Yummy food and good service though a bit noisy so appreciated the staff spreading diners seating to allow some more privacy. Will definitely be back.
I was looking for a Greek atmosphere but found it mainstream ..we were hoping to buy a glass of Retsina but had to buy a whole bottle. The quality of the food was excellent. The service was pleasant but not engaging....
The food was great but the menu should be cater more for children / teenagers.
The service was great but not really happy with the $72 overcharge!
Food was everything you would expect, all superb, with the exception of a disappointing dessert. We would also have preferred that the courses had not come out so quickly, being the second dinner sitting there shouldn't have been any need to rush us.
The food was fabulous. We had the banquet menu and were not disappointed. The great surprise was being able to order more food all included in the price. I love my loukoumades and wasnt disappointed. Would highly recommend Hellenic Republic and will be back again.
We took our two children with us and the food was spot on . We will definitely be back. Lovely Mothers Day.
Absolutely delicious and the service was amazing. Will definitely be coming back again.
Great Meal (Especially the Lamb), Excellent Service and Friendly Staff. Thoroughly enjoyed by all. Recommended.
Amazing food and really great service! Perfect for our special occasion!
This was a special occasion taking family from interstate out for a Melbourne dining experience at an iconic restaurant.
We were tossing up between ordered a la carte or doing a set menu. Our waiter suggested the set menu would be best for us so we decided on the $55 per head menu.
Firstly, the food was all delicious. No doubt about it. The first course consisted of several small dishes which included dips, olives, bread, a fish ceviche, fried zucchini and grilled haloumi. This was a great start to the meal. Next came one serve of the chicken from the spit accompanied by the grain salad and a small dish of yoghurt. Beautiful food- everything tasted gorgeous. What we were all waiting for was some beautifully cooked lamb on the spit. However to our surprise the table was cleaned down and all the plates taken away and dessert- some donuts, was brought out. We couldn't believe it.
When we agreed to the set menu we said we wanted to taste a bit of everything. We didn't realise that mains didn't include red meats or seafood of any kind.
So we did really enjoy the meal but felt cheated a bit. At $55 a head for 4 people, a total of $210 I do not think this is good value for money, especially when 2 of the people in our group were grown men who were not sated after eating. This is disappointing.
We ordered the banquet. The chicken served was average. It looked like it was a serving for one person, not for two people.
Consistently good. I like the revised simplified menu which still remains very interesting and provides an excellent selection of choices
Went on Friday night for a catch up with friends. 4 of us all together. The service was very friendly and fast, everything was explained well. We had one fussy eater and they were happy to adjust a dish or 2 for her. I feel that while being well within normal prices that perhaps the dishes are a little smaller than many Greek restaurants. Atmosphere is good although very noisy but that was expected and ok for a smaller group.
To be very honest the new $25 lunch meal is not nearly as good as it used to be some 12 months ago. Tiny portions, little variety and the dessert - really?
Could have been better value as it used to be:)
Lovely food quality and ambience:)
Unfortunately disappointing and overpriced. Food was rather greasy and the Greek coffee was delivered to the table one cup 'n saucer on top of another - extremely unhygienic.
A bit mechanical with no personality from the staff. Sell ‘em the set menu and forget them.
As always- very good.
Very busy food good apart from mix up of order. Need more staff as service was not fantastic
I was slightly disappointed with the food but not all of it. Taramosalata was creamy and delicious, far better than mums! We had the oven baked snapper which was coated in a parsley green paste, which to the eye, was not well presented, and sloppy to the taste the paste was not necessary, oven baked would have been enough without the paste, it was too much paste and not tasty. The octopus serve was the size not even enough to tantalise as an entree and for the cost sorry that was insulting. the greek horiatiki salad was "trendacised" with pickled onions and green tomatoes, which spoilt the simplicity of such a tasty salad, leave well enough alone! Again the serve, measley. Pita bread was served, when I think a homemade bread would have been nicer to accompany the dips and so on. Also the fish took a very long time to get to the table and when it did, it was just warm and for the amount of time we were waiting you would expect it to be hot to the table, sorry but warm to cold doesnt cut it. There were maybe 5 tables and it took a very a long time to get the food out. I understand fish takes a bit of time, but I oven roast and grill snapper always and it doesnt take that long! Wine list a bit simple. It's not Greek food as it should be, changing it to be a bit trendy, didnt appeal. You can good quality produce, organic, fresh and that would suffice, dont need to change it, leave it as it is George, it's tastier!

