The service we received was outstanding and our waitress made sure our needs were met. The food was to a high quality and if I ever return to Australia I will be coming to Hurricanes.
The host that sat us was very rude. The restaurant is very cramped. Our server was amazing and brought us our dessert with a happy anniversary message written on the plate. The food came so fast it was almost as if they have plates of food warming and just bringing them out as needed
Music was too loud, Beef ribs were as tough as leather, slow service and way over priced for what we received. $270, 4 adults 1 child people, 4 mains and around of drinks (could have eaten at a hatted restaurant for a little more)
We arrived at the restaurant just before the time of our booking and were sat at the bar to wait for our table, this is a little frustrating as we booked a specific time and would expect a table to be ready. The wait was thankfully only about 10mins and we were then sat outside with a lovely scenic view of darling harbour and the Vivid festival.
My partner and I both ordered ribs, half rack for her and full for myself. The ribs were excellent, very juicy and tasty and dessert was equally delicious. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
The food was really good just a little disappointed with the lamb ribs. We have two serves and they were very fatty. All other meals were great.
Glad we booked! We were seated within minutes of our booking. Staff were friendly and efficient. Food was excellent and consistent with same meals at other hurricanes restaurants.
We went for a special family dinner during the Vivid festival only to be terribly disappointed. Our large drinks we ordered were full of ice and we couldn’t even taste the drink. Got one replaced and they forgot to bring back the other one. They were so busy it was ridiculous! We ordered the bbq meat platter which was either burnt or raw with no other flavour, then drowned in a disgusting bbq sauce. Our chips were under the meat so they were soggy and drenched in sauce also. We didn’t reorder or send back, just ate what we could manage and left the rest. We went back to our hotel room and got something better for much less price. $140 wasted. Will not be going back or recommending to anyone.
Service great.Food great as always. Salt and pepper calamari was tasty but very small for the price.
My steak was terribly over cooked when asked for medium rare
We had a ask three or four time for our garlic bread
We were rushed out at the end when I hadn’t even finished my drink
Wouldn’t recommend at all. Dirty plates and cutlery. Ribs came out 2 minutes after we ordered and before our drinks. What the??. Service was disorganised. Asking for clean cutlery from 3 people and no one could be bothered finding clean anything. They finally brought some over half way through our meal. Really!
Deceiving advertising a full rack of ribs and only 6 ribs arrive for beef only to be told it’s based on weight per kg.....then it’s not a full rack of ribs!!!! Also, ordered 2 beers and both flat - a little bit of a mood kill
Luckily we made a booking. It was quite easy on line. They gave us window seats with beautiful view especially the VIVID is on. Food is very good both on quality and quantity. The price is very reasonable for the place and food. Surely will go again.
Hurricanes is always a great place to eat
The host was very abrupt and not very friendly or helpful, as she showed us our table I wanted to ask her where the bathroom was but she walked away straight away without saying anything to us which I found rude and made a very bad first impression. The starter was disappointing, it was very small even though the menu said ‘start and share’, I feel it was the waitress’ responsibility to let us know that we may have needed more to share between two of us. The mains arrived as we were just finishing the starter, far too quickly! My boyfriend’s steak was not cooked how he asked for it to be cooked, and the chips are not worth the prices on the menu! Overall a very disappointing experience.
great value for money. Al meals are huge servings. Good fast service and the most meat ive seen on ribs ever.
Tasty food, value for money and super fast service.
My boyfriend and I LOVE going to Hurricanes...especially the Darling Harbour restaurant. We make the extra effort because we enjoy the food so much! The service is great and the staff are friendly. Every special occasion is spent at Hurricanes. The food is always spot on and so incredibly delicious. My boyfriend and I love the salt and pepper but unfortunately, we won't be adding it to our meal next time and the portion size was extremely dissapointing. $18 for 5 pieces of small squid is very dissapointing and not good value for money. It's our favourite but we might have to skip out on it most times. Other than that, we will continue to reserve seats and enjoy a good meal where we are always left satisfied and happy!
Very nice view place to lunch but dont have a chili sauce
My boyfriends birthday. The food was delicious!!!
I was looking forward to a meal here as I'd been recommended the ribs but I've had much better elsewhere and they arrived only just warm so they got cold quick and were a bit dry. My partner had a steak which he said was good but small.
The calamari starter was cooked perfectly and my boyfriend loved his full rack of pork ribs.
Absolutely amazing food, with a great location. The ribs are to die for, the steaks are high quality and perfectly prepared. The cocktails are a great way to enhance your dining experience. The hurricane sunrise was awesome. If you have room for dessert the waffles are a great choice. The staff were all excellent. They didn't hover but were there when you wanted something. Would definitely recommend.
Its a bit crowded and noisy , but good food with good service and scenery.
After just one hour we were being asked to leave so we could free up the table maybe spending $200 isn’t enough of a customer at darling harbour.
