A classy yet comfortable ambience with delicious, memorable food. The service was spot-on.
Hazel was simply amazing, the service we received was delightful and the staff were very accommodating with our dietary requests. They made every thing so effortless. Would love to dine at Hazel again.
Loved everything, especially the food. Delighted to find the sound system out of order, so noise levels were moderate and I could converse. Just goes to show that good restaurants do not need obtrusive music! Vue De Monde could take lessons! The welcome and staff were great, Summer Martini inventive and delicious, the sharing menu just right for a hot day with a wide collection of great flavours. I'll be back.
Loved it! A beautiful sun drenched venue, very attentive and professional staff, and delicious, fresh and modern food. Perfect for our Sunday girlie lunch. Highly recommend.
A great night in every way. Wonderful ambience. Quiet enough to hold good conversations. Not rushed at all. Wonderful service with interesting did in generous portions
Great pre theatre dinner.
Underwhelmed considering some of the hype I’ve read.
One waiter in particular was outrageously rude.
The food here was absolutely amazing. The music playing was way too loud, but it did get turned down eventually. Getting a table and then paying was a little bit of a hassle. But the overall ambience and the wait staff we had were great.
Amazing space in a heritage building. Ground floor was fairly subdued, great for a quiet dinner. However upstairs was much busier; better if you’re seeking a more lively evening. Chefs menu well priced at $72pp. Good range and not too much or too little in volume. Will definitely return
Amazing food, service and venue. Will definitely be back.
Great experience, food was sensational. noted our dietary requirements and they happily provided alternatives. Mentioned it was a special occasion and they made it special with little touches throughout the meal. Great value. Will definitely be going back!
Had a lovely afternoon lunch. Food was great and staff were very helpful. We will be back when next in Melbourne. Thank you
Loved our first experience there. Great value express lunch.... and delicious. The pavlova was exceptional. Service just perfect. Have told everyone about it!
Food, service and kindness were exemplary and I would certainly recommend Hazel
The head waiter and wine waitress really knew their stuff. Catered to our dietary requirement with exceptional service. Will go again when next in Melbourne.
Great food, nice atmosphere and lovely staff!
food is clean and flavorsome. Fresh ingredients, beautiful cocktails. Staff are enthusiastic and attentive
Fantastic food...a bit noisy for a quiet conversation, but energetic and fun. Get the muscles on toast! Sommelier was very helpful as well!
Hazel is a great new place with good food and pleasant service. It is a good place for a quick and good value business lunch. I have also been at the bar in the basement, Dessous, and the cocktails are just out of this world!! Come and visit!
Loved it, thank you. Fresh, bright and vibrant !!!
My friend and I had the most amazing experience at Hazel. Our service attendant was friendly, professional, attentive and considerate of our needs. The food was absolutely beautiful and the wine selection is excellent too. An evening I will remember for a long time!
'Hazel' is a fabulous restaurant. Everything about it is outstanding. It is situated in a lovely six storey heritage building - Richard Allen and Son (164 Flinders Lane) - and takes up two levels of stunning high ceilinged light filled rooms. The tables are beautifully appointed, beside, or facing the enormous wall of windows and well separated from those surrounding. The decor is understated elegant and delightful.
We were greeted warmly on entry and escorted upstairs to our table. The menu is not excessive but it doesn't need to be - there is plenty of choice for everyone's taste and food interest. If you require a variation for any reason as I did, vegetarian, this does not present a problem. The waiter was informative, helpful, attentive and very pleasant. Everything was taken care of.
The food arrived hot and perfectly presented and was delicious. I am not able to fault any part of the experience and would highly recommend a visit to find out for yourself. It is not over-expensive, about right, and the full value is clearly evident.
Lovely place, food was delicious but not really made for sharing. Portions are small - I was still hungry when I left.
A great newcomer to the restaurant scene in Melbourne. Service was outstanding and the food was delicious and beautifully presented.
Tried the $72 pp chef menu with a group of nine (9). I was a bit anxious at the time of booking Hazels for a big group dinner because the reviews were quite mixed. But I’m glad I tried this place before it gets too busy! I’m sure it will, considering the price range, taste, service, location and atmosphere. The service was great! Each dish was nicely portioned and was served at good timing. I would highly recommend for people planning a big group dinner in the city. Also, the first cocktail on the menu is recommended! V refreshing and bubbly.
Good food, service a little forced and The music was all over the place
Food was sub-par & not worth the price. However, the venue is beautiful.
We had a great birthday dinner at Hazel. The chef’s menu was delicious!
Our Ladies who Lunch post-xmas catch up at Hazel was nothing short of excellent. Really, really great food (huge serves!), excellent wine list - a little pricey, but the food isn't terribly expensive so it works out well in the end - and really excellent service. Fabulous space (upstairs table at the back, looking over the kitchen area), bright and light. Not as noisy as we thought it might be, despite being reasonably busy. Only issue was with the banquette seating, which could be improved with some cushions to provide better back support (but thank you for giving my friend a rolled up towel!). Overall, excellent experience.
The staff are exceptional. As is the food. Outstanding service. 5 stars.
Great food (family style) with terrific engaged staff who really did try to make our experience better
One of the loveliest restaurants we’ve been to in a long time. We ate at another renowned Melbourne restaurant the next night and Hazel was better by far. Thankyou, it was a fantastic way to spend our anniversary. We’ll be back again!
Beautiful setting, high end experience, food is uniquely chosen and prepared. Sharing of multiple plates recommended. Toast is a specialty. We opted for zucchini and mint toast with cheese. Much enjoyed. Also had fresh fish though my daughter does not like skin on her fish. Pork noodle dish was our favorite. Noodles are thin and brown paired well with the small pork meatballs. Berry crumble dessert also much enjoyed though I was partial to the unusual cocktail. Service attentive and informative as well as friendly. Other patrons all looked happy with their selections as well. We will remember it as a special Melbourne experience.
Lovely restaurant to bring in the new decade...what a great start to 2020; we felt like we were in New York. Food and service was outstanding, amazing ambience and a night we wont forget. Thank you Hazel x
Great ambience & food. Service fell short and let down the whole experience.
Food was excellent. Service from our waitress was rushed and kept telling us that we needed to leave by x time, basically every time she came up to us.
Group of 4 had the chefs tasting menu amazing experience tried lots of new things and we really had loads of food. Staff were helpfil and attentive without hovering. Fabulous food and drinks
Amazing food in a gorgeous restaurant with lovely staff. I loved it all!
Amazing! Chef and team are incredible.
