Worth coming back for more visits. Food is awesome and service staff is very attentive and accommodating to our needs. All the best.
Jean from Singapore. Thanks
The duck pate' and the Barramundi was delicious!
Incredible room, great staff and an amazing six-course set menu. Would highly recommend.
Incredible night of dining with friends. Food and service was AMAZING and menu and beverage options were excellent. Food was AMAZING and the ambience and building was awesome, great location.
Average, overpriced food. Paid $30 for fish and then when I found bones in it and told the waiter that they might want to be aware of this so others didn’t choke, she did not seem to think this was a problem. Didn’t apologize or anything.
I was given a voucher for Higher Ground, so I didn't know what to expect. What I found was a beautiful converted old building with soaring ceilings that form a peak, hence the name Higher Ground! The staff were excellent. From serving staff to the manager, everyone took excellent care of us. Now for the food! We chose the a-la-carte menu, rather than the set priced menu, and were pleasantly surprised with the quality and flavour of the dishes. My barramundi had the best crispy-skin ever, whilst my husband's steak was cooked to perfection. I would highly recommend this restaurant for its variety, flavour, and service.
Food was great. We went for the set nenu and the six of us liked it. Table service was great too. Very friendly and cosy admosphere even though the restaurant is big. We’ll come back again.
Date night with hubby wanted somewhere with food and ambience that was a bit special but not over the top and Higher Ground was just that. Would go back and take others. Brunch menu looks amazing too
wonderful food and service really enjoyed the different menu items offered. Disabled access was very good.
Our waiter from The Netherlands was very friendly and helpful.
Great venue, great fresh food. Excellent location near Southern Cross Station.
Cool building and great ambience. Beautiful food and coffee. Superb service!
When Higher Ground had initially opened, it was certainly the place to be. This most recent visit coincided with friends visiting from Hong Kong and Dubai. As a group, the food quality received mixed reviews - and most notably was the drop in quality of the coffee. The cafe staff were attentive, the same can not be said of the kitchen staff. In particular an individual named Paul would benefit from a crash course in basic manners and courtesy.
I went there for dinner. I heard it's good for brunch. Maybe I should have gone for brunch. The space is beautiful, high ceilings, cavernous feel.
The food was nice, but I was hungry after (despite having also ordered dessert). Service was good, albeit could be slow, and we ended up cancelling our hot drinks as it hadn't arrived, and we had finished our dessert and wanted to leave.
There was nothing bad about it, but I wouldn't be rushing back.
Whilst the menu and drink options were limited, they were wonderfully cooked and presented, I for one thoroughly enjoyed the wallaby shank special! The Restaurant seating and ambience was even better with lovely staff to match. Great venue for intimate dining as you can actually hear one another without the usual noisy background music.
Food was average. The tomato sauce on the fish wasn't very flavourful. Something was fried on the side but was chewy spongy. I was expecting a menu like about a year ago when I ate there which was delicious so sorry I was disappointed. Bring back the old menu please.
The staff and their personal service were exemplary. Thank you.
Too noisy. Friendly staff but slow to take order. Music too loud for conversation.
We celebrated our last night in Melbourne. It was a great evening. Place has a fantastic interior - a bit exclusive American loft feeling. Food was superb - had the chargrilled leek and the special of the day prawns as starters. Very tasty. But it was beaten by the lamb for two - so tender and delicious. We loved it. The service was very attentive and professional. Very recommendable place.
We had a great night here the service was excellent as was our food. We had a slow cooked lamb shoulder which was exquisite ! Plus beautiful salads. Well done everyone
Absolutely Exceptional place to dine
The food was delicious The waitress was very good
The food was great like always, a little loud for a business meeting and would have been better if the service was faster as we were working with a tight timeframe. All in all good.
Attentive and genuine service, great quality food and a menu to cover all tastes. Beautiful and comfortable space in an easily accessible location.
A regular for weekend brunch, 1st time for dinner. Everything about the evening was spectacular. Introduced colleagues to Higher Ground and entertained colleagues from Singapore - we all can’t wait to come back. Special mention to our waitress Emma - she made our evening that little bit more special. Her knowledge, recommendations, attention to detail and gentle, friendly personality, was appreciated by everyone in the group. Looking forward to dining for dinner again.
The restaurant's high ceiling captured my eye instantly, its industrial yet friendly design goes well with the food and cocktails. Nothing too fancy, everything was just right for a comfortable date. The waitstaff were quite friendly too, and very attentive to their customers.
Dinner was excellent - a unique place whether dining as a group, a couple or solo. The mornings are apparently hectic but evening was a relaxing experience. Both the contemporary cuisine and attentive staff service fulfilled expectations.
Hands down one of the best brunch experiences I have ever had. The food was INCREDIBLE (best scrambled eggs ever) with very attentive service. They also accommodated very well to dietary requirements of dairy free and gluten free making adjustments to the options available.
Amazing restaurant. Delicious food, great service, beautiful interior. Went back for coffee a couple of days later which was also worth the visit,
Average food, average service, over priced. When catching up with some out of town friends we thought we couldn’t go wrong with higher ground.... but we should have suggested breakfast or lunch, not dinner. Limited menu, food sounded good, but did not deliver. What was supposed to be an eclectic mix of flavours was over seasoned and uninspiring, and a touch over cooked. Staff were attentive in terms of providing water.... at $7 a bottles, but goodluck maintaining a full glass of wine or ordering a second round. From all accounts the breakky, lunch and coffee fare sounds incredible so I’d give them a second chance at an alternative time of day. Maybe it’s with sticking to what they’re good at?
Special thanks to Melissa from Oldham for her splendid friendly service
We first went to Higher Ground for breakfast (recommend booking) and had a great experience and enjoyed an alternative menu. We were so happy with the morning that we booked for Dinner the very next night and once again were not disappointed. Delicious meals, attentive friendly service, and great ambience. We would not hesitate in returning when next in Melbourne. Highly Recommend!
Food was outstanding. I requested a vegan meal and was blown away by how tasty everything was. The service was great, and they all were very proud of their Restuarant, which left an impression. Amongst the top two vegan meals I have ever had. I’ll be back in a flash next time I’m in Melbourne.
We had to have a set menu because we had a booking for 11 people. We felt like the food wasn't prepared well. Steak had a lot of gristle and not overly appealing on the plate.
I came here on a date night after a movie in Melbourne Central. The location was convenient and the interior of the restaurant was very impressive with its high ceiling and rustic brickwork look. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the wine selection was good, and the food was delicious. The restaurant was a bit echoey which is fine for casual conversations. Overall, it was a perfect night out.
What a great venue for a work function! The service was brilliant, the food delicious and the ambience perfect for our team's Christmas breakfast. I had the hotcakes - the presentation was spectacular and it was a taste sensation...a very generous serve so much so that I was unable to finish it!
Amazing food and great service. I have been twice for breakfast and both times were fantastic. The semolina porridge and beans with poached eggs awesome. Good coffee and friendly service. Love it.
Our reservations were wrongly cancelled but luckily was able to still give us a table.
Disappointed that the menu was very limited and with a few items not available that night.
Dessert menu was a real let down :(
Enjoyable experience overall, the music was a touch loud/bass heavy and we had a few too many waitstaff changes who were quite urgent to take an order on a 70% capacity night. The menu and wine list were enjoyable however.
Went for a team breakfast, and was really impressed with the food and coffee. Great atmosphere and service too
The service was exceptional. Enjoyed the beautiful interiors, great food. Thank You
