I wouldn't recommend Higher Ground for group bookings because they won't split bills - they'd rather waste their customers time than allocate staff.

Also wouldn't recommend Higher Ground for anyone with mobility problems as they are unwilling to accommodate basic requests like buttering toast for a customer who has an arm in a sling.

Staff too quick to use the excuse as its policy and really give the impression they couldn't care less.

But the venue is amazing (although cold inside if its cold outside), food is great.

The black toilet tissue tray/box in the Unisex Disabled Toilet should be replaced to somewhere else. It’s kinda weird to drill the box there, especially when someone got bad etiquette?

Love Higher Ground, never disappoints everytime we are in Melbourne. Even though it has changed hands the quality of food and service is exceptional.

Amazing food and lovely team but one of our drinks was forgotten and had to ask 3 times for it and one of our meals was given to another table. Team were very honest and apologetic. One of our party had an egg allergy and given the quality and size of the venue, we thought when it came time to looking at the dessert menu, they would be accommodating and at least suggest some fruit or something that could be tailored but it was a flat out "no" to any options for dessert for him so our whole party went to have dessert and more cocktails somewhere else. A shame as its a fantastic venue.

Recent I went to dinner at Higher Ground in Little Bourke Street Melbourne. I made a reservation for one and on arrival was greeted by friendly professional staff who showed me to table. When I requested a different seating location they were happy to accommodate and guided me to table that better suited me. The food and drink menus were not overly extensive but provided a good selection of choices. I ordered an entrée of Kingfish (special of he day recommended by the staff), a Main of roasted Pork Belly with a side of roasted potatoes and a fig based desert. I was surprised when the chef came out to speak with me, as he had noticed that I had ordered an expresso martini to be served with my dessert. He offered to pair my dessert with my cocktail choice. This he did by combining my original dessert order with a coffee flavoured ice-cream.
In short both the serving and kitchen staff made the evening quite memorable.
I will be back, next time with family and friends.

Love this place, tried hot cakes and kale & cauliflower salad and polenta were amazing!

I went to Higher Ground twice over the course of a couple of days, and had the eggs Benedict and the chorizo toastie.

Both were delightful. The bread was a perfect thickness and crunchiness, and the flavours in both dishes were experts balanced.

I had a long black and a mocha, and both were excellent.

I sang the praises of both dishes to anyone who would listen, and know of at least in person who took the recommendation, dined at Higher Ground, and also thoroughly enjoyed it.

We had a most enjoyable evening. Friendly and attentive staff throughout the evening. A varied selection of tasty and well presented food. Lovely, airy and spacious setting. The music was a bit loud for us, however, the acoustics for conversation were good. Highly recommended!

Great ambience for dinner session. Fresh ingredients and modern techniques. Dishes taste as described on the menu. We spent $140 for 2. Ordered two entrées, one main, one side and one dessert à la carte with 3 glasses of wine.

We had a lovely meal at Higher Ground. The wait staff were friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. One of our party called it the best pork belly she'd ever eaten. Would definitely recommend.

The music playing in the restaurant was so loud and the table near the cashier was so low that we were uncomfortable eating. The pork was pretty bad. I’m sorry to write it but we might never go back there for a meal.

Said in the booking it was our anniversary - they did not attempt to do anything to make it special

Great atmosphere in the spacious restaurant made for a good first impression. Staff were helpful in clarifying any queries about the menu and services. We really enjoyed the food - well prepared, great taste and ample proportions. Overall it was an excellent dining experience.

This place has great food, fast service and overall a great environment. I would def come back here again.

A bit pricey but definitely one of the nicest cafes in Melbourne. Good service and ambience.

Food , wine and service exceptional. I had the market fish with mussels , was delicious. Add a great pinot . Will definitely be back .

Great place for a bite and drink. Menu on website is not up to date which is disappointing.
It would be great if they widened their snack menu. Service was great!

This place is truly amazing inside but the menu is "way out there" for breakfast. None of the 6 people at our table really liked the breakfast menu and felt really disappointed at the options. There were none of the usual breakfast options you get at other venues which really let this place down. Just ordering toast with jam was not what I was hoping to order that morning. And it came out as hard as a rock!! Unfortunately we won't be going back for breakfast any time soon :(

Recommended by friends. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful. Interesting brunch menu. But the food was average. We are also very disappointed about the service.

So delicious and the space is beautiful. A major bonus is you can book a table! Not my first time and certainly not my last time

Great table service and food recommendations. All of our shared dishes were excellent.

Calm and low lighting atmosphere suitable for people who wants a moody dinner scene.

It was great to visit this place in the evenings when it is not as hectic. We have been here for dinner before so was looking at showing our Sydney friends.
Most of us ordered the pork belly and unfortunately it was slightly over done.
The hot chocolate also didn't have the chocolate punch I was expecting.
Brunch and lunch is definitely better and more polished.

Thank you for your hospitality. We all had a great time, the coffee was good and the meals were delicious. Our entire group enjoyed the food and the service was great.

Need more attention to each table.
