Fantastic traditional Spanish food, amazing aged jamon (the Iberico in particular), tapas sharing (suits 2 or 3), also loved the Tomato Bread, Morcilla Sausage (Blood pudding) with Duck Egg, and Snapper Cerviche. Limited wine list, however some quality, affordable Spanish wines. Some quirky ideas with imported sardines served in tin. Perfect opportunity for those rekindling memories of Espana!!!
Fast and efficient service. Waiter was very helpful selecting menu items. Great sangria and tapas.
Lovely atmosphere and very attentive service. As a table of six we sampled a lot of the menu and we were very happy with every dish. Stand outs were the mushroom salami, salt and pepper squid and croquettes. I will definitely be back soon.
Food is great. I know it's tapas but for the price of some of the plates I think the serves are too small. Drop the price a bit or increase the portion. Service is friendly and reasonably quick. They forgot one of our dishes and then gave it to us for free so I thought that was a good approach. love the seating, love the style of service and plates etc. will definitely go back again .
Fabulous for a pre-show dinner! Shared plates offer tasty variety. Enjoyed background music.
We were very please with the ambiance and service of your restaurant. Our main meals were both tasty and well presented. The starter which was squid was disappointing as it was very over cooked and "rubbery".
Service was very poor, we were in a corner, virtually ignored for most of the night, food orders not placed and drink orders forgotten. Had to wait for our meals despite letting them know on arrival we had a theatre performance to get to. Food was over priced and average.
It actually should be Heno & HEY - can you serve me please!
True to it’s name, in Spanish, the name refers to the location - on the corner of King and Hay - previously CBD as part of the now defunct Rydges hotel.
Frankly the food here is fab. Aligned to traditional tapas style, the serves are petite and beautifully presented.
Having dragged a couple of friends along, Muzz and the stunning Bluey, the Uber Blonde snagged a table outside in the weakening sun and revelled in the superb Spanish whites on offer. Verdejo, Godello and Albariño all crossed the table. More about that later.
The food was well above what we have previously enjoyed in this style, slightly smaller serves but punching above their weight in flavour and texture.
First off was Snapper with chickpeas, greens and fragments of chorizo was a delight and a surprisingly complimentary combo.
Squid, sausage with duck egg, kingfish cerviche and heirloom tomato salad rounded off a brilliant showcase of what is a promising kitchen.
As a fan of all things Spanish, the wine list here is well rounded with sprinklings of brilliance, the Mengoba Brezo Godello a case in point. A dry white originating in Godella in northern Spain, it’s also grown in Portugal, and has a refreshing snap to it and is designed to be consumed at room temperature.
If you spot a bottle grab it!
As a spot for a relaxed long lunch it’s fab, edgy food but the service borders on appalling (we had to ask to have the plates cleared at least four or five times), so practice your “waiter hailing wave”, you will sure as hell need it.
Brilliant location and superb food.
Food was yummy, good location if you want a meal before a show at His Majesty’s. Some of the plates were maybe a bit overpriced considering the serving size (and in comparison to other places in Perth that serve tapas). Service was okay... our waitress was great but the restaurant definitely needed more staff on to be able to adequately cope with the number of patrons.
Fabulous as always, food is so consistently good...love it
Plenty of options on the menu. A great ambiance and location. Service was fast and definitely will return.
Am enjoyable lunch. The ambiance is exceptional and a great location. Food was fresh and delicious and plenty to choose from. The sangria was perfect.
Food was lovely but there were some disappointing issues with the menu. The “beer and ciders” menu had no ciders. There was a specials list appended to the front of the menu but stupidly that was for specials starting the following week. Why put these on the menu in advance without them actually applying? When we happily tried to order them we were told they started two days later. I’d suggest that if you advertise something on the day, it should apply on the day!
We were not impressed with this restaurant. The service was the worst service I have received in a very long time, the food was slow coming out, cold and just very ordinary, the potato bravos looked like it had been sitting out all day and was so dry. It took 45 minutes to get our order taken and then another 15 minutes just to get our water brought to the table. I would not go here again and would not recommend this restaurant. The ladies the table next to us, also complained about the service and quality. The restaurant was also not at capacity.
