Food and ambiance was great but returned for another drink after a show and found it quite different. The Qld Rugby team were drinking and enjoying themselves and suddenly all the staff were too busy fussing over them to serve us. We had to ask 3 times for a glass of French champagne and then told we could only have one as they were now closing. Initial service at dinner was good though (same staff)
The service by the manager & wait staff was exceptional especially for a busy lunch period - the best customer service I have received in Perth for years. Thank you for making our dining experience so enjoyable!!!
We booked a table prior to a concert at Her Majestys' next door. The restaurant was booked out, but there were only two wait persons on, and whilst they were trying their best, they couldn't keep up. We had to ask for water twice, a request for another chair was never filled, and trying to get the waiters' attention was hard work. The meal, whilst not too long in coming, was okay. The crispy fresh caught squid was decidedly not crispy. Overall, not cheap for what you were served, the food was average and the restaurant was understaffed.

Great food. Exceptional wine and a knowledgeable server.
Hi DeirdreR, We are so pleased to hear you enjoyed your experience at Heno & Rey. Many thanks, Frances (Marketing Executive
Fabulous food with great service. Definitely going back!
Hi EvelinaP, Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review and we are glad to hear you enjoyed your experience with us. Many thanks, Frances (Marketing Executive)
Food was good, however the service was terrible. We weren’t given menus and had to physically call the wait staff whenever we wanted anything.
Pre show supper before ballet. Service was quick, friendly and food Delicous.
Loved it and would go again
Great food but very inattentive service. I don't think the service staff has received professional training. They don't seem to understand what service entails.
Very expensive cocktails. They had run out of half the wines on the list. Food average to good.
Lovely food and atmosphere, but the staff need better training as they were quite inexperienced.
Very disappointing meal. Portions were small and overpriced and not nearly big enough to share. The flavours were also lacking and very little guidance or knowledge of the dishes from the staff. In comparison to other Tapas restaurants in Perth, it came in well short. Will not be going again.
Been to Heno’s more times than I could count and love the place - only reason it didn’t get five stars from me today is the last two visits I feel the service hasn’t been up to their normal high. Nothing to do with the staff! They’re just as lovely and accommodating as ever, perhaps they’re just more under the pump due to staffing cuts? Lovely experience anyway...great food and terrific wine list - also a great people watching spot. Will be back, and soon.
Christian provides great service! Highly recommend
Poor service, not had to flag down a waiter for drinks 20 mins after sitting down. Tapas took 45 minutes and all brought our at different times, one dish forgotten and had to ask twice. Music far too loud. Overpriced for dish sizes.
Service was excellent but some of the food dishes were bland and the dishes weren’t staggered. Everything just came at once and sat on the table getting cold.
Delicious food, lovely atmosphere for lunch on a warm summer's day!
We had a 5-star experience- attentive friendly staff, comfortable outdoor seating, wonderful food (especially the tuna tartare) and cinnamon dessert sticks with dipping sauces. We’ll be back for sure!
@nd time we have been. Loved it so much the first time we went again. 2nd time around the food was still great but not quite as good. Both times they seem to have a problem with cocktails (even basic ones). Service was exceptional, food was great. Will happily go again.
Friendly, attentive service, great food and the music made for a great vibe. Very happy with the attention given to my allergies. Highly recommended.
Great food service, loved that staff were knowledgeable about the food - however more attention towards drinks service (checking if/when we needed drinks) would be beneficial for both customer and bottom line🥂
The service was light on. Had to always flag down an attendant to order drinks, food, bill. Would have liked dessert but had a show to go to and thought we’d run late by the time we got service.
Terrible. Decided on this spot for our 10 year anniversary, booked well in advance and were left disappointed entirely by the service. It took 3 separate people to try and seat us initially and then we were eventually dumped somewhere by a 4th waitress. Ordered a fish and steak dish, amongst others, and since I cant eat fish, was very eager for the steak. It never arrived. Waitress was flippant and really didn't care at all and only noticed we didn't have the steak once she cleared the plates and I raised it, grill was empty at the time so it definately wasnt even put through. The food was ok but you cant rely purely on that. Will be taking this further as all I wanted was to have a good night with my wife
Food was nice but service was really poor. It was a quiet night with plenty of staff but they were very inattentive. Only once did anyone proactively come to the table to ask if we wanted anything. I had to spend ages getting the attention of staff to get water, then again to ask for drinks, then again to order food and again to ask about a dish that didn’t come out.
