. Service was initially a little slow but did improve once e go to our table. The food was excellent. I am not a huge fan of most Japanese restaurants that i have visited but this one was great.
Great place to go for any occasion, food was exceptional. Highly recommend.
fast service and the food was delicious!!!!!!!!!!!!
A great family dinner , food was fabulous and service very attentive.
Would definitely recommend . We went on Sunday evening a lovely way
to end the week.
The atmosphere in the restaurant was really lovely, though the serving sizes were very average for the price. The deserts were well presented.
Great food as usual and great service. Quiet night with family and friends. Always a great night.
This place is our got for special occasion and you'll never get disappointed. Great service, amazing food. It's a bit pricey but worth it
Loved the food and service.
very happy in general
Great Japanese food , I congratulate the staff in the kitchen for producing such quality food and flavours thank you
Love this place. Always have a great time and the food is always on point
I took my family to celebrate a University Graduation. The service was outstanding along with the food. Pricing was good value and the staff were very helpful with the menus and how much we needed to order. Had a great night
Experienced the best food, service and the atmosphere was just perfect
Exceptional customer service and wonderful experince - kudos to Mayka” apologies if spelt her name incorrectly
Thanks for a great evening
Staff where very friendly and for most part attentive.
Unfortunately there was a loud intoxicated group behind us that were constantly swearing. Not a very nice thing when celebrating with your mother.
That is a good casual place with good food and friendly staff.
Ichi ni is a crowd pleaser and a kid pleaser. We come along for our family celebrations and we are never disspointed. It is not super gourmet japanese, nor is it particularly good value but it is reliable and very very enjoyable food, wine and service. Very comfortable seating and lovely lighting. The service is pleasant without being overly professional.
Great Mother’s Day early dinner. Service a little slow to start as they were still cleaning up from lunch but they then realised we were waiting to order and everything was good. Food was amazing as usual and staff were very friendly and helpful. Always a special day at Ichi Ni 😁
The food a Ichi Ni Izakaya is outstanding. So fresh and tasty. We were seated in the enclosed outdoor area where it's little quieter but it was a cold night and despite the split system heaters, it was a bit cold in this space.
I had my 30th birthday here and was so impressed. The food and cocktails were amazing, along with the service. I can’t wait to return!
Honestly, I was expecting a lot more from Ichi Ni than we got. The food was extremely overpriced for the quality. The agedashi tofu was soggy drenched in way too much rich sauce, and the salmon carpaccio was extremely overpriced. $20 for 6 very thin slices of salmon, once again drenched in sauce. I understand that this is trying to be Japanese fusion, but this is overkill. I would be happy to pay the cost of these dishes is they were done well, but they are not.
When we tried to give feedback after the meal, we were given a discount and basically pushed out the door like they didn't want to hear it. When you are making that much more from the mark up on tiny dishes, then I suppose comping parts of every meal they would still be making a fortune.
Amazing food great service
Very friendly staff during our time there, the food was rightfully priced for the amount of food given and was very appetising. Would recommend to others and would love to come back again!
The food was underwhelming. I have been here before and really enjoyed it but this time the food was average and the flavours did not mix well. Given the price which was very high I can’t recommend it any more.
Incredible food!!!! Fantastic and knowledgable staff. Would HIGHLY recommend for authentic Japanese cuisine!
Great view and atmosphere. Food was just ok - scallops in cheese miso were quite cold and not to my taste at all. Edamame salad had an overpowering dressing reminiscent of supermarket bottled varieties. The best were Prawn gyoza were tasty but had quite soupy and scarce prawn fragments inside. Ichi ni rolls were filling but overwhelmed by sweet mayonnaise. Nice staff, although the waiters were confused about table numbering and 3 times brought other table’s food to us. Total cost ended up at about $50 per head for four small dishes and no alcoholic drinks, which I thought was overpriced given the quality.
Great cocktails and food! Waiters were friendly and even though the restaurant was busy, the food came out promptly.
Fabulous evening in a booth with the food coming out at just the right time.
I lost count how many times I have been to Ichi Ni. Fresh tasting, quality Japanese food. Excellent choice of dishes and wine. On a warm evening, sitting on the deck, it's the place to impress your date or take someone special. Sunsets are amazing!
Really disappointed with my experience last night. I am a regular and this time I was let down on a special occasion. The most simple thing on the menu that we ordered as a starter took more than 30 minutes to come out and we had to ask twice for it. I was never once asked if I wanted to order more food or a drink other than when we first were seated, it was frustrating as it was hard to get the attention of the waiter to order more. I appreciate it was a public holiday but the service and my experience was overall disappointing when I’m paying top dollar to dine there. Food wasn’t fresh as it usually was either.
Great good and the seating was just right
We very much enjoyed our visit
Amazing food, staff work extremely hard keeping up with all the patrons. They deserve big tips.
Waitress upsold us at every chance
Table was sticky
Chicken was cold... wasn’t meant to be
Lighting was awkward- down-light right on our heads
Surely disposable chop sticks should be banned by now for sustainability reasons .. but they also feel very cheap
Once Ichi Ni was good but has gone right off.
This is my favorite Japenese restaurant. Consistent service and really good food.