Went as a group of four and weren’t overly impressed. I think there are better Spanish tapas places in Perth. Service was less that average.
Fabulous food as always. On this occasion the service was lacking due to a lack of wait staff.
Great location. Fast and friendly service. The food came out very quickly.
Overall a top quality tapas restaurant. Right in the middle of Perth CBD. Staff were friendly and took care of us. Great food also.
Spent a lovely couple of hours at Heno & Rey. Couldn't fault anything. Great service, food and ambience. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be going back!
Great tapas restaurant in the heart of the Perth CBD. The raw bar was sensational and sangria superb. Friendly and attentive staff.
We dined here for lunch during the week. We ordered from the raw bar. Snapper ceviche and some oysters. I liked the design concept. Very modern tapas restaurant.
Overall experience was very good and what we ordered (3 dishes and a salad to share between 3) was delicious. There were some comments amongst us as to prices. $11 for a very small salad that was really just rocket and parmesan? Croquettes to share (from memory around $15) which turned out to be 3; just enough for 1 each? You don't go away "satisfied" unless you are prepared to order multiple dishes. We had croquettes, whitebait, a diced potato dish as well as the small salad. It wasn't enough for 3 people, even with one of the party having a very small appetitite. Otherwise it was a good experience and we will probably go back and give it another go and order something different next time.
The staff were very friendly and helped select our wine and advised the food to share. Buzzing and exceptional location in heart of Perth.
Energetic staff who were knowledgeable about the food and wine menu. Some great recommendations which made ordering easier for us. You can choose between indoor and outdoor seating. A great location.
Lots of options on the menu. Food was good if nota bit pricey for the serving size but you expect that from a CBD tapas restaurant.
A very good Spanish tapas bar in the CBD. Good atmosphere and great menu.
Great menu and brilliant service. The tapas was fresh and tasty. Best location in city.
Very nice and pleasant place to have a meal. It is a great location in Perth and the atmosphere was superb. The service was excellent and the food amazing. A great place.
Incredible food, ceviche was amazing. Service is impeccable and the location is great! Will be back !!
Excellent raw bar. Snapper ceviche and beef were sensational. The waitress was very helpful with our ordering. Perfect location and great atmosphere.
Outstanding food and service. Will definitely be back. Great local produce and exceptional menu. Staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the food and drinks menu.
This is an excellent restaurant with superb food and great service. The food is always spot on and well priced.
The staff were excellent in providing wine and food recommendations for us. Brilliant to sit in the outdoor dining area. A great atmosphere at this restaurant.
Excellent dining experience. Fast and efficient service and great location for a business lunch. Food was sensational.
The service let the night down - they were very busy with the pre-opera crowd who all wanted to eat quickly and then all pay at once. It was also the night before a public holiday and neither the rooftop bar or the restaurant seemed to have adapted their staff levels for this.
We had no service approach us with water or drinks so went up and asked if we could get service. The service was hard to get to come over to us all night, so it didn't seem to get much better after the opera crowd left. The waiter of our area seemed to be the one who was on the till for when people were paying as well so he was often caught up over there.
The food was nice and tasty, but fairly small servings.
Didn't realise the restaurant was mostly outdoor, and there didn't seem to be any heaters or screens to warm the place up.
We grabbed a quick dinner before a show at His Majesty's Theatre. It was right across the road so there was no stressing about being late for the show. The Tapas menu really suited a quick bite to share with a glass or two of wine. Highly recommended.
The staff were so lovely in helping us choose a wine and recommending dishes, the food was sensational, lovely and fresh, great that we could also watch them cooking, i definitely recommend for a date night.
Chef/waiter extraordinaire was fab chose dishes that suited us perfectly for 4 people different palates. Well done
Great location and lovely Spanish ambiance. Food was perfect and loved the sangria.
