Food was good, serving sizes are moderate given it is a tapas offering.
Unfortunately the service was terrible. It was hard to get staff attention to order drinks and food and hardly had anyone come to us without us having to flag someone down to do so.
Very disappointing service for what is meant to be a more premium eatery.
The service would deter me from coming back as frequently, which is a shame as the food was nice.
Our table had a napkin in the silver cutlery bucket, which had blood on it. I showed it to the bar staff and they were completely nonchalant about it. Not the reaction you'd expect from an Intercon outlet.
The food being Tapas, you would expect it to come out together, instead one plate at a time came out and it felt as though the restaurant was massively under-staffed.
One of my guests ordered a Pimms and Lemonade. There was no Pimms available so instead of coming back and letting us know, a plain lemonade was brought over and it took for my guest to ask the waiter to find out what had actually happened. Again, this isn't the level of service one would expect from an Intercon eatery.
Another visit with an interstate friend. We have excellent food and service until it came time to pay and it was very difficult to attract attention. Finally I got up and went to the cashier. I was after 9pm so maybe it many of the staff had left??
Great quality Tapas, the Heritage Tomatoes with the whipped goats cheese are very tasty as are the usual Tapas suspects. The outstanding dish is the flat iron steak, perfectly cooked and seasoned. The only thing that is not great is the price for Tapas. Tomato bread should really be a few dollars at most, as most of the time it is free in Barcelona. Indeed the Para Picar section of the menu is twice what it should be in price. Otherwise a great venue and the wait staff are fantastic.
Lovely food and service but the music was way too loud . We go seated right behind the speaker but we asked to be moved as I could hardly hear my partner and was uncomfortable to be that close.
We decided to ditch the crowds on Melbourne Cup Day and have a girlfriend catchup over a glass of bubbles. Heno & Rey delivered the space, calm and casual, in which to do that. My girlfriend and I decided on a few dishes with some advice from the wait staff. The dishes were tasty, if a little small, and the bubbles were spot on. Feeling indulgent we decided to get desert, the signature custard tart and churros. Unfortunately, that's where the delight ended, as the churros were over cooked, very oily, and served with the most banal and watery chocolate sauce I've ever come across. It's a shame as churros are synonymous with Spain, and if you can't get a national dish right, its not a good sign. I hope this was just a one-off hitch.
The food was absolutely incredible
We had a pre opera dinner and Heno & Rey and enjoyed the meal. They were very busy, but
kept communicating with our table . The food was great.
We have been here several times but on this occasion the fried whitebait was smaller portion than before and there were hardly any fried capers. Then when we got the bill the price of a bottle of wine was $10 more than on the menu. Lucky we checked the bill. The food is usually very good indeed and great service - maybe this was just a Friday night hiccup. We got there at 6pm so not as busy as it can be!!
Delicious food, good service and great decor. All good except for the Amex surcharge.
Very tasty TAPAS, friendly service and reasonable prices. Opposite His Majesty's Theatre so perfect for pre or post theatre eats.
Delicious and authentic tapas. Would go here again.
Food was very tasty, however the service and price let this place down.
Food and wine was amazing and loved the atmosphere
Special but relaxed birthday lunch. Fantastic food and great value for money.
Breakfast set up is terrible. Poor service, average menu, no wonder it was empty. Had the greek yogurt which was just a massive bowl of yogurt. Toast was burnt. Still like it for lunch and dinner, but will never go back for brekkie.
Good average but nothing outstanding in the food. Ok for a quick bite. Service was great though
Great delicious food. Terrible service. When we were ready to order (arrived 7pm, ordered about 8pm), the waitress said that the kitchen was on a 10 minute "rest break" as they had been so busy. I thought that was ridiculous so I asked them to put the order & then bring the food out when the chefs were "rested". They forgot one of our main dishes - we asked a waiter where our chicken was & he said they were still grilling it, yet when we asked our original waitress she said they forgot to put it on the order. When we finally got our food, we were a party of 4 and had ordered croquettes which came in serves of 3 - why did the waitress not notify our table that perhaps we needed another serve so that everyone could try it?? When we asked for another serve, only then did she tell us that you could order a larger main size with more portions... Seriously???
