Great food, great service and a stunning location. They had put a Tipi up for weather conditions and Covid rules but was well managed and a great atmosphere.

Lovely setting even in the rain. Food was delicious and good value, drinks a bit on the pricey side but don’t mind that for the beautiful setting in quite remote location. Will definitely be back!

a fab visit to the cafe they’ve certainly done their very best to make al fresco dining as comfortable as possible-it was a very miserable wet day but that didn’t spoil our visit. All staff were polite & helpful and we actually got seated a little earlier than the booking time. Food was perfect and if we are in the area again we’d certainly visit. Thank you

Such a great set-up. The teepee was so lovely and the staff friendly and quick. It was very busy when we were there but it added to the atmosphere 🥳

My sister, who lives in Cumbria, and I from Northumberland met up for the first time in a while! I have just moved up so it was a big event😊Jill had the steak burger and thought she had died and gone to heaven, followed by the brownie. I had delicious felafel with flat bread and red pepper houmos, sadly pudding is not my thing. It was cold wet and horrible but the staff were upbeat and brilliant and I had brought rugs. You are a great place to meet up and so gorgeous - we will come again and this time go for a walk😊

Despite appalling weather the tipi dining experience was amazing from start to finish.
The staff were attentive, informative and delightfully cheerful and welcoming. Zander in particular was outstanding and made it feel as if you were visiting a friend’s house.
The food is fantastic quality and beautifully presented.
Such a wonderful trip out and well worth the journey for us all.

Unfortunately it absolutely poured down with rain and the wind was quite cold in the tipee. However the food was great as was the service. Definitely go again

Staff very helpful & professional, setting is amazing & at these strange times the outside sheltered area is great. Food is very tasty and very well presented & arrives quickly & hot. Can’t wait until we can sit inside again as I feel there is actually more space indoors than outside.

Hidden River Cafe was recommended by a friend and it didn’t disappoint. We could only book brunch at short notice as it is so popular, and we absolutely loved it. I will definitely book brunch again - and hope to get a lunch or dinner booking sometime soon too!

Great place
Small menu but food was nice
Out in the sticks but lovely place once we found it.
Staff were nice and worked really hard.
I would recommend to people.
I would definitely go again. I would have liked a slightly bigger menu. The tipi was a great atmospheric place.

The location is amazing, the view more than beautiful. The design of the place, the service, all wonderful and well done. The food is the only little negative point. The bread was an industrial sliced loaf from the supermarket while a artisanal sourdough one would have made a huge difference. An improvement of the food toward a more local /artisanal direction would make the place a real gem.

Our first time visiting Hidden River and it certainly won’t be the last. A wonderful experience having lunch in the teepee beside the fire pit. The flatbreads were delicious and the warm sticky toffee pudding was perfect. Thank you, we had a lovely time.

The social distancing was done really well and we were served drinks very quickly. We split a pizza between two as a starter and then had a burger with fries each. Food was exceptional and brought out piping hot. There are no parasols or heaters outside, so you're a bit at the mercy of the weather, but we were fine in a couple of layers and had a lovely view of the river. Perfect night.

Service was very poor, no cutlery, no condiments despite asking twice, seated in the shade when there were tables in the sun. We did get moved but had to ask several times. Brought wrong drinks before receiving the right ones.
Several different servers came to us leaving us to believe there was no system to who was looking after which table. Asked several times for menus, orders, deserts etc.
Not enough parking either had to park on the grass down a steepish embankment off the road.

We were given a food menu and a drinks menu, yet others seemed to be ordering a far larger variety of things, maybe we didn't get handed this menu or our face didn't fit. But people had sunday roasts and mussells none of which were on our menu which was quite limited to pizza, burger, flatbread or salad.

Food was ok, the "rosemary" chips had no flavour apart from being very salty and the prawns were some of the worst I have ever experienced - no flavour at all and luke warm.

Burgers were massive hence the need for cutlery of which we had to ask twice for, no sides offered ie. coleslaw or onion rings etc.

Lovely outdoor area very well distanced tables and some nice views, would be lovely if staying in a cabin but not somewhere I would return due to service. Staff need training/retraining on table management and service.

Burger was flat and tasted processed and when asked to sit in the sun they said no (which was understandable) but then they let a party (which I assume one was an employee) move their full table into the sun which was unfair as we were paying good money
