We felt really humbled to be able to dine at Hell again. The food was sensational and our chosen and recommended wine choices excellent. This was our first restaurant meal after the lockdowns in Melbourne and it was the best.
It was my first visit to Hell of the North and I’ll be going back. A wonderful dining experience.
Loved our experience at Hell in the north. Lovely staff, chilled ambience and delicious food. I highly recommend the Pumpkin, goats curd and sage beurre noisette.
Outstanding, a perfect blend of outstanding flavours, service & ambiance. Never disappointed with this experience, thanks to all the staff and their friendly/ family vibe.
Hell of the North is a consistently great local experience, good ambience, great food and drinks and good staff.
Hell of the North is a great cosy place to take a date.
Food is amazing! The servers were attentive and polite. Definitely would love to come again!
the phone menu thing is annoying. one of the great joys of dining out is being presented with a menu and wine list.
It comes off feeling cheap and charmless, which is a good match for the service.
Food was pretty good
Dining room needs some acoustic treatment as it was hard to hear over the screeching millenials.
Love the place and always coming back when in Melbourne.
Friendly staff and great atmosphere, but very mediocre overpriced food.
Always a favourite for me and why I booked our romantic anniversary dinner there! I love the friendly, knowledgeable and fun staff who genuinely make you feel welcome. The food was outstanding. We had the set menu which had a couple of things on it I would never order but enjoyed greatly and happy were included, for example the muscles (deshelled).
The multiple areas and buzzy atmosphere means this venue is great for romantic dinners or a group get together.
Every dish was mouthwatering, the staff all very friendly and accomodating, and the ambiance just beautiful. You have to try the creme brûlée.
Over hyped and over priced. Took two hours for 4 very tiny courses (including dessert).
Food portions were small and taste was below average.
Their pork dish is $38 on the menu and essentially is a $6 pork fillet from Woolworths with a smear of apple sauce.
When reading reviews for this restaurant, it’s clear their quality has disappeared lately and many reviews confirm this.
We had the feed me menu which was high quality and ample for two. There is a very good wine list that matches well to the range of food. We've been a few times and will go again soon.
The food was so rich we couldn’t finish the dishes
Sensational night with spectacular food, service and wine. Every dish was the favorite!
Amazing, the cheese soufflé is a must. The restaurant is well spaced and moody, good for a date night
A great dinner spot with good vibes and ambience. Everything from the set menu was absolutely divine
The food was fantastic...the wine also was wonderful. The only downside was the waitress who forgot our mains. We waited over an hour before we asked where it was, no apology from her but an apology from the owner. For the rest of the evening she was 'put-out' and I must say it put a damper on an otherwise lovely evening.
Portion size is slightly too small given that the food is flavoursome but not overly rich
Just an(other) outstanding evening. Great team, great food, great cocktails. Unforgettable. One of the "hidden gems" of Melbourne
On app had booking available at 2245 but had closed at 2200
Very disappointing to arrive with restaurant closed despite showing appointments on app
Just love this place. Always coming back. Service and food couldn't be better.
My parents and I booked for Mother's Day and couldn't be happier with the experience - $70 per head for four courses. We got to try a bit of everything, and it was all delicious. The service was friendly, very prompt, and we had a lovely time without being rushed. We'll definitely be back.
Always love coming here, never disappoints
Lovely restaurant, delicious food and wonderful service!
The standard of this restaurant has dropped after our last visit, especially the service was really poor on that night. We 3 arrived on time for dinner last night and we was escorted to a small the table in the back area, so then we was waiting for any service person to come to the table. After 10min waiting, I stand up and asked someone at the bar to get at least some drinks. After the approach we got some sparkling water (from the tap) and a bottle of white wine. The menu concept was explained to us ($80 per person!) and we told him that that's fine and that I can eat meat but my 2 other guests are pescatarian. He said that’s fine and he will make the menu choice for us, which was a mistake in the end. After another 35 minutes waiting we received finally 2 appetiser plates, the “cured Ocean trout”$25 and the “beetroots, hazelnut, onion ash” for $22. I asked if it’s possible to get some bread to go with and was surprised to received a 50gr warm bread roll cut in 4 portions for 3 people!!! The next course was the “mussels, persillade butter, pickled fennel” $25 from the menu which came with a portions of “French fries“ $10.- and with another small bread roll. We three have been surprised about this one plate only but thought there is bigger portions to the main course. When the service cleared the plates I asked what we will get now get for main course and he so said the “pork loin, brussels sprouts, apple” $38 and the pescatarian will get the gnocchi, the mush rooms and a salad. So no fish at all!!! They told him that they don’t like gnocchi and would to have a fish for main course, which the kitchen team could do for us. So we received with the pork a plate of soaked “pine mushrooms with goat curd” $27, the “king fish filet, wakame butter, braised lettuce” $34.- and a “rocket salat” $10. The quality of the food was good but we all have been still hungry. For the last course we received 2 portions of Crème Brûlée $28 and a warm “gingerbread & rhubarb pudding” $14
Food amazing as always, service was exceptional though dropped off with late staff change. However restaurant was way too loud. Music was turned up as night went on making everyone speak louder. We left early as gave all of our party a headache. Not a place for a romantic night out however can’t fault the food and most of the service.
We had the feed me menu and loved each dish. Beautiful ambience, friendly staff, overall great value for money
Food is delicious but the portion is in the smaller side.
We had the Saturday service which the kitchen takes account of your dislikes and works around your taste. They choose the food for you which was a fun way to dine and they didn’t miss.
Every course delivered and they have an incredible wine list from old world and new.
Spectacular service that wasn’t rushed and it was extremely attentive.
We’ll be back there before long!
Thoroughly enjoyed our experience! Service and food and wine excellent!
Outstanding experience each visit. Love the food, service and personal touch.
FANTASTIC night out! Could not have enjoyed ourselves more... exceptional service, delicious food, great ambience & fabulous cocktails! What a night! Highly recommend & will definitely be back. Thank you all for a wonderful dining experience.
Great food and service. We chose the chefs suggestions and all were great with special mention to the cheese soufflé !
Outstanding as always. My favourite place to dine in Melbourne
Was great, the steak tartare was still my favourite and we sampled over 8 delicious cocktails between the two of us.
Please do remember to buy the kitchen a round of drinks, they do an excellent job.