A fire alarm was going off in the hotel next door for at least 20 minutes too. We had enough and left and had desert elsewhere. I won’t go back and won’t recommend it.
Hi LouiseForster, thank you for taking the time to write a review. I have passed your feedback on to our internal team and apologise for the service you experienced as this is not the level of quality we strive to achieve for guests. In regards to the fire alarm, we have checked our internal notes and it was a residential building whose fire alarm was going off. Again, we are sorry to hear of your service experience but glad to hear you enjoyed the food. Many thanks, Frances|Marketing Executive
Very comfortable atmosphere and location. Me and my Girlfriend had a lovely time dining here the other night and we were very impressed with the service and especially the food! The base layer sauce was amazing and I would 100% recommend this place to other couples!
Family dinner for a birthday. Heno and Rey is a favourite of ours and it didn’t disappoint. Food is always excellent, fresh and full of amazing flavours.
A little underwhelmed, average / slow service and so so food. I expected a little more from this venue after reading reviews and the price.
Loved it..cant wait to go back. The food, ambience and drinks were wonderful.
Really enjoyed the food at Heno and Rey. Something for everyone on the menu and share plates make it easier to ample more dishes. Good wine list. Outdoor seating on a summer evening is perfect. Service was good as is the value. We will be back.
The food was nice, however for $19, I'd expect more than 2 prawns. Fairly overpriced for the portion sizes you receive. Service was also good.
Great spot outside, fabulous food, good service. Well recommended
Food was good, serving sizes are moderate given it is a tapas offering.
Unfortunately the service was terrible. It was hard to get staff attention to order drinks and food and hardly had anyone come to us without us having to flag someone down to do so.
Very disappointing service for what is meant to be a more premium eatery.
The service would deter me from coming back as frequently, which is a shame as the food was nice.
Hi Jcee, thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that your service experience was less than desirable especially when we strive to achieve a premium offering for our guests. Please note that your feedback has been passed on to our internal team and will be addressed accordingly. Regards, Heno & Rey
Our table had a napkin in the silver cutlery bucket, which had blood on it. I showed it to the bar staff and they were completely nonchalant about it. Not the reaction you'd expect from an Intercon outlet.
The food being Tapas, you would expect it to come out together, instead one plate at a time came out and it felt as though the restaurant was massively under-staffed.
One of my guests ordered a Pimms and Lemonade. There was no Pimms available so instead of coming back and letting us know, a plain lemonade was brought over and it took for my guest to ask the waiter to find out what had actually happened. Again, this isn't the level of service one would expect from an Intercon eatery.
Another visit with an interstate friend. We have excellent food and service until it came time to pay and it was very difficult to attract attention. Finally I got up and went to the cashier. I was after 9pm so maybe it many of the staff had left??
Great quality Tapas, the Heritage Tomatoes with the whipped goats cheese are very tasty as are the usual Tapas suspects. The outstanding dish is the flat iron steak, perfectly cooked and seasoned. The only thing that is not great is the price for Tapas. Tomato bread should really be a few dollars at most, as most of the time it is free in Barcelona. Indeed the Para Picar section of the menu is twice what it should be in price. Otherwise a great venue and the wait staff are fantastic.
Lovely food and service but the music was way too loud . We go seated right behind the speaker but we asked to be moved as I could hardly hear my partner and was uncomfortable to be that close.
We decided to ditch the crowds on Melbourne Cup Day and have a girlfriend catchup over a glass of bubbles. Heno & Rey delivered the space, calm and casual, in which to do that. My girlfriend and I decided on a few dishes with some advice from the wait staff. The dishes were tasty, if a little small, and the bubbles were spot on. Feeling indulgent we decided to get desert, the signature custard tart and churros. Unfortunately, that's where the delight ended, as the churros were over cooked, very oily, and served with the most banal and watery chocolate sauce I've ever come across. It's a shame as churros are synonymous with Spain, and if you can't get a national dish right, its not a good sign. I hope this was just a one-off hitch.
The food was absolutely incredible
We had a pre opera dinner and Heno & Rey and enjoyed the meal. They were very busy, but
kept communicating with our table . The food was great.
We have been here several times but on this occasion the fried whitebait was smaller portion than before and there were hardly any fried capers. Then when we got the bill the price of a bottle of wine was $10 more than on the menu. Lucky we checked the bill. The food is usually very good indeed and great service - maybe this was just a Friday night hiccup. We got there at 6pm so not as busy as it can be!!
