Heritij - Brisbane
The four of us had an amazing night out. Not only was the food excellent, and so very tasty it exceeded all of our expectations. Great service and a spectacular view, will definitely go back again.
Great for friend catch up or a business lunch. Food is excellent, well prepared and tastes as you would hope for. Love the outlook and the set out.
Beautiful food great seevice. The pork belly was to die for and the desserts were works of art. The night out was perfect!
one of our plates was dirty, the prawn bhajji had only a couple of small pieces of prawn and was dense and undercooked. The bengali wrap was overfilled with rice and contained little meat. The flambe lamb was served with what I thought was a roasted beetroot, but it turned out to be raw and rock hard.
However, it was not all bad, the lamb rendang, naans, fish curry, cocktails and ambience were very good.
Service is too fast ... must provide gaps between entres , mains and deserts
The food is comming to the table fast ...let's us to believe food is pre cooked and not fresh
Heritij was a great experience for my mum's birthday. For starters we had handkerchief roti,it was decent. The pork belly with the vindaloo sauce & wasabi crab was divine. The shrimp & the chicken from the tandoor was tender & tasted fantastic. We then ordered the 3curries,fish,lamb & a version of butter chicken. I wish we had stuck with the starters, the food went from amazing to blah. The fish & the lamb were super salty. The butter chicken saved the trio from being a total wipe out. I would recommend sticking with the starters. The service is exceptional. Our server Billy was always around without being intrusive & was helpful & very sweet.
The food server however did make a monumental mistake by putting all the curries in the same takeaway container. Maybe she should be made aware that one does not mix lamb, chicken & fish in the same container ( facepalm moment). Would I return again? For the starters & drinks absolutely. For the price of the mains, perhaps not.
Meat curry culture shared for two was really well cooked, fish curry outstanding, delicate but flavoursome. Gtlreat service & comprehensive drinks menu - will go again!
Great food, knowledgeable staff and good table. We sat at a round table which was perfect for sharing food. The lamb was excellent but so were all the other dishes. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
This was our first visit to Heritij and this is definitely going to the top of our list of favourites. Heritij is from the people who own Malt Dining so we had high expectations and we were not disappointed. Completely different to Malt but a new take on indian/asian flavours but with the same great service that we have always experienced each time we had dinner at Malt. Congratulations, on the success of this new concept and of course we respect the obvious talent of chef Manjunath Mural. Lucy and Junior .... thanks you lead a great guest service team.
Good service, best contemporary Indian in Brisbane. Flambe lamb is a must try, great food with spectacular theatrics.
Booked a table with a view and ordered 3 entrees and both curries samplers (first time so wanted to try everything)
Food very enjoyable and plenty for 4 people.
Great service - thanks Billie
I enjoyed the food but our waitress was on her first shift so useless as an adviser for the menu. Luckily my partner and I are experienced diners and were able to interprete the confusing menu. The seating is like a cafeteria, awful, no atmosphere and screeching groups of women nearby. We asked if we could move to the balcony and were happier there but still could hear the screeching woman. No I won’t return. Loved the food but the place has zero atmosphere.
The food had fantastic flavours and it is a great setting.
Heritij clearly failed to meet our expectations. To make a reservation for Valentines Day with a specific time and then have to wait close to an hour was not the start we expected.
But then most of the courses were delayed, and much of it was cold except maybe the mains was frustrating. Being understaffed for the Valentines night was a poor excuse given to us and it reflects how the management was under prepared for the event. Still giving two stars to Heritij for serving us good food for the mains and dessert and the fact that two of the staff were courteous enough to apologize.
3 hours to have a very average dinner on Valentine’s day. Food was not even amazing, some meals were also half cold. Definitely not going back and not recommending it.
