Beautiful surrounds for a delicious leisurely lunch. Have an overseas visitor from USA and she wanted to go fine dining. Did not disappoint. Had heard some average reviews but thought we are going to try ourselves. Very happy we did
Great setting, phenomenal wine list, good sized meals made from only local produce.
I have had two previous enjoyable lunches at this beautiful restaurant about twelve months ago but it was disappointing on this return visit for dinner for four.
Having the patrons clustered around the dance floor - with the large dining area empty next door didn't help the ambiance.
However, the most disappointing thing was the limited menu. We ordered two serves of the the prosciutto for entree - as it was the only thing that tempted us. It was delicious but could have been served with a more generous serve of ciabatta.
Unfortunately nothing of the five things on the 'mains' list tempted three of us so we went with the gnocchi and lamb shank ragu. We were very disappointed in this - so bland and very little ragu!
I would have had the beef but could only order 600gms! a huge amount to eat alone - and difficult when you can't persuade the rest of the party to share it.
The fourth member of our party had the smoked lamb neck - which didn't sound appetising but was the best meal of the night. We looked longingly over at it.
Wouldn't rush to return unless the menu has changed.
Great food. We let Trev cook for us 5 courses. Trev is one great chef. Very enjoyable. The staff were warm, friendly, nothing too much trouble. The staff at Hoggetts kitchen could teach a lot of other restaurants the way to look after their guests. We were very impressed and will return. Thank you for a lovely afternoon.
Hoggets never disappoints. The staff are polite and professional.
The meals are amazing, food is locally sourced and cooked to perfection. I cannot fault anything about this restaurant and feel privileged to be able to dine here
Thankyou for a wonderful evening. We loved celebrating our wedding anniversary here
Took my newly engaged Fiance for a celebratory lunch, whilst the venue was almost empty with only one other table (Wednesday Lunch) that was to be expected given the time and day.
Food was fast as no demand and service was as you would expect, whilst I was informed that my steak was thought to be over-cooked (which it was) I was offered a new replacement by the waitress. I didn't take the offer as I am not that precious!
With the overall experience we were satisfied and this did double as a look at a wedding venue.
Would recommend for a nice meal, well cooked but a little more costly than a normal lunch meal.
Well prepared food targeted at a country audience with attention to local fresh produce. The charcuterie plate offered a good sampling of what was on offer.
This was our second experience of dining at Hogget. On the first occasion, we really enjoyed the experience - food, wine, staff, venue. On the second occasion it was almost the opposite reaction unfortunately. Perhaps just a bad night hopefully?
Has to be our favourite restaurant in West Gippsland. Fabulous dining. Just love coming here.
Absolutely loved our dining experience at Hogget Kitchen. We opted for 'Trev to cook for us' so had no idea what we were going to get. We were so happy with our choice as all of the 5 courses were so so yum! Great service and great food. Will definitely go there again.
We thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Unfortunately the acoustics made it difficult for me to hear my partner directly across the table.
Amazing food & Amazing service !
My favourite restaurant
We were here for a Valentine's dinner and loved the food and wine. Only downside was there didn't seem to be enough waitstaff for the number of tables so we ended up having to spend a fair bit of time trying to catch someone's attention just to ask for the wine list.
Excellent set menu for Valentine's Day dinnerdate. Simple food splendidly done and great service.
I attended Hogget Kitchen and pre-arranged for the "Let Trev Cook for you Option."
We had five courses, some to share. The food was delicious, a range of different meats were presented to us and the dessert was fresh and delightful.
The staff were friendly and courteous and were prompt to serve us. A bit more of an explanation on what the food is along with where the ingredients were sourced would have been apprecieted and would add to the experience.
The staff sat us facing the window to the winery, the view could not be faulted, it was stunning and really made the atmosphere of the restaurant.
Splendid views & wonderful ambience, a great place to enjoy a Sunday wine overlooking the vineyard or for an intimate evening diner.
Seasonal & local produce, Gippslands finest!
Very nice food, good service and the local wine was excellent. Bit pricey but worth it.
Had the steaks this time they were excellent probably the best ever had sauce was delicious
Great restaurant - if I had one small recommendation I ordered a steak medium well and it came out fully well done but still tasted fine - since it was 'a first world problem' I was not about to let the great steak go to waste so if I go back again I'd prob order a medium. But everything else was fantastic.
