Hurricane's Grill Hillarys Boat Harbour Ratings and Reviews
We started with the Salt and Pepper Squid and Garlic Mushrooms. Wonderful flavours and the squid was perfectly cooked. We then ordered the mixed ribs plate and it was huge. Again cooked to perfection, the meat fell off the bones. Fabulous staff were attentive and looked after us well during the night.
Exceptional Signature Steak ! Undoubtably the best ribs serves I have ever seen my wife attempt to eat. Very tasty too
Sides were nothing to rave about. If a side salad is on the menu it would be nice for it to be somewhat up market. The fries were very "take away typical ". I would have hoped for somewhat better in this area.
The Red wine we had was very good , certainly up there with the more expensive restaurant bottles in my experience , equivalent restaurants start at about $35 upwards.
If you like your meat then Hurricane Bar and Grill is perfect. Speciality ribs and steaks are highly recommended. The staff are very welcoming and friendly and on hand to assist in making your visit a positive experience. Situated at Hilary's boat harbour overlooking the marina beach it is ideal evening spot. A place you can keep going back to.
The fish and chips meal has too much batter on it and little fish. It is oily. They salad does not come with any dressing. The steak as dry and little sauce on it. Additional charge for mushroom sauce. I feel the management and staff should review their food and comment on it.
The food was great. The service could be better from the staff. The manager was great and sat us down promptly. The waitress brought us menus. No one came to us for ages to take a drinks order. The cocktail ordered was missing ingredients mentioned in menu.
This is the second time my husband and I have been to hurricanes grill. Our first experience was superb and sure enough our second experience was just as great. The amount of food you get for the small price is fantastic value. The staff are friendly and best of all, the food is delicious. We took my parents with us for their anniversary and they both loved it too. Can't wait for our next visit :)
Good was excellent, service good, but tables are squashed together to fit as many as possible in, leaving it difficult for wait staff to even get to you, and while serving the table next to us she bumped a glass over on our table. Not very private as it feels like you are having a meal with the guests at the neighbouring table.
We went for my partners birthday & were very excited to see what Hurricanes had to offer. The Waitresses couldn't carry 3 plates properly and they were pushing the plates into their torso for balance & looked very unappealing. I work in hospitality and I know it can be hard but I think they should of just carried what they could & looked more professional. I ordered the steak & it wasnt presentable at all, for 30 - something dollars it was very cheap looking which was disappointing. My partner had the burger which looked amazing! I also got food poising from my food & being pregnant I had to take the next day off work I was so ill all night. So disappointed as the staff were lovely but inexperienced & the price you pay for meals is extremely high for the presentation you receive. The local pub I work at is cheaper for food and the quality & presentation is much much higher. Very disappointed, I will not be recommending or coming again due to my experience! Thank you for the hospitality though.
I was gifted a pre-paid scoopon voucher for a 4 course dinner & a wine or beer per person. This limited us to a set menu with very little variety & we were flagged down as we were leaving the venue & asked to pay $7 for a bottle of sparkling water, despite having both skipped an entire (pre-paid) course on the menu. I'm sure a visit to the restaurant when paying for full ala carte is worthwhile as the food and service are quite good but the scoopon deal was limiting and disappointing.
My wife & I had a delicious meal, ordered the rib medley to share with salad. Sat at table for two... a bit too squashed to have drinks large platter and salad on table...had to leave off bowl for bones. Cost $99 for 3 types of ribs....little too expensive, but food and atmosphere was tasty & fabulous.
Food was goodn as always but we ordered the skewer but out table didn't have a skewer holder and the first waitress just left the food with us and didn't arrange a holder. I have to get another watress then to arrange a holder which wasn't really suitable as the sauce and skewer fell over on my wife.
Service was a little slow to start with, but got better as the evening went on. The restaurant lacks any identity, i.e it is supposed to be a South African themed restaurant, but there is nothing to suggest this with the decor, also it is not a venue for an intimate meal as the tables are packed in so tight you feel like you need to introduce yourself to your neighbours.
We came here on a Saturday night, and were seated at our booked time asap of 7.30pm. We then ordered about 10 minutes later, but to our disappointment, we ended up waiting nearly an hour and 30 minutes just for 1 share plate. There was no heads up on the expected wait time, if so, we definitely wouldn't have ordered our meals and waited past 9pm! Waitresses were friendly, however manager/senior seemed selective with the customers he would serve, ignoring us until we were done with our food.
The service was friendly. Efficient and fast . The sweet potato chips were drool worthy and the ribs yummy. Cooked on the spot garlic bread was a little too garlicky but still edible. The restaurant can be relied on to provide food of an excellent standard.
Definitely not child high chair friendly, far too dark inside, service slow, your manager was very rude upon arrival when seated at table, perhaps you should look into hiring people friendly person!! which was awful in the dark right next to the kitchen door with a high chair that blocks the pathway, imagine if a plate of hot ribs came out the kitchen and one tripped over a high chair, wouldn't be a very good outcome!!
Quality of food nothing special, lack of presentation, bones on a plate!! hippo creek was way better, never coming to your restaurant again, disappointed!!