Unfortunately our Valentines Day dinner was a terrible dissapointment. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, service was terrible. Clearly the restaurant was very under-staffed. We were not given a wine list, had to go to the bar to get drinks twice due to lack of service. I waited an hour for my water glass to be refilled. Staff were visibly run off their feet, the maître d′ was literally RUNNING around the restaurant. Waiters had no idea which table food had to go to. We were there for over 3 hours and left before we recieved our dessert. Yes, it was a busy night, but this should have, and could have, been planned for. It was a set menu, so kitchen staff had no surprises and no excuse for delivering food to tables that was cold. We were certainly not alone in this situation - we were surrounded by other incredbly dissapointed and upset customers. The food did not live up to expectations of a restaurant that promotes themselves as having a 1 hatted Michelin chef at the helm. We did recieve a partial refund, but will not be recommending this restaurant to anyone. Highly dissapointing.
Great atmosphere, but poor service. Low value for money.... food was good, but didn't differentiate b/w your local indian neighborhood restaurant, so hard to justify paying 3x the price.
Farce of a Valentine’s Day package, began with an unapologetic greeter informing us that the set menu had to either be all vegetarian or not at all... meaning my omnivore husband had to eat vegetarian with me. This would have been fine if they had told us this when they called to reconfirm the res and the dietary requirements and not when we were arriving for dinner with no other options but ala carte in a packaged affair when there would likely be long delays. Waiter didn’t know how the set menu worked and gave me meat menu to choose from and my husband the vegetarian option.
Waited 30 mins for the bottle of wine we ordered the minute we sat down to arrive... this only arrived because husband went to the bar (confirmed hasn’t been ordered). In the first hour of sitting down we only had an amuse bouch and the entree. Took 3 hours for the 4 courses on a set menu, ridiculous. Finished bottle of wine before end of main with no offers of further drink service - again we eventually went to the bar ourselves to get dessert wine while waiting for dessert. Plates and food closer to cold than warm. Food runners had no idea what they were serving, telling me the parcels were not vegetarian and taking them away before returning with the same plate to say they were. Apparently they’d had some sickies that night, but still totally unacceptable service for a supposedly high end restaurant.
Most efficient part of the night was getting the bill.
For the price of this cuisine, we would have rathered ordered takeaway Indian 5 times over before eating here. Over priced, underwhelming and really distatesful food. Waitress was kind however recommended dishes that came out completely different to what she had stated, even the ingredients were incorrect. The assistant manager was yelling at staff and patrons in the middle of the restaurant and completely ruined the ambiance of the night. For a restaurant that wasn’t at capacity, service staff were causing scenes and forgetting to attend to their tables with ridiculous wait times in between meals. However the worst part, was definitely the food. Will never be returning.
Interesting Indian food with a twist. The platter to share had a good size.
Would love to have more vegeterian options in mains.
We had such high expectations for this meal but walked away very dissapointed. We were shown to our table and that's where the service pretty much ended for the whole night. No one approached us for at least 20 minutes, we had to usher someone to be served. We weren't welcomed by a server or explained the menu/recommended how to order. Once we got the attention of one of the servers, she took our drinks order and told her we were also ready to order food, but she was never to be seen again. Another 10 minutes later, we had to ushered down another waiter to take our food order.
Our entrees and tandoor dishes came out first. Some dishes were tasty, but the rest were just average and nothing amazing. We were expecting juicy and succulent chicken but some parts were dry and overcooked. Once this was cleared away, we waited for another 30 minutes+ for our mains and by this point, we were already full and clearly over ordered. Had a server explained the menu and told us the ideal way/number of dishes to order, we wouldn't find ourselves in this situation. To top the whole night off, the wrong bill was given to us. We were charged drinks we didn't order/consume that added an extra $100 to the final bill. Instead of an apology, the waiter just said "oh that's what happened" and laughed it off. The overall experience was just an absolute dissappointment. I don't know what market Heritij is trying to aim at, but judging by this experience, it's almost worse than your local Indian restaurant.
Too much noice. Firstly we are very disappointed with the seating. When I booked the table I clearly mention preferred Riverview table, when we entered we asked the waitress about this she said those are already occupied. Very very disappointed. Mainly we booked this for that Riverview option. Secondly food, only non veg starters are bit better remaining all too bad except the pani puri. When you want to go don’t expect too much about the food. Only few options and those were not within expectations. Overall Only the best thing is ambience . I don’t want to come here again.