Food always good, not a great spot for vegetarians though. I enjoy this restaurant but don't like the display of meat when sitting facing it. Tables could be positioned to allow more guests to enjoy the view
The experience at Hoggetts Kitchen is always pleasant and delicious. Not cheap though.
For the restaurant to be almost empty the Saturday before Christmas should be worrying to the owner. Time for a rethink?
We love the fabulous fresh local produce that shines through Trevor's subtle and thoughtful dishes. An interesting wine list. Cannot go past the Houston champagne. Sublime.
Really good food. I had the steak which was very good but served with just chips. Some greens would have made it excellent. Could have ordered a side of greens but this makes it a pricey $48 steak meal.
Delicious meal, lovely outlook, definitely one of the best in the area
We really loved the Angus ribeye and the Jersey ice cream. A pleasant way of spending an evening.
I would be happy to have my dinner at Hoggart every night ! Taste was fantastic ,meat cooked to tender delight & plenty on the plate.
Wine selection very good and service friendly and into food AND growing it.
We chose “Let Trevor cook for you” and every dish was delicious, and plenty for all four guests. the pork crackling was perfect. The dessert was fresh fruit salad, and we ordered the lemon tart as an extra because we had enjoyed it so much on a previous visit.
Overall, it was a lovely dining experience, the menu was imaginative and catered to individual dining preferences. The wine list promoted a local winery but I found that the price per glass/bottle was more expensive than I expected. We had a Sunday lunch where a fixed price menu offered a two or three course option - the main serving sizes ( on the small side) could have been supplemented with a side of veggies.
Excellent service, meals were beautiful. We went with the chefs choices and there was so much we couldn’t eat it all. I think we got to try everything on the menu. Exceptionally good value considering how much we got.
You won't regret the "Let Trev cook for you" option. The wait staff were lovely and very attentive. We will be back!
The menu is true to the values of the chef and his vision, which showcases exceptional charcuterie samples, cooked meat cuts and local produce.
The staff were exceptional. Definitely on our list of restaurants to return to.
Excellent food. Lovely place. Glorious wine.
Trevor and the team are personable kind and knowledgeable.
Loved our meal here! With a heap of allergies I eat out rarely but these guys are so friendly and accommodating with dietary requirements, customising my meal like it was no trouble or bother at all, producing the most delightful spring on the plate salad to go with my beautiful trout. Delicious clean wholesome flavoursome fresh food, top notch service and a gorgeous setting. This wasn’t our first visit and certainly won’t be our last.
Delicious seasonal food. Trevor allows the quality local ingredients speak for themselves. The view is lovely.
My partner and I decided to try this lovely picturesque venue after reading about it via some local articles.
After a short, although scenic, drive out of warragul, we drove down a quaint driveway to where Hogget lay.
We requested that Trev (head chef) cook for us and were superbly impressed with the variety and expertise portrayed in the dining experience.
I would recommend to any person, let Trev cook for them and wander on the journey through taste.
Paired with locally sourced Howler Cider and some German wheat beer, the meal was excellent.
Will be returning another time to let Trev walk me through another journey.
Ordinary menu, nothing noteworthy. Rather disappointing as regurlar Warragul CBD cafes offer more variety.
Really interesting lunch menu with a mix of traditional and creative dishes. The sweet cauliflower and rocket side dish was particularly memorable. We couldn't go past the jersey ice cream with the chocolate just oozing out of fondant lava cake. We will come again :)
Food was great - except for our vegetarian guest who found the menu limiting.
Surprising to have a selection of sparkling wines on the wine list, yet no champagne flutes to drink from. Having a blanc-de-blanc from a cab-sav red wine glass was a novelty I could have done without.
We (2 couples) visited Hogget's kitchen for lunch during a weekend getaway from Melbourne. What an amazing lunch! I am not a big lover of red meat but the rib eye was the best I have ever had, and everyone around the table agreed that this was just amazing quality and brilliantly cooked. We had a few side dishes as well, and a couple of desserts and everything was excellent. Wines were really good as well and the staff was very generous in letting us taste a couple of wines before choosing one. Such a great experience, will definitely be back!
