Its great space and every dish we ordered was delicious. It was a lovely night out at Hazel and comes highly recommended.
Lovely relaxed space, cheerful and attentive staff, great food. Spot on!
The best food and service I've had in at least 3-4 years. Thoughtful service and delightful menu
The ambience at Hazel was beautiful the food delicious the staff well presented helpful and friendly
We enjoyed our night definitely highly recommend
Hazel has adapted to these strange restriction times very well - friendly service and an interesting menu means anyone who dines here will enjoy themselves, despite the sparse tables. We thoroughly enjoyed our food, even if it ended up being perhaps a little too rich for our delicate palates. Portions were of a great size too! Staff were accommodating of requests and helpful with recommendations. We enjoyed our Yarra Valley Pinot Noir. All in all a great return to dining out!
Was really looking forward to dinner, having had lunch there several times and during lockdown having Hazel at home. I was not disappointed. The food and menu choices were excellent and the drinks delicious. They catered very well for the vegan and vegetarian in our party. Thankyou for a wonderful evening.
Super friendly service. An enjoyable intimate dinner
beautiful food and refined service, a lovely environment to enjoy a dinner that showed classical and refined cooking skills. Well constructed food, and good cooking skills are often misplaced by unnecessary experimentation, here was food that was delicious and well executed.
We had an awesome dinner at Hazel, everything is perfect! Services is first class and the food just unreal. Especially the duck leg with figs, it's one of the best duck dishes I had; even better than lots of world top restaurants.
The staff and food were fantastic. The menu was great and really good value.
We had a fabulous evening trying out the Hazel set menu. The venue was huge and beautifully decorated. Due to CV-19 we were one of few tables, so it was a pleasantly quiet atmosphere. The food was fantastic as was the service.
Food was fabulous, as was the space. Great value set menu.
Staff attentive and food was beautiful!
Loved the service, food and vibes. Felt weird with less people but maybe you could turn the music up a bit to create more vibes. Loved it!
Absolutely phenomenal. The staff were so nice and welcoming and went out of their way to make sure we were happy. The chefs were so accommodating with some difficult dietary issues we had and all of the food was delicious. At the end of the night we got to bring home some bread they had left over which was a definite hangover cure the next day
The space is so beautiful and the food was outstanding. Amazing wine list too. Love everything about it!
It was a great restaurant. I just found the menu a little limiting.
A warm welcome, excellent food delivered in a timely fashion (with food description) by ultra courteous staff in gorgeous surrounds...loved it ! Not to mention a free glass refill after I knocked mine over! Not too much trouble to cater for a garlic allergy either😀
Wonderful place, just hard to find the door!
A great place to eat - slightly noisy but not enough to disrupt a good meal.
First time at Hazel and not disappointed. The service was excellent and the food was very good. Would recommend.
Beautifully fitted out restaurant. Food was delicious and the staff were very accommodating with great attention to detail.
We had a fabulous lunch, staff were helpful and the food was sublime. Would highly recommend
Fantastic fresh food and great service by all staff, going back in a few weeks!!
Great experience of high level food at a great price, got to meet the head chef and all the staff were wonderful !
Pricey but good food overall
A fabulous venue, great staff & fine food, I’ll be back
We thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered at Hazel. Lovely fit out and attentive service
We had an excellent dinner at Hazel. The service was wonderful and the servers were very knowledgeable about the menu, including the wine. The food was amazing - fresh, seasonal, and perfectly portioned. The restaurant itself is in a beautifully restored building on Flinders Ln. We would definitely recommend Hazel!
Interesting menu. Wine moderately expensive but food well priced. Enjoyable experience.
The staff were so welcoming and accommodating without being overbearing. All staff we spoke to greeted us with a smile which was lovely. The food was delicious. It’s certainly not cheap but not overpriced either, a lovely night out.
I am in love with this restaurant and the bar downstairs is divine
A great start to service with a warm welcome at the door, followed by a swift drink order and elegant personal and professional service throughout. The menu was varied and appealing. Our waiter suggested sharing which as a group of five meant we could try more dishes. Good suggestions were made and we took them on board before choosing our own dishes. The vegetable selection was excellent and some of our favourites included the heirloom tomato w peaches & fresh curds, zucchini w mint, chilli & almonds and the whey scalloped potatoes & kefir cream. It was unanimous that the charcuterie selection was one of the best we've ever had. The meats were outstanding, fresh & succulent, particularly the mortadella and capocollo. The wine selection was priced for the city, as expected, but varies and interesting. With a table of interested wine drinkers, we chose well, but did seek some advice and the information was clear, professional and helpful. The sommelier went out of his way to assist where possible including a last minute change of mind just prior to the cap being removed ready to pour. The overall experience was exceptional and I would highly recommend.
Amazing food - so flavourful and just the right amount too.
Service was fab. Location is awesome and it wasn’t busy which is always a plus. I think it won’t stay quiet for too long, so locals...get in before it gets hard to get in 😜
Unbelievable one of the best restaurants ever of 2020
We really liked how the toast orders were cut into 4 pieces - this made it much easier to share between the group. Would recommend Hazel - 10/10
Hazel is the rare restaurant that has all the attributes to impress your friends, your date, your parents, and your boss. The service is knowledgeable and attentive without being overbearing, and the ambiance/decor is very cool and clean, without taking itself too seriously. Great music too. At the end of the day, the main attraction is the food and it is delicious and unexpected (in a good way). There are some old mainstays in the menu mixed in for good measure but they are executed perfectly - the homemade charcuterie board is a must-order, and the tomato/strawberries/curd dish is very well balanced. The star of the show is the toast section of the menu. We had the mussels on toast and it was the best dish we have had anywhere in a long time. Also had the lamb with chimichurri and the cucumbers (ask for a slice of lemon to squeeze over them). All dishes are meant to be shared, and that’s good because you’ll wanna try everything on the menu.
Pro-tip: make a reservation to sit at the counter overlooking the main kitchen, and if possible try to sit in the far left side - that’s the toast station. You’ll be able to see the chefs prepare all of the toasts non-stop (they are the most popular items on the menu). You’ll want to have them all!
Food was delicious as usual however, on this occasion we booked for a group of 8pax and everyone on the table agreed that the portion size was too small. For larger groups they offer the chef’s set menu at $72 which we were happy with however, they brought out two plates of each dish to share between 8 people. I think three of each plate would’ve been more adequate as we were all still hungry after the meal and had to order two extra mains and sides. We still enjoyed the food and would definitely recommend to our friends but my husband and I agreed that we would avoid going with a larger group unless we are able to order items individually.
A lovely dining experience. They accommodated a different table at our request and presented a candle on the creme brûlée for our birthday celebration which was very cute.
A classy yet comfortable ambience with delicious, memorable food. The service was spot-on.