Really poor start with a female greeting customers officious and rude. Things improved after that with a very good waiter. The food was acceptable but nothing out of the ordinary. As people have remarked it is a great fit out but the outside area is directly adjacent to the expressway overpass. Definitely worth a visit but once experienced I think locals will be reluctant to return.
Amazing food with fantastic flavours. The restaurant had a great atmosphere and great service
Relaxed lunch! View not the best
Alot of hype, failed to deliver on almost every level. 1 dish was good, rest of the food was rather bland. Staff were not up to scratch for a restaurant boasting michelin chef's. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone. It was a Saturday night and almost completely empty at peak times, I suspect others have had the same experience.
Maitre D was great and the view etc good... sadly food was very bland and the waiter seemed to present as some form of expert on Indian food which he really wasnt. order was wrong.. no chutneys or pickles because apparently “locals don’t like them “ tandoor bread undercooked and food cold on arrival. overpriced and the fusion ideas do not work with such heavy pastry .. Cocktails were well made.
Food from the Tandor was excellent but the lamb flambe was flavoursome but lamb was very very very overcooked. Wait staff there were plenty of them however we would have had probably 7 different waiters over the course of our meal....they were friendly and helpful but there was a distinct feeling of disorganization it was as if they weren't allocated to specific zones/tabled.
Good food. Good location..
Baigan Bhattacharya needs bit more spice and cooking... Gun powder aloo is average..
On arrival we were left standing in the foyer for too long waiting to be greeted and seated. The wait staff were enthusiastic but appeared to lack any formal training. There did not appear to be anyone coordinating front of house, this would have greatly enhanced the experience. The food was the saviour with good quality ingredients and flavour but there was no wow factor in any of it, nothing that stood out from its peers....
Food was great. Need more advice on portion sizes. Service was a bit patchy, however this was noted by the staff and they were incredibly friendly. Bar service excellent.
It was too commercial waitess selling younpackages and menu. They hover over head to order more items. Money making scheme and mains were disappointing
Very different Indian cuisine. The food was fresh and interesting. The flavours were great. We have dined in Singapore at Song of India so we were keen to come here to Heritij and we were no disappointed.
Beautiful blend/fusion of east meeting west! Loved the dishes and the ambience.
We had a wonderful meal at this restaurant. I have to admit I was very dubious to start with considering there are some very negative reviews. But we were very pleasantly surprised. For entree we had the pani puri. Yes you would not find the exact type on chowpati beach in Mumbai but we would say they were just as delicious. The hariyali chicken was beautifully spiced and cooked to perfection, moist and succulent. For mains we had the masahari curry culture. The portions were generous and the flavours were outstanding. The sides, asparagus poriyal and baigan bharta were spiced to perfection. Absolutely glorious. For dessert we had the galab jamun and elaneer payasam. The unusual presentation for the galab jamun was in point for flavour even though it was if a deconstructed presentation. Very clever. Now the coconut sphere, if you are a fan of coconut flavours this is the one for you. Just take a small taste, close your eyes and off you go to coconut heaven. Just Devine.
Elysia our waitress for the evening was attentive, friendly and provided a wonderful service that contributed to an all over positive experience.
The atmosphere and ambiance were well suited. It was not to noisy and the tables were well spaced. The wine list is extensive and well priced and suits the cuisine style.
If you are the type of person to expect a meat and mash potato type dish or huge portion over flavour, don't go. It is not the restaurant for you.
Overall, well done to all the staff and thank you for a wonderful evening. We will be back and we highly recommend this restaurant to all reading this review. A+++😀 I will provide photos if I can
The cocktail and wine list were really good, we enjoyed this thoroughly.
Unfortunately my partner and I thought the food flavours fell flat and we weren't 'wowed' like we were expecting.
There were also so many people serving us that it felt a bit crowded at our table at times. We had one person bringing beers, a different person pouring water and wine, and different staff members bringing us food which felt very inconsistent and busy.
I would try again however, as i would love to try the lobster and lamb shank.
Overall - its not bad.
Great venue, food was delicious! Spectacular views across to South Bank. Perfect for a date night or groups bookings with private areas. Service was good but dropped off when it got a little busy. Would recommend the trio of curries.
The staff were friendly and professional and we had a most enjoyable dinner
Over cooked rice!
