About Hogget Kitchen
Hogget is the name given to a lamb between weaning and first shearing. It is the time when the meat is at its most tender and flavoursome.
Our menu has been designed to work with ingredients that are sourced locally at the peak of their season. Our kitchen prepares each element from scratch, using techniques that have been around for generations. Techniques that ensure you will see and taste each ingredient and remember your meal, long after you leave the table. Our menu is designed to be shared with family and friends as we believe in the importance of connections over food.

Hogget Kitchen Ratings and Reviews
Great restaurant - if I had one small recommendation I ordered a steak medium well and it came out fully well done but still tasted fine - since it was 'a first world problem' I was not about to let the great steak go to waste so if I go back again I'd prob order a medium. But everything else was fantastic.
We chose “Let Trevor cook for you” and every dish was delicious, and plenty for all four guests. the pork crackling was perfect. The dessert was fresh fruit salad, and we ordered the lemon tart as an extra because we had enjoyed it so much on a previous visit.
Overall, it was a lovely dining experience, the menu was imaginative and catered to individual dining preferences. The wine list promoted a local winery but I found that the price per glass/bottle was more expensive than I expected. We had a Sunday lunch where a fixed price menu offered a two or three course option - the main serving sizes ( on the small side) could have been supplemented with a side of veggies.
Loved our meal here! With a heap of allergies I eat out rarely but these guys are so friendly and accommodating with dietary requirements, customising my meal like it was no trouble or bother at all, producing the most delightful spring on the plate salad to go with my beautiful trout. Delicious clean wholesome flavoursome fresh food, top notch service and a gorgeous setting. This wasn’t our first visit and certainly won’t be our last.
My partner and I decided to try this lovely picturesque venue after reading about it via some local articles.
After a short, although scenic, drive out of warragul, we drove down a quaint driveway to where Hogget lay.
We requested that Trev (head chef) cook for us and were superbly impressed with the variety and expertise portrayed in the dining experience.
I would recommend to any person, let Trev cook for them and wander on the journey through taste.
Paired with locally sourced Howler Cider and some German wheat beer, the meal was excellent.
Will be returning another time to let Trev walk me through another journey.
Really interesting lunch menu with a mix of traditional and creative dishes. The sweet cauliflower and rocket side dish was particularly memorable. We couldn't go past the jersey ice cream with the chocolate just oozing out of fondant lava cake. We will come again :)
Food was great - except for our vegetarian guest who found the menu limiting.
Surprising to have a selection of sparkling wines on the wine list, yet no champagne flutes to drink from. Having a blanc-de-blanc from a cab-sav red wine glass was a novelty I could have done without.
We (2 couples) visited Hogget's kitchen for lunch during a weekend getaway from Melbourne. What an amazing lunch! I am not a big lover of red meat but the rib eye was the best I have ever had, and everyone around the table agreed that this was just amazing quality and brilliantly cooked. We had a few side dishes as well, and a couple of desserts and everything was excellent. Wines were really good as well and the staff was very generous in letting us taste a couple of wines before choosing one. Such a great experience, will definitely be back!
We went to Hoggett Kitchen for lunch on Father's Day this year. We had never been here before and we were very impressed. The food was top quality and very generous servings. We love that all the ingredients are locally sourced and everything is homemade. We will definitely be back!
We have visited Hoggett three times now over the last two months. For those in the region the dining experience is excellent. The care and attention to detail in regard to local produce that is served is a feature .The staff service is attentive and good. The floor manager on the two occassions I have been to the Kitchen is warm ,friendly and looks are your needs to a very professional way. This restaurant is a welcome addition to a beautiful country region well worth visiting.
We had Trev's recommendations for dinner and the food was amazing. The lamb was so tender and delicious. The soup was artichoke soup, a dish I wouldn't have previously ordered, and I was so thankful that I did because it was thick and full of flavour.
Well Done Trevor & Stephen and team.
