Hearth Restaurant - The Ritz-Carlton, Perth
For a restaurant of this price and caliber was very disappointed with the service. Took ages to get a drink order and was nearly 40 mins between starter and mains. Portions extremely small for price
Fine dining in a friendly atmosphere. Beautiful food and professional staff, we will definitely visit again soon.
Superb cooking using the best local ingredients - highly recommended
Overall, the experience at Hearth did not suit the price tag. The entrees were lovely and suitable priced and sized and came out within a reasonable time. However we waited 50 minutes for our mains to arrive; and upon arrival, the mains were the same size as the entrees. I ordered the lobster and it was rather chewy and flavorless. The steak was tasty however the size of the dish was pretty underwhelming. The service was okay however definitely not a 5 star experience.
Service was a little slow on quite a busy night.
Entrees were a little pricey.
Mains and sides were excellent.
Some quite reasonably priced wines.
Just thought the ambiance was a little lacking for fine dining.
Loved every dish we ordered, the bread, fish and marron. Beautifully presented and perfectly cooked with exquisite taste.
Service was amazing.
Would highly recommend.
Fantastic in every respect. Beautiful food, presentation, attention to detail and innovative taste structures. Outstanding service and a wonderful location. As good as anywhere we’ve been.
I had the wagyu for a high grade cut, you should let the meat speak for its self with out adding the sweet sauce or have the sauce on the side. The steak was also firm compare to what I am used to.
Cocktail menu was too small and not offered until requested. Otherwise the service was great and the birthday card from the chef was a nice gesture.
But for the price point standards are high and while the venue and service deliver the food was not as exciting as Garum, Red Cabbage, Petit Mort and Rockpool which are all comparable on service and ambience but offer more delight in the dishes and drinks for a similar or lower price point
If you are aiming at the top of the ladder then the delivery needs to be 100% wihtout fail, not 75%. The incorrect wine variety came to our table initially. The ordered entree's were given to the wrong diner, there was only TWO of us. We had the shared main. The music choice was quite odd. There really should be a dress standard. Sleveless shirts for men really shouldn't be allowed. The food was certainly good but at the prices charged , it would be appalling if it wasn't. The interior design - again a 75% hit. To be honest I would recommend another experience at an oppossing hotel over this one whcih on the numerous occassions I've eaten there have been exceptional.
We had a lovely relaxing lunch in beautiful surroundings. The food was tasty, well portioned and nicely presented. I did enjoy eating local ingredients.
Wonderful and fresh Western Australian food joined with a different approach to combining flavours and tastes which results in an amazing culinary experience. All the dishes were beautiful prepared and presented. Service was Excellent and attentive without being over the top or disruptive. An excellent addition to the Perth food scene.
The food was good but not good value for money. The wine was too expensive. The worst aspect was the ambiance - it was like eating in a university refectory. The tables were small and without linen. The decor was atrocious minimalist with poor flower arrangements.
The food was quite salty. a bit average for it’s price. Staff were friendly. The restaurant was noisy and the light setting was poor. Wine list was good.
We had booked via the OpenTable site even though we were staying at the hotel. On arrival we were ushered to our table by a friendly staff member who advised someone would be along to attend to us. After 10-15 minutes of waiting for menus and water and appearing invisible we went and cornered a wait person. The young waiter assigned to us was very apologetic. Once they knew we were hotel guests to level of service improved and continued through out the evening. The staff are young, enthusiastic and attentive (once they know you exist) however lack the professional level that we felt should be be evident in a flagship dining room.
The food is innovative, with a small menu, well presented with lots of options for sharing. The concept of the food being cooked on an open flame is great and adds a lovely flavour to the dishes.
We would certainly go back with friends to enjoy the food especially on a warm night when the doors can be opened and allow the outside to come into the restaurant.
Fabulous food and service. Driveway was a bit hard to locate. Is there signage? Hearth was wonderful! x
The ambiance is underwhelming. Sure it's minimalistic and modern, but it lacks warmth imo. The central light fittings set a poor canvas. Food choices were insufficient, and while there are some interesting choices and I have no complaints, I walked away disappointed. Perhaps my expectations were too high as the website pitches the venue as fine dining with flavoursome locally sourced produce - none of which is incorrect, but Hearth is not yet in the same league as our other fine dining establishments. Waitrons were not locals (mostly strong european accents) and needed help when questioned regarding cooking techniques and the wine list. They could not recommend a dry champagne without going to ask "the manager" (not the Sommelier). We ordered an abalone entree and a duck main. Sides were additional, and the bread was a highlight. The whole cooked duck was initially presented to us - placed on the table on a bed of picturesque shrubbery - and we were requested to take photos of it before it was removed for preparation. We were later served a platter with 2 filleted breasts and a bowl of pulled duck in a mousse (poor but factual description, it was good). Prices create a level of expectation, and $96 for a shared duck should have been special. The website menu prices this dish at $88 and this is another example of how they are not yet running at 100%. I will go again, and recommend it to friends. I think it has much promise and I appreciate the effort to promote local produce.