We eat at Brighton-Le-Sands hurricane at least once a month and have never been asked such a question that made my whole family uncomfortable, needless to say we didn’t enjoy a family chat after our meal we paid and we left so the next customer could be seated. Just over a hour from entry to departure.
Food was excellent, service from wait staff was terrible, we had one round of drinks and never got asked again if we wanted anymore, and as were almost finished our food wait staff just took our stuff without asking if we had finished with things as we were sitting talking, also were never asked if we wanted to see desert menu, so we left and got desert and more drinks somewhere else.
The 3 of us shared these. We had the signature steak, half a rack of ribs, a pasta dish, a salad and 3 beers. The portions were generous and the flavours were amazing.
It was a very relaxed and informal setting. Would highly recommend dining here.
too dark , not good seating position , no one give a surprise cake even know we have a birthday party , not like in hard rock cafe
Service on that day was not pleasant. Staffs were not friendly at all.
Food and service was great. We were sat next to the wall and my seat was right at the kitchen entrance door frame so foot traffic was uncomfortable and at times made me uneasy as I was wearing a white shirt and could feel people brushing past me as they were going in and out of the kitchen. It was at times hard to have a conversation because the kitchen staff was so loud and the constant ringing of the service bell.
Staff pleasant and attentive. The food was enjoyable and delivered in a timely manner.
It's a great spot if you have visitors in town. It has a great view of darling habour and the city. However service for me was poor and I did not experience the warmth of Australian hospitality. The food was average overall and pretty pricey. I go to hurricanes because it is iconic and an easy choice when we have people visiting.
Firstly Host was rude when I asked "could you show me where my table was " she responded with "go find it yourself ". Secondly, food to arrive was quick despite a full house. We usually order the pork ribs but this time round was served cold and not enough sauce on the ribs which I felt the meat was dry. Usually a great restaurant to go to but after my last experience, I rather spend my money else where
Really good food and matching service, they are organised. It was a great experience and the kids loved it. We will be back next time we are in Sydney.
On Tuesday 24 April, we went to Hurricanes Darling Harbour for a different scenery for my 82 year old grandmother, which we had a 7pm booking for. My grandmother suffers from early stages of dementia, and for anyone who knows anything about dementia would know how quick their moods can change. Firstly my grandmother wanted some pepper for her meal, we tried to get the attention from waiters numerous times and failed, so my mum got up and asked a waitress (asian decent) for some pepper, she responded by telling my mum that every table comes with salt and pepper. We only had salt...we were asking because we did not have pepper....The waitress walked away and did not return. My mother then approached a waiter (orangish hair with a beard) and he did not seem to care for my mothers request, he walked off and never returned with any pepper. I ended up having to pinch pepper from another persons table to satisfy my annoyed and angry grandmother, who by that point was off her food, and decided that she hated her meal and that it tasted horrible. This was an awful experience for my mother and I as we wanted to enjoy the last few birthdays we will be able to enjoy with my grandmother, however this was affected by the poor service of your staff. This moment will not be regained and its very upsetting. We have been going to Hurricanes for years as a family, more frequesntly Brighton and Bondi Beach, but thought we would try something new. My grandmother has always been a big fan of Hurricanes and has never before complained of a bad meal, it was the experience that put her off and it's all we've heard for the past few days now. Unfortunately this has not only affected my grandmother, but both my mother and I as a dis pleasant birthday memory for my grandmother. We will not be back to Darling Harbour Hurricanes again and I would appreciate if I could have confirmation that this review has been recognized.
The food was nice but the service is terrible.
I had a booking at 7pm and came at 7 but the girl at the reception was very rude and didnt want to let us in, she was not even looking at us when she talked to us and keep telling us to wait because there was no table. What’s the point of booking when there’s no table reserved for you? If there was no table and she wanted us to wait then she could have talked to us politely, not in a way that makes us feel like she wanted us to leave.
When we finally got our table, we can see that there are lots of empty table inside, not like what they told us.
Terrible service and poor management for that price of food! Never coming back again or recommend to anyone!
Awesome place, would highly recommend to everyone, service was friendly, fast and helpful
As always great food and fast friendly service. My issue with this place is the toilets are horrible. It is a big restaurant and they only have 2 unisex toilets for the whole place. This is disgusting, they are busy, unclean and women and men generally don’t like to share a bathroom, it’s just human nature. More toilets and separate please!!
I took my daughter there for her birthday. We ordered starters, main meal and drinks. The service was a bit weird as we had just started our starters when our main meal arrived!! The ribs were good.
I had a great time celebrating my birthday with my special someone at Hurricane's Grill - Darling Harbour. We were seated at a quiet corner with a view of the stunning harbour and city skyline. I would have loved more lighting though, as the photos turned-out be slightly dark. The food tastes great, and Veronica, our server, was very friendly and efficient. I would definitely come back!
