Hellenika at The Calile
Excellent food. My only complaint is that I ate too much !!
I visited Hellenika on a Monday night and it was very busy and buzzing. I found the staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was cheery but it was certainly not my idea of high end and I am surprised that they are voted best restaurant of the Year. Absolutely nothing wrong with the food and service but I think its very overpriced and doesn't live up the hype.
Stunning surrounds. Solid good Greek food. Lots of staff but service not quite where it should be for the best restaurant in Queensland.
Great food! Great atmosphere & lovely staff. Our waitress Emma was amazing! She sorted out a small problem with our order in a timely & professional manner.
When arriving I was taken to my table by a young lady. I mentioned to her when shown the table that my 2 friends and I wanted to have drinks and bar food more so than a full dinner meal. The waitress was a bit abrupt in her response, saying that I had booked a table and that the bar tables don't need to be reserved. She snatched the menus off the table and marched down to the bar at which point she was nice again and asked if the table at the bar was ok. I have to admit I was a bit disturbed by that behaviour and mentioned it to my friends when they arrived who suggested I leave that in my review so you are aware and can attend to this as you best see fit. Otherwise the rest of the staff were attentive and very helpful, and we really enjoyed the food, drinks and ambiance.
I have been brought up on Greek food and Hellenika provided better than home cooked flavours! Wont be the last time for us!
Wonderful dinner with our children
Absolutely incredible food, lovely staff and beautiful surroundings.
Wonderful service and great food! We had a special table inside and it felt so private.
yes , would recommend for the ambience which is somewhere between palm springs and hollywood, and the clientele very glamorous instagram worthy patrons.
staff very attentive and pleasant without being obsequious
as a result the food is good but very expensive for generally simply presented plates ( eg $40+ for average sized piece of fish alone for main course)
I have eaten at Hellenika a few times on the Coast but was a little disappointed with the Brisbane experience. Mousaka was cold and then replaced and still cold. Staff handled well and compensated with other items.
Unable to cater for dietary needs (dairy free) - didn’t apologise nor replace foods bought out containing dairy. Expensive for mediocre Greek food. Try Greca instead - much much better food and great service.
Hellenika was divine. The service and ambience was faultless. The food was delicious though a little pricey. The place was packed so book in advance.
I have been twice to Hellenika.
The wine list is seriously impressive.
However I was once again underwhelmed by the menu. Simple offerings, over priced. I struggle to find options of interest. Perhaps that is just the limitations of a greek menu. Perhaps if I was to choose the larger and more expensive offerings, I would have a different opinion.
I really enjoyed the excellent fresh & tasty share plates, especially the Eggplant Mousaka and dips. The night was balmy and breezy and it was fabulous to sit beside the pool. The waiters were well informed
about the menu
I was very impressed with our experience. However was disappointed with the price of the food and drinks. Our waiter did not ask if we wanted to have our water glasses refilled and was constantly filling them up without asking. When we got the bill at the end, we had $32 of sparkling water and $30 of normal water. We weren’t even notified or asked whether we would like more. This is very disappointing as over $60 was spent on just water. In the future, waiters need to be make guests aware of these costs
I have written this business an email expressing my disappointment with the whole night.
Open table should NOT be taking booking for this restaurant when the kitchen is about or has closed.
Feel free to call me regarding this review.
I called earlier to ask them to give us a special care as I was trying to fix things with my ex, the waitress came up and annoyed us so much we left after 5 min because of how an’oying She was, always harassing us to order some wine
We would like to make special mention of Krystal's wonderful service. She is energetic, friendly, attentive and remembered us from previous visit. Whilst she was not our waitress this time around, she ensured our waitress would look after us. We will definitely be back!
Doesn’t even feel like you are in Brisbane. Very cool, great service, food is exceptional! Will definitely be back!
Greek Food is such delicious food; the setting amongst the beautiful Calile Hotel on a beautiful sunny Brisbane afternoon .. how could you go wrong! one word.. "service" At first, there are (what seems) like hundreds of staff hanging/lurking around your table until you order and then they disappear & ignore you. we wanted desert, more wine and coffee but didn't even get a chance to ask for it.. it seems they are under immense pressure to get you off your table in under one hour. they are too busy and you cant hear anything.
