Hwaro Korean BBQ Restaurant
Just like mother used to make
Taste is something Hwaro is particular about. Taste is what owner and chef Eunsook Kim is mostly concerned with. Her dignified and somber character, reminds many people of their own mothers.
Kim herself is essential to Hwaro. The preparations for all the meat and sauce available at Hwaro are handled by Kim alone. This includes supervision of the slicing of the Karubi (boneless short ribs), and preparation of the 23 different ingredients* needed for the hot pepper Sangyu Pusaru seasoning. Nearly all of the seasonings lined up on the tables are Kim's own creations.
A great evening. We had tried to eat there previously but because it's so popular we didn't get in. Book your table because it's worth it.
Meat is fresh and soft. However, sides are limited and need to pay for top up. Overall, food is good and worth it.
Excellent service, the staff was attentive and even cooked the meat for us. Food quality was superb. Highly recommend.
I understand you have sitting times and need to turn over tables, then you make sure offering efficient service to do that. Service was way too slow so we had to wait for long time for our drinks, charcoal and our food. Everything just took way too long to hit the table and the staff wanted to push us our cause of out by time. If your service was not that slow we wouldn’t have to rush to finish our meal and enjoy it more. Very poor form of service and not worth for what they’re changing.
Great place for delicious Korean BBQ, but don't expect to be able to order some usual dishes you find at other places such as ddeokbokki and chapchae for sides. Limited seafood options for the BBQ, bit the meats were delicious! Pricing is at the upper end so prepare to spend a bit more to get full.
Great food and service, table next to us were super loud so sort of affected the ambiance for us, but not the restaurants fault. Great quality meat and quick service
Cut of meat was nice but price tends to be a little steep. I’d say it’s not truly authentic but still a pleasant dining experience.
Fantasic place very friendly staff. Highly recommend you to eat there at least once in your life. Already planning my next visit
Lovely food and good service. Serving sizes left a bit to be desired.
Been going for 5 years and as always the food is amazing. Just in the last couple of years the staff is burning all the good of this restaurant. Asked for a drink 6 times and never got it, they never give you water, and sorry guys if I’m not a Korean food expert but probably your staff should help and guide customers to understand what they after.
Express my frustration to 3 different people and yes that’s ok sorry. Not that I was looking for a discount but I was expecting a bit more care.
It’s funny that they write on the menu “raw” be careful cause that means you can’t cook the meat! And the explanation was, see there is written raw! Ok I’m blonde and maybe stupid but guys is a charcoal bbq meat place all the bloody meat is raw!!!!!!
On a cold winter's night we were happy to be "out the back" ... as the door was open. Even with several hot coal pots going it still would not have warmed this warehouse space. The pancake starters not good. Lacked taste and substance. Spiced pork a highlight.
Amazing food - best Korean I have ever had in Australia.
Very attentive service. The ox tongue was delicious.
Great restaurant and atmosphere. Noisy and more expensive than i had anticipated, but a great night out.
Good atmosphere however this restaurant is way overpriced for the serving sizes you get.
