Food was great. Service was great!
Always a delight
While the ambience was superb (we sat on the rooftop deck with a view of the Hudson River), the food was inedible. Too much salt on everything. Poached eggs had runny whites (they should be firm). Wait staff claimed that they never had the problem before.
Went there to celebrate a friend’s birthday. We all loved it! The food, location, service, etc. were outstanding! Our only complaint was the loud music playing in the background. Although they did lower it, the room was too small to allow for loud music; maybe some soft jazz or classical music would have been preferable.
We came in before our reservation time to get a drink. We ordered one through the hostess and then moved further down the bar to get the bartenders attention so we could order one more round. We finished our drinks and then were taken upstairs to sit outside. We noticed there were only two other tables up there seated/one downstairs still left so it was pretty quiet. Upon sitting down, our server got us menus and asked right away if we were ready to order to which we said we’d need just one minute. Once he left, we didn’t see him again... we waited a good fifteen minutes for our server to come back. We noticed he was serving drinks to the other two tables but never came back to us. At one point, I asked the bus boy walking by if we could place our dinner order with him and he said no and that he would get our server... the server never came (we waited another 5 minutes). We then left our table and went to the bar to settle our tab from earlier and left. The bartender was an owner and was super apologetic about things and felt really bad. After that sort of service on such a slow night, we will never go back.
Service was unreasonably slow as was the kitchen. The food was marginal and not inexpensive. The view was great and the ambiance was good.
Great food, very nice owners. We had dinner here the night of the Kentucky Derby and it was very busy in the bar, as would be expected. We sat in the bar at the back of the restaurant to watch the race and then went down to the front to eat. We had a nice view of the river in the distance from the front window. The food was excellent. We were a party of 6, and everyone was very happy with their meal. It took awhile for the food to come due to the crowd, but the owners came to check on us multiple times, and even gave us each an after dinner drink on the house to apologize for the wait. We were enjoying ourselves so much, it didn't bother us to wait anyway. We will definitely come back again, probably when the weather is warmer to sit outside on the roof deck.
The ownership welcomed us, and gave us a free drink since our table was not ready on time. The view was just what we wanted. The price was in our range and the service was quick. Other staff were also friendly. We will be back.
First time at Hudson Anchor. Everything was perfect! Great find in Sleepy Hollow!
Service was excellent but we were the only ones in there (at 12:30p on a Sunday) for brunch. It was completely empty. Drinks were ok but food was not good (uncooked slimy eggs in Benedict with low quality crab cakes which were inedible; French toast was uncooked; cornbread was good though). Would not go in there again.
Birthday celebration for a dear friend who loves fish. This was a culinary delight! Food was outstanding from the salmon, tuna and grilled shrimp to the dessert. Nice wine section but fanatic service! Plenty of free street parking. We had a wonderful time.
Food was fantastic but they had a huge party and the people at the bar area were crowding around our table as we ate dinner. It was very uncomfortable and very loud. The owner called the day before to let us know abt the party, but unfortunately, the message did not record.
Very good, quiet, and the best Turkey tortilla soup I've ever tasted!
This restaurant does not deserve the one star I was forced to give. We were two couples; each of us had to send our entrees back...way too salty, smelly fish. Very unpleasant experience to say the least. Don’t waste your time and money.
The food was very good and the service was great!
The serving staff was very attentive and friendly. I would go again.
First time visit. Pleasantly surprised. Attentive service, good food and quite atmosphere in the upstairs area. I’m sure it will be even nicer in the better weather on the terrace. Will plan on revisiting!
Quit place, decent sevive, good food!
We will come back to try more.
Nice, comfortable place to have a meal or a drink. Bartender was very attentive on a slow night.
My salmon was delicious, but portion was very small. My companion’s salad was also very small.
We ordered (and paid for) entrees, but the dishes appeared to be a little bigger than appetizer size.
The food was very good. The service was excellent. We had a reservation for two, but arrived as three. We were still treated like special guests. Specific food needs were gladly accommodated. Any questions about the menu or prices were quickly answered. We were made to feel welcome from beginning to end.
My sister and I made a last minute reservation for Thanksgiving. Great ambiance with the festive decorations and melodious music. Food was delicious and service was great and attentive. Would definitely go back & recommend to anyone looking for a cozy, casual place for great food and service.
I bypassed many restaurants this Restaurant Week and came to this quaint restaurant and left with a smile and full belly. I will definitely be back!
Great lunch during restaurant week. Food was excellent and waiter/manager was friendly and attentive. Would like to go back for dinner to see it with more of a crowd
Food was good. Everything seemed fresh and well prepared.
The restaurant was very nice and held our reservation even though we were stuck in bad traffic and our Uber driver got lost. Our waitress was wonderful and apologized profusely when the limited menu was out of many of their selections. We just don't feel it's worth it to look forward to a nice dinner and be forced to chose something you really don't want and know it's too late to find another restaurant at that hour.
The wine list was longer than the menu. What we ordered were fine but I wasn't sure that's exactly what I wanted. The live music was a great touch and Emily was wonderful.