Went on a Saturday night, excellent service and the food delicious. My only negative comment was that it was so noisy that I found it hard to hear the conversation at our table of four.
Other than that it was a fantastic evening.
A relaxed vibe and attentive staff made for an enjoyable experience. Food was nice, not high end with creative flair but true to its Greek heritage.
The service was fantastic and the staff were very attentive and very friendly. The food was amazing and such a selection. The $55 banquet was absolutely perfect - we are still talking about the flavours!!!!
There was a good selection of drinks however the drinks were very expensive. Wines double the price and a glass of aperol spritz $15 is quite expensive.
We will return for the lamb and dolmades next time!!
The meat and brads are excellent. Needs more salad options - the Greek salad is average.
The atmosphere was very good sometimes a little noisy [perhaps that's authentic] as the room seems to amplify some sounds, such as crying/shouting children. We dined wiht some Greek friends and enjoyed the food [which our friends assured us was very genuine Greek] and wine. The meal was well presented and tasty.
Such an amazing meal..and service was excellent also. I've visited for a special occasion and for a date and this place was suitable for both, really enjoyed it!
Most enjoyable, great cuisine and good vibes. Most authentic with real professional friendly service.
Loved it. Had the banquet and switched a couple of items. Nothing too much trouble. Not too noisy either
Food come out pretty quick which it was good not enough food. For the money we’re spent I didn’t get my vegan spanakopita I been told it coms with the $55 I thing when you get plates to share it should be mor varieties but to tell you the truth the loukoumades was the worst omg 😮 love my loukoumades but those was really bad I was very excited to go but over rated not going back that’s for shore sorry George .
The best taromasalata I have ever had in my life! Fluffy pita bread, a great selection of meats for the carnivores and fresh, delicious seafood all done with simple wood-fired smoky goodness. The moussaka is indulgent, comforting and absolutely sensational. Will be back to try more on the menu. Go George and Team! YUM!
Great night out - food was amazing & waitresses were lovely! Haven’t been to the restaurant for about 7 years - definitely won’t leave it that long next time! Thanks for having us - Kendra
great food, excellent knowledgeable service, just the perfect amount of food
The service was AMAZING. Nice to taste everything, would love to try more selections next time!
It was an enjoyable lunch there was my husband, myself and two adult boys we were sat beside a large table that had a toddler in a high chair cute but we probably could have been sat in another spot in the restaurant away from such a large group (25th feb a sunday not that busy so plenty of tables)
Food was very good.
Great food as always. Very quick service and never felt rushed. I love how they bring out more food if you New it when eating the share plates.
We had tried to secure a reservation at the Brighton restaurant but to no avail. We are glad we persisted and took the time to travel to Kew. The Lamb and chicken were outstanding and the halloumi was fantastic. Beautiful salad but no room for the side chips. The service was great and the only knock i can think of was that the tables were a tad too close and it was quite noisy - then again the Greeks aren't known for their silence ;-)
I found it a bit off that the vegetarian dish offered instead of the slow cooked lamb was a chunk of cauliflower browned on top.
Always top notch. Generous serves. Great flavours. Friendly staff.
Great value, great food and a really nice atmosphere. I Would highly recommend it and can't wait to go back.
Great service, tasty food, wonderful atmosphere. Taste buds went into overload. George your resturant is AAAMAZING. Thank you 😀
