Here's Looking At You
Nice atmosphere. Portions good for sharing for two but not more than two. Some things were too salty for me. I'm glad we tried Here's Looking At You but I wouldn't go back. It wasn't special.
Besides the great food (and plates to share), their cocktails are outstanding! Just for them- go!
I am going to crave the frog legs and the blood cake!!!
Food is Always amazing. I’ve been there three times and it’s always been fantastic. Our server was amazing she guided us through the menu with ease.
We got the highlights - the frog legs and crispy fish which were both good but overall it was fine. Live close by and finally caved into the hype and maybe that’s why I was disappointed - it's not bad but not as good as I was expecting.
My husband and I brought my parents to "HLAY" to celebrate my mom's birthday. I requested booth seating & mentioned the occasion in advance on my open table reservation. The hostess had already prepared the booth & was aware of the occassion when we arrived. All the staff was very pleasant and accommodating. We told our server it was our first time dining at HLAY and diet restrictions/allergies when she asked & she was happy to explain the menu, coursing, & mark the dishes containing meat for my pescatarian dad on his menu. We ordered Grandma & Bub's bread, the scallops, yellowtail, fingerling potatoes, lamb, & the beam--all to share. Every dish was amazing. My mom really enjoyed the drink special: the current mood spritzer. She did a little shoulder shimmy with each course & that is universal social proof that this place did not disappoint. We received outstanding service from everyone with whom we had an interaction. Most pleasant surprise of the night? The dining room playlist! Every song was my jam & it was feel good music anyone could appreciate but not played too loud. My mom called it a night to remember & no doubt the food, service, & the vibes warranted such high praise. Enjoy. We certainly did!
Great food and service. So pleased I finally made it here!
Excellent food and service. Definitely coming back!
Both food and desserts tasted really good. Tasty cocktails. Service was great, too. Would definitely love to come back
Would definitely come back even though it’s a bit pricey, food and service were great!
Wonderful brunch. Have been a few times before and am always happy with the food. Wonderful flavors. Wonderful execution.
they run a tip-top joint, modern, innovative but with a graciousness to all customers.
Well trained, oiled staff, nicely schooled in service and attitude
Always excellent. Food is delicious and surprising. Small plates with fresh, flavorful, unexpected combinations. Great bar serves clever drinks that amuse and are also just flat out good! Attentive service, lively room but a place you can have a conversation. My go-to for guests visiting LA. Somehow with all this excellence still feels like a welcoming neighborhood spot. Worth the cost, have never been disappointed.
The service here is topknotch - we came for DineLA and thanks to the alert server realized allergies would be an issue and ended up with a very delicious selection from the regular menu.
I am slightly old-school on service and wish the table bussers would count to 30 before whisking away my plates, but I know most people now expect speed, especially at a small plate restaurant.
The food was amazingly delicious. Honestly, at first it seemed as though there were one or two too many exotic ingredients on the menu for just about everything, including the drinks, but the chef/bartender/creator folks are BRILLIANT and everything works.
I had a gin beverage with who knows what in it that was perfectly flavored. And the mussels were a revelation. The portions for these could have been just a tad more generous....
On the other hand, the Tomahawk porkchop was a complete smash! Huge, exquisitely flavored and cooked just right. Worth every penny.
It's a beautiful place and I look forward to returning.
I only had two dishes here, the Gem lettuce salad and the Hamachi collar. Both were spectacular. The salad was served Thai spring roll style, with whole Gem lettuce leaves served on top of the mix of other ingredients. You spoon the mix into a lettuce leaf and then eat it with your hands (you can use a fork and knife if you're a priss). Best salad I have had in a long time.
The second course, the Hamachi collar was so incredibly good. I can't even begin to explain. I didn't know what the "collar" was. Its the part just below the head, and includes a fin. So you have to pick the fish off the bone. I think I picked every little tiny bit.
The bar service was also excellent. I like a good negroni (100th anniversary this year) and they made an excellent one. The two glasses of wine that followed were both highly rated bottles (>90 point ratings). The selection of wines by the glass were limited but quite excellent and paired well with the dishes.
At first glance, the menu has some very unusual items and may be off-putting to some people (beef tongue, chicken liver, collar!). I had to research some terms on the menu. I will definitely be going back to this place when I have the chance.