First time to this restaurant. Went with three friends, mainly for the view, and based on the online menu we thought it would be a nice Sat. brunch place. One person ordered an omelet, two ordered the burger, and after extensive questioning regarding ingredients & preparation (I have a number of food restrictions), I ordered the crab cake sandwich. Before ordering I confirmed w/the server that it did NOT have peppers in it, was not deep fried, and came w/slaw. When the food arrived I was dismayed to discover that in fact there were jalapeño peppers in the crab cake, and it came w/fries (which I cannot eat). Everyone else's orders were fine. I sent my food back and ordered a burger instead, w/a side of mixed greens instead of fries. The omelet was reported to be delicious; the burgers, made w/short ribs meat and ground beef, were also delicious, and cooked to specified doneness. Unfortunately, by the time my burger arrived my companions were pretty much done w/their food. As a way of apologizing for the "mix up," the manager sent us out two creme brûlée desserts (one chocolate, one regular), which was absolutely the right thing to do when the kitchen messes up like that. The desserts were okay, but nothing fabulous.
The view of the river from the roof top, where we sat, was really nice, in spite of the construction site below us. The server was attentive and polite, and the manager was pleasant, and apologetic! I would definitely go back again, and give this place another try, especially since it's a moderately priced restaurant - with a view, which is hard to find in this area!
We decided to try Hudson Anchor Seafood and Grill. We went early evening and were seated on the main floor. There is a bar up some stairs. It is a small, attractive restaurant. There is a regular menu and a three course prix fixe. We opted for the prix fixe. I had the mussels with chorizo appetizer. Most of the mussels were not open and the broth was overly fishy. The chorizo was ground and mixed in the broth. It wasn't really edible. The shrimp soup seemed to be made of the same broth as the mussels and was also too stinky fishy. The branzino was good but the orzo had olives in it which was not listed as an ingredient on the menu. This doesn't go over well for olive haters. The desserts were fine. Overall, I don't think that we will be back. Sorry.
Good food, service, and nice atmosphere. We plan to return.
Great food and excellent service. Beautiful sunset view. Prix Fixe menu offered excellent value. We’ll be back!
The worst dinning experience I have ever encountered. I invited a group of seven out for my wife's birthday. Here's where it all went wrong.
We ordered drinks and appetizers 2 hours later still no food! Heard other dinners complaining about the service. Here's where it gets even worse after 2 hours we were now told they ran out of shrimp 1 half hour after that the server informed us they ran out of lobster.
I politely asked for a check and left.
The outdoor deck upstairs was lovely. The food was good, although the kitchen was slow the evening we were there. Service was good.
I had my first date with what now is my fiance 2 years later, so we've been back on our anniversary. It used to be River Grill now Hudson Anchor Seafood and Grill. While our drinks and calamari was good, our seafood risotto was not. The seafood in the risotto was actually good but the rice was not made well. It had the consistency of rice that was over cooked in the pot with too much water. It came out starchy and sticky as opposed to saucy/buttery the way risotto usually is. Everyone else's meal looked good so I would hope it was only the risotto rice that was not done right.
The service was friendly but I think the wait staff might have been a little in the weeds. Pleasant enough though.
It took us more than 90 minutes to receive our entrees --and we didn't see our waitress for at least one hour. A large table nearby (10 people) walked out after waiting forever for their meals. We won't ever be going back. It was embarrassing to us since we invited old friends we hadn't spent time with for a while.
we had a wonderful meal of a huge crab cake - best ever- (me) and perfectly cooked red snapper (my husband.) Apparently they have a new chef and I wish we could eat there weekly- sadly, we are from out of town.
Try them- very reasonable prices.
Food was delicious, but we waited over an hour between the appetizer and entree.
Service slow food served cold then after sent back returned in a bowl sauce destroyed and watery
Looked like dog food. Kept saying kitchen was very busy only 10 tables occupied!
Had to pick up a sandwich after keaving
The food is freshly and excellently prepared. The flavors are delectable and originally crafted.
The service is amazing. Everyone is extremely attentive and details matter. I would recommend the restaurant for an incredible culinary experience.
Great experience. Ate on the second floor . Still had a view of the river from inside. The waitstaff was very attentive and able to answer any menu related questions. Our dinners were fabulous. We were able to enjoy our coffee out on the roof deck.
Worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant!!!!! I made reservations here on open table for my mother for Mother’s Day!! We had reservations at 2 pm for 5 people we were seated immediately and our waiter was wonderful. My mother was asked did she like champagne she said yes she was never given any. We ordered drinks which took forever then we ordered appetizers entrees and dessert at one time. We did not receive our appetizers until 3 pm. It was simply shrimp cocktail, lobster bisque, and a Caesar salad. Our entrees which were also very simple did not arrive until 4 pm. Dessert then took another 45 minutes!!! I wish i was joking...Our waitress was lovely but honestly at this point it didn’t matter.. the food was mediocre at the best and my creme brûlée was disgusting!!! This bill was about $300 and they took a mere 10 percent off. This was by far the worst experience I’ve had at a restaurant and it’s very unfortunate that it occurred on Mother’s Day!!! I will not be recommending this restaurant to anyone. Wish we had been able to reserve at half moon instead !!! Lesson learned never again!