Excellent food for lunch at Hearth. Cannot fault the ambience, food or drinks. Service is still finding its feet but much smoother than in November 2019. All up a great place to eat and enjoy the view.
You need to train your staff better:
(i) while enquiring at downstairs bar to ask directions for where HEARTH was ... the barman working at the time suddenly turned his attention from us and began to loudly and rather aggressively chastise a group of bar lounge guests who were trying to move chairs around...a more subtle and gracious approach would have been appropriate not only at Ritz Carlton but at any venue really;
(ii) when delivering each meal for all courses ordered, it was very annoying to have the waitress go through the litany of main ingredients...couldn't understand her anyway as her English was poor;
Overall, although the food was of high quality, the ambience and general set-up of the Perth version of your hotel is far too casual and low key which is rather disappointing. It's obvious that the planners have tried to "fit" the version to the stereotype of Perth - beachy, casual, maybe a bit unsophisticated ... but a standard higher than this would have been more of a standout rather than the ho hum it is. Sorry, really wanted to be impressed but was totally underwhelmed.
Great food from locally sourced produce, nicely spaced seating and friendly staff. Will certainly go again.
I would say for fine dining it missed the mark. I expected better and was disappointed.
Lovely new venue - I had the lamb , delicious however the beef wasn’t the best
Amazing experience! The Hearth definitely showcases the best of WA!
Magnificent food in a magnificent building but no ambiance at all. Hearth restaurant is on the ground floor opening onto the footpath with the ambiance of a staff cafeteria. There is no view - strange for such a location?? Why not have a fine dining restaurant on the top floor with panoramic river views???
We had to wait to be seated. After waiting 5 minutes I had to find someone to give us a menu and water. The table seated after us was served before us.
My fish was inedible - dry and over-cooked.
The dessert was no more than a bowl of cut up cubed jelly with a scoop of ice cream on top.
This was at lunch time on Tuesday when the restaurant had barely any patrons.
A very bad experience.
Very limited wine list & food choice but enjoyed most of what we chose. The ambience would be better if the white blockout blinds were up to enjoy the view.
All service was exceptional. The lamb was cooked to perfection and the bread was devine. Good use of local produce. I would have enjoyed the blinds being opened when the sun went down to enjoy the outside view. I think this would have also added to the ambience.
Great service - outstanding waiters and waitresses!
Would rank food at Wildflower Perth level. Pork was a stand out!
Fantastic deal with first bread roll $3 and every one after complimentary!
The most amazing dining experience. Everything was exceptional. So nice to see a menu and wine list that is based on western Australian produce.
I can’t wait to visit again.
As it was our first visit for lunch at the Hearth Restaurant my guests and I were very impressed how the main course dishes were presented and the favour the the chef managed to achieve by mixing the different ingredients together.
It was a pleasure to be greeted by the Restaurant Manager at the door when we arrived at the Restaurant and the wait staff were very efficent and precise in explaining the dishes on the lunch menu to us.
entrée was fantastic however the main was salty and grass-fed beef was not cooked to a high standard.
Service was amazing! Thank you.
Amazing dinner. Great atmosphere, service and food. Could not fault it. Great for a special occasion dinner. Only criticism was the dining room was a little cold.
Amazing experience! Food is out of this world. Highly recommended.
Disappointed with the service upon being seated. Simple questions were responded to with unnecessary attitude. However the food itself was of exceptional standard. Hot food, on hot plates. my starter - the Marron was cooked to perfection, wasn’t chewy which most restaurants get wrong. My main, the lamb, Was the perfect medium rare however I wasn’t asked what cook I’d like on the lamb. What if I preferred a different kind of temperature on it? Just saying. I had a salad with kale in it, absolutely amazing.
Hendricks gin and tonic was to die for, the ambience was breathtaking, silverware, sparkling clean.
And love the attention to detail the wait staff had when it came to explaining the menu and brief history about the restaurant.
Would’ve loved a minty on the way out but oh well. It was great
Beautiful food, perfectly plated, with flavours that felt quintessentially Western Australian. Loved the warm, relaxed service and clean, elegant vibe. Wonderful for a special occasion!
There was three of us dining we found the table to be comfortable with a nice view of Elizabeth Quay. The menu while limited was well executed with a good selection of all the main dishes looked for on the menu. All the foods we are local and fresh and thoughtfully put together I enjoyed the Marron very much and the kitchen was happy to accommodate my dietary needs it will be lovely to see non-dairy deserts in the offering but for the main part our experience was faultless
Beautiful restaurant, amazing food & service & were very accommodating with our children!
Great setting and delicious Australian food, thoroughly recommend.
Nice decor and surroundings. The food is well presented and delicious. Attentive staff, overall very nice meal.
We loved our Christmas Lunch! The food was spectacular. There were some staff teething problems; not understanding the menu, forgetting things, not aware of what was in the dishes. Overall though staff were really lovely, helpful and doing their best. The wait between meals was long and we understand that was most likely due to the volume of dishes and the first 5 course menu at the venue. We have recommeneded Hearth and cant wait to come back again to try more! Thanks again. Rhonnie