I was called at 10:25 and asked where we are as the kitchen is closing. We arrive for 10:30 as per booking. We were pointed in the direction of the pool and again told we would need to order quickly as the kitchen was closing. We seated ourselves in the cabana and were promptly told to move! We were not shown to a table but rather told “over there” with a swinging arm. We asked for a cushion for my sister who has recently had surgery. It was an enormous inconvenience. Before receiving menus we were told to order drinks now as, for the third time, the kitchen is closing! We ordered drinks and while still standing ordered our meal. It was extremely uncomfortable and unwelcoming. At no point when I made the booking was I told the kitchen was closing, why do they take bookings for 10:30? We were not served again, in fact I had to stand and wave my arms about to get some salt for our eggs. I had invited my sister and our visiting friend from the USA. We had travel an hour & 1/2 to come to this restaurant, we were to spend the day shopping in James street. I was expecting a lovely relaxed morning. It was embarrassing, uncomfortable and an experience I would wish on anyone. We went home immediately after the “brunch”!
Don’t bother, the staff are far to special and don’t value your customers.
I have enjoyed dinner at Hellenika twice in the last two months. I was super impressed with the service and food the first time but the second dining experience was not quite as positive. The service was ok but slow - the first bottle of wine arrived after the third meal of the banquet - and the food was not as tasty. Also the timing of the different dishes was a bit rushed and the girl looking after our table was less attentive. All in all ok, but I will not be back - at least not in the near future!
Service was impeccable and attentive the whole night and the waitress was very helpful with the menu. Food was served quickly and tasted great but not as good as similar priced restaurants. Restaurant inside had a lovely atmosphere. Overall A nice experience.
We had a delightful experience made possible by a most helpful waiter, Glen (?) . The Kingfish Collar was prepared beautifully, and my vegetarian guest enjoyed her dish of spanakopita. The lamb ribs were scrumptious . The wine suggestions went well with our meal. We will definitely be back when next we visit Brisbane.
Fabulous design, food, great wine list. Service is almost too good - could have checked on us less
Special thank you to our waiter.
She made it easy and relaxed. A most enjoyable experience.
Thank you. LA.
The quality of the food was impeccable but it seemed to lack creativity. It was too much like traditional Greek food to warrant the price. I had the Superior Banquet and was a bit dissapointed with the blandness of the dishes.
A big gripe that I have is the $8 per bottle of filtered still and sparkling tap water. I have nothing against the taste or lower carbon footprint vs SP or AV but most establishments don't charge for refills of sparkling water and certainly don't charge for still water. At over $110 per head for lunch this was taking the p....
Average service and the waitress wasn’t able to describe core menu items. The food was fresh.
Was amazing food at a pretty decent price, place was very loud but overall experience was amazing
We were there for a significant family celebration and we were seated poolside. We were all disappointed that we had to drink our amazing champagne in plastic cups. Ruined it for us sadly
Impeccable service, outstanding food and attention to detail was superb. Highly recommended for a special dining experience.
Our Lite Lunch was excellent value and more than enough to eat!
First class food and service. Great choice of select food such as marron and King George whiting. Best greek salad we have ever had (including in Greece). Service with a smile. Parking is a bonus. Will definitely return.
Had an amazing dinner - service and food were excellent! Would definitely go back - hopefully soon!
Experience was great overall. Opted for one of the banquet menus, which provided a good survey of the food. Highest quality ingredients and plenty for both of us, representing a solid value. Service was the most outstanding part of the evening.
The atmosphere and staff were amazing and the food was spectacularly presented. There was a lot of variety in the food and my friends and I will be dining there again.
Without a doubt, one of the best restaurants in Brisbane!
We had an amazing lunch at Hellenika. We had the banquet menu which was beautiful food and good value for money. The drinks list was really extensive which was great and the service was fabulous all afternoon. Can't wait to come again.
