Hola & welcome to Heno & Rey!

With a focus on using fresh, Western Australian produce to create Spanish inspired flavours, Heno & Rey’s passion for food and drink mirrors the Spanish approach to life… Where a meal is the coming together of friends and family, and food is shared and enjoyed by all.

Located on the corner of King Street and Hay Street, near the InterContinental Perth City Centre, the aptly named Heno & Rey (translating to Hay & King) is a lively space to enjoy a drink, delicious tapas and the company of others!

Experience Heno & Rey’s alfresco dining area and along with Perth’s beautiful balmy weather, you’ll enjoy Spanish favourites such as Croquetas de Jamón, Patatas Bravas, grilled chorizo and the mouth-watering Jamón Serrano! Then wash it all down with a jug (or two) of our house made Sangria! If you are not a fan of this fruity cocktail, there are plenty of craft beers and Western Australians wine to choose from.

Poor service, not had to flag down a waiter for drinks 20 mins after sitting down. Tapas took 45 minutes and all brought our at different times, one dish forgotten and had to ask twice. Music far too loud. Overpriced for dish sizes.

Service was excellent but some of the food dishes were bland and the dishes weren’t staggered. Everything just came at once and sat on the table getting cold.

We had a 5-star experience- attentive friendly staff, comfortable outdoor seating, wonderful food (especially the tuna tartare) and cinnamon dessert sticks with dipping sauces. We’ll be back for sure!

@nd time we have been. Loved it so much the first time we went again. 2nd time around the food was still great but not quite as good. Both times they seem to have a problem with cocktails (even basic ones). Service was exceptional, food was great. Will happily go again.

Great food service, loved that staff were knowledgeable about the food - however more attention towards drinks service (checking if/when we needed drinks) would be beneficial for both customer and bottom line🥂

The service was light on. Had to always flag down an attendant to order drinks, food, bill. Would have liked dessert but had a show to go to and thought we’d run late by the time we got service.

Allowed a booking to be made for 9pm on Friday night and when we arrived were told that the kitchen was closed.

Don't allow people to make a booking if you're not open.

Would not recommend.

Terrible. Decided on this spot for our 10 year anniversary, booked well in advance and were left disappointed entirely by the service. It took 3 separate people to try and seat us initially and then we were eventually dumped somewhere by a 4th waitress. Ordered a fish and steak dish, amongst others, and since I cant eat fish, was very eager for the steak. It never arrived. Waitress was flippant and really didn't care at all and only noticed we didn't have the steak once she cleared the plates and I raised it, grill was empty at the time so it definately wasnt even put through. The food was ok but you cant rely purely on that. Will be taking this further as all I wanted was to have a good night with my wife

Food was nice but service was really poor. It was a quiet night with plenty of staff but they were very inattentive. Only once did anyone proactively come to the table to ask if we wanted anything. I had to spend ages getting the attention of staff to get water, then again to ask for drinks, then again to order food and again to ask about a dish that didn’t come out.

A fire alarm was going off in the hotel next door for at least 20 minutes too. We had enough and left and had desert elsewhere. I won’t go back and won’t recommend it.

Very comfortable atmosphere and location. Me and my Girlfriend had a lovely time dining here the other night and we were very impressed with the service and especially the food! The base layer sauce was amazing and I would 100% recommend this place to other couples!

Really enjoyed the food at Heno and Rey. Something for everyone on the menu and share plates make it easier to ample more dishes. Good wine list. Outdoor seating on a summer evening is perfect. Service was good as is the value. We will be back.

The food was nice, however for $19, I'd expect more than 2 prawns. Fairly overpriced for the portion sizes you receive. Service was also good.

Food was good, serving sizes are moderate given it is a tapas offering.
Unfortunately the service was terrible. It was hard to get staff attention to order drinks and food and hardly had anyone come to us without us having to flag someone down to do so.
Very disappointing service for what is meant to be a more premium eatery.
The service would deter me from coming back as frequently, which is a shame as the food was nice.

Our table had a napkin in the silver cutlery bucket, which had blood on it. I showed it to the bar staff and they were completely nonchalant about it. Not the reaction you'd expect from an Intercon outlet.

The food being Tapas, you would expect it to come out together, instead one plate at a time came out and it felt as though the restaurant was massively under-staffed.

One of my guests ordered a Pimms and Lemonade. There was no Pimms available so instead of coming back and letting us know, a plain lemonade was brought over and it took for my guest to ask the waiter to find out what had actually happened. Again, this isn't the level of service one would expect from an Intercon eatery.

Another visit with an interstate friend. We have excellent food and service until it came time to pay and it was very difficult to attract attention. Finally I got up and went to the cashier. I was after 9pm so maybe it many of the staff had left??

Great quality Tapas, the Heritage Tomatoes with the whipped goats cheese are very tasty as are the usual Tapas suspects. The outstanding dish is the flat iron steak, perfectly cooked and seasoned. The only thing that is not great is the price for Tapas. Tomato bread should really be a few dollars at most, as most of the time it is free in Barcelona. Indeed the Para Picar section of the menu is twice what it should be in price. Otherwise a great venue and the wait staff are fantastic.

Lovely food and service but the music was way too loud . We go seated right behind the speaker but we asked to be moved as I could hardly hear my partner and was uncomfortable to be that close.

We decided to ditch the crowds on Melbourne Cup Day and have a girlfriend catchup over a glass of bubbles. Heno & Rey delivered the space, calm and casual, in which to do that. My girlfriend and I decided on a few dishes with some advice from the wait staff. The dishes were tasty, if a little small, and the bubbles were spot on. Feeling indulgent we decided to get desert, the signature custard tart and churros. Unfortunately, that's where the delight ended, as the churros were over cooked, very oily, and served with the most banal and watery chocolate sauce I've ever come across. It's a shame as churros are synonymous with Spain, and if you can't get a national dish right, its not a good sign. I hope this was just a one-off hitch.

We have been here several times but on this occasion the fried whitebait was smaller portion than before and there were hardly any fried capers. Then when we got the bill the price of a bottle of wine was $10 more than on the menu. Lucky we checked the bill. The food is usually very good indeed and great service - maybe this was just a Friday night hiccup. We got there at 6pm so not as busy as it can be!!

Great delicious food. Terrible service. When we were ready to order (arrived 7pm, ordered about 8pm), the waitress said that the kitchen was on a 10 minute "rest break" as they had been so busy. I thought that was ridiculous so I asked them to put the order & then bring the food out when the chefs were "rested". They forgot one of our main dishes - we asked a waiter where our chicken was & he said they were still grilling it, yet when we asked our original waitress she said they forgot to put it on the order. When we finally got our food, we were a party of 4 and had ordered croquettes which came in serves of 3 - why did the waitress not notify our table that perhaps we needed another serve so that everyone could try it?? When we asked for another serve, only then did she tell us that you could order a larger main size with more portions... Seriously???

Food was delicious, and wine was Moore-ish! However the service was horrible. Asked for water three times and just got up and grabbed a bottl ourselves.
Asked for an all gluten free meal, normal bread came out. Had to then ask three times to remind them for gluten free bread.
I manage fast paced hospitality venues and this places just lacked that genuine interest and care. Had been once before on a busy Friday night and had a good experience.
This was a Saturday night, not busy, and would now never recommend and hope they can find some staff who can understand what the customer wants.