Food was delicious, and wine was Moore-ish! However the service was horrible. Asked for water three times and just got up and grabbed a bottl ourselves.
Asked for an all gluten free meal, normal bread came out. Had to then ask three times to remind them for gluten free bread.
I manage fast paced hospitality venues and this places just lacked that genuine interest and care. Had been once before on a busy Friday night and had a good experience.
This was a Saturday night, not busy, and would now never recommend and hope they can find some staff who can understand what the customer wants.
Amazing food and very friendly and efficient staff... the churros and tort are musts for dessert
A great place with delicious food and wine great background music and happy and helpful staff. It made a catch up with a long time friend even better-thank you! Have already recommended it to friends and will be back
I've eaten at Heno&Rey a handful of times in the past year and the dishes are consistently fresh and delicious and the serving size is generous. Also the service is attentive yet informal. Definitely on my trusted 'go to' list for Perth CBD.
The service and food were amazing. I've had a great time with my family.
Great range of food options. Everything we ordered was very tasty. Offering carafes of wine is also great value. Slight confusion with booking online for table options but readily sorted. Service was friendly and efficient. Would definitely recommend and will probably visit again.
Took me back to Spain! Absolutely loved it! The food was amazing! Prawns super fresh and cooked to perfection!
Heno & Rey had the atmosphere, impeccable food and affable service that would be expected of a bill three times the amount we payed. Perfect pre-theatre or for an intimate date, the Spanish Tapas menu offers a range of options, perfectly providing for the adventurous and the more conservative to enjoy a meal together- something that is often a trying task!
It was delicious and the service was great. The octopus was particularly yummy as was the squid. The wine list was also tasty.
Lovely food and outstanding service. Will definitely be back.
The food at Heno and Rey is good, the staff are pleasant, it is convenient for His Majesty's Theatre but the loud music makes conversation impossible and spoils what otherwise would be a pleasant evening. It also shuts early which is shame so dining after a show is not an option.
Great food, friendly service and good spot for people watching. Will be back for sure.
Really impressed with Heno & Rey, the food was cooked fresh to order and tasted like genuine Spanish tapas.,...took us back to being in Ibiza nibbling on tapas & drinking sangria in local restaurants :-) Tomato bread was lovely, as were the croquettas & patatas bravas. Star of the show was the fish - absolutely divine. Sangria was good too. Definitely recommend.
The venue is in an excellent position and has great potential. The food was relatively good, however, the service is not up to standard. On arrival we were pointed in the direction of our table and left to find it ourselves. We spent approximately 3hours at the venue and were approached only once to ask if we would like to order food/drinks. Considering at least 60% of the tables were empty, this is simply not good enough. We would have ordered plenty more to drink if the staff had been attentive. We were not even offered water for the table until we flagged someone down.
A fabulous pre theatre dinner! Service was wonderful, every dish was super tasty, presented beautifully and able to be shared. The staff made it easy to order extra dishes when our taste buds were so tantalised that we wanted a second or sometimes a third of some of our orders. Perfect in every way!
Shocking service. Arrived at 6pm. Had been sitting for 30minutes without any service. Had to get up and ask someone to take out order. So 45 min before anyone approached us or even got some water for the table. Had a show to attend at 8pm so then it was rushed and we couldn’t order any more food or drinks. The food was good but was a very disappointing evening as we had recommended the restaurant to the friends we were out with.
Excrllent waitress and excellrnt before going across the road for theatre.
Outstanding food and wine. Service was very good. Great location.
This was a great venue for its proximity to His Majesty’s Theatre and the menu perfect for a quick meal of shared plates, prior to the show.
Great for pre theatre food. The croquettes were a standout - with actual ingredients not just packed with rice. Great lighting for a date night
Some mix up with meals for other customers. No big deal
The food was divine and the service excellent. Perfect spot to have dinner before a show at His Maj and a drink afterwards.