I’d love a bit less noise, but truly enjoyed everything else about our visit!!
Excellent. Chef was such a great guide for our dining experience. Our server was a great conductor of the food orchestration. Happen to catch it during DineLA. So good. So delicious. Looking forward to checking out their next new spot in Silverlake...ALL DAY BABY!
Loved the cocktails even though they’re very pricey. Would’ve ordered more had they been $5 cheaper.
Flavors were on point, but we were disappointed with the al pastor - tough, chewy and just some pineapple on top, wanted it to be fatty but crispy and melty
Staff were all excellent
Inventive, fresh, seasonal dining with a touch of eclecticism. Loved it.
Food was great, ambiance could of been a little better for the price, but overall the food was amazing! I’d go again.
Unusual cuisine expertly prepared. This I a very special restaurant that never disappoints. Great food and excellent drinks.
Here's Looking At You is legitimately the most underrated restaurant in Los Angeles. Fine dining with a party atmosphere. The service is impeccable and the cocktail program is the best in the city. Michelin doesn't know what they're missing out on.
Disappointed in the Dine LA menu outcome. Some dishes were a hit, but many others were not. The presentation of the food was sorely lacking, too sloppy. Was excited to come and check it out based on the great reviews out there. But the food experience did not live up to the reviews. On the other hand, the cocktails were great.
We had a wonderful brunch. The food is out of the world, Charolette and George were wonderful. Will definitely be back soon!
My experience was not bad. I wanted to try out a new brunch spot. The only place to sit was at the bar, which was okay. I'm not one to be shy to spend for a great meal, but for what you got here, I thought it was a bit overpriced.
Wanted to have an early-ish dinner with a long time friend who I haven’t seen one-on-one in ages. We were able to score bar reservations (both service industry vets- we always prefer to sit bar side) and though we didn’t do too much research on the menu, we were not disappointed. Our bartender (and the hostess and food runner) were helpful but not pushy with our selections, everything was delicious and we walked out of there without feeling overstuffed. Cocktails were well worth the prices, I went out of my comfort zone at the recommendation of the bartender and I think I found a new favorite cocktail with the Copyright Rickey.
We ended our night with that 7.1 earthquake, but the experience would have still been unforgettable without it. Thanks for a great night out.
Love this place, excellent food and service, and amazing drinks!
Loved the food and this place is so cute! Definitely going back!
GREAT FOOD,GREAT SERVICE,WE WILL BE BACK!! FOR SURE!!!! Lovely looking place with great energy.
Never been here. Like that they explained their philosophy of sharing food. Everything we shared was delicious. There was a seating error but offered us free round of drinks for inconvenience, more than enough to make up for slight inconvenience. They know hospitality. Was going to event at the Wiltern hope we are this way again. Biscuit and gravy best I’ve ever had!!
This had to be the strangest dining experience ever. The menu for Saturday lunch was printed and offered many choices. We ordered a couple of items to be shared. One being a pate with 2 pieces of sourdough toast. After we finished the 2 pieces we were asked if we wanted another and we did. We were later shocked to see we were charged 2 dollars for thus extra slice. We also ordered a salad and asked that the cilantro be left off and light on the dressing. We were told that they don’t do modifications on the menu items. This was a new response, have never been told this before. So we decided to order another item and was told the same thing when we asked to have the dressing left off. So apparently everything at this restaurant is prepared early in -PRE MADE- with no modifications allowed. Definitely will not be returning to this establishment. Found the attitude here arrogant and not worthy of any praise in the food department .
Loved the food and the drinks, both very creative. Nice neighborhood vibe and very friendly and charming staff.
This place was recommended buy an LA friend whom i asked places to eat over a three day visit. This was small, comfortable, intimate and friendly. The staff was terrific. The food inventive excellent.
I loved this place already, and wanted to take my visiting cousin (and maid of honor) for a special treat. She loved it. The restaurant even accommodated my mother surprising us with a round of drinks to celebrate my & my fiancée’s recent engagement. Great place, great food, great people!
great food great drinks, try the pear dessert
Unique food, very tasty!
Excellent service; friendly and attentive. Food was mixed: hamachi crudo and collar were great, herb salad extremely salty.
The best in la
