Visit Harvest for a long lunch on the cool verandah, sample the bespoke weekly changing Wild Harvest menu at night (which is created after a day foraging in the Hinterland) or enjoy a traditional country breakfast at the weekend.
Harvest has received multiple accolades over the years including a hat in the Good Food Guide 2019 and Best Small List (50 Wines) by Gourmet Traveller Wine 2018.
We had a late booking (8pm) due to having to get kids into bed before heading out for special anniversary dinner. Understand that it was a Wednesday night, was busy when we got there, but soon most other customers were leaving. It then felt like we were then being rushed through our dinner by staff, with our mains coming a minute after our entre's cleared etc. The staff then proceeded to clean up around us. Including blowing out table candles etc to the point where there was no ambience at all. There also seemed excessive staff hovering around which in turn made us feel uncomfortable. For a fine dinning expensive venue I just felt like they could have done better.
What a beautiful concept and space! The food was amazing and the staff very knowledgeable and engaging.
We dined at 6pm and was given a private table in a quiet corner. Several staff served us - all were friendly and informative, taking time t answer questions and explain the food and wine. We chose the 5 course degustation with wines and were delighted glass by glass, and plate by plate! To top it off, the Forager came and spent time discussing the wild and native foods with us - so not only divinley delicious, but delightfully educational as well. Thanks all for your care and consideration.
It is very nice but not special. Portions are too small
Outstanding food, great service, and wonderful atmosphere. Some wines on the list need updating as they weren't to our pallet.
Harvest never seems to let me down, the relaxed atmosphere coupled with the impeccable service and attention to detail with the first class meal selection and surroundings makes Harvest on of my favourite places to be x
Absolutely beautiful food, wonderfully presented. Almost all staff extremely friendly. Only minor down side was the sides.. salmon was very generous, bacon was tiny.. one very small piece. Meals on the smaller side generally, but delicious. Would also be great to have a little more variety on the menu, I’m certain there used to be a really great pancakes. Overall, 4 out of 5.
This visit didn’t measure up to previous experiences. The lunch menu was limited and our very knowledgeable waitress never smiled. We didn’t feel our usual connection with Harvest. What we were served (the pork) was excellent, but small portions.
Service was absolutely terrible. Trying to do to much without executing anything well. Poor wine choice, no explanation of the menu and the cocktails were limited. Just an average experience for a hatted restaurant.
Dinner was an outstanding experience. The food and service was on point. The tasting menu was one of our most enjoyable and memorable eating experiences.
Lovely setting, good service. Food was a little disappointing. The ocean trout sashimi was a little tasteless and the carrot cake dessert was pleasant but nothing to write home about. Yhere were some delicious dishes such as the beetroot salad.
Interesting and worthwhile concept - foraging, paddock to plate style. Opportunity to speak with forager was unique and provided great insight. The feel, decor and layout of the place was great. Baby octopus and slow cooked lamb were excellent. Risotto was very ordinary and barely met the description of a risotto. Desserts were a little too deconstructed. Wine service was poor. Inattentive waitress and wine bottle not left at our table so could not help ourselves!
This place is sensational, the food is exceptional, Thank you
Thank you for a lovely meal and fabulous service. We had a very relaxing Sunday lunch!
Thoroughly enjoyed the tasting menu, good portion sizes and a mix that we might have not chosen ourselves but was delicious and locally sourced. A highlight was the matched non-alcoholic beverages. Lots of effort into matching mocktails to the food, enjoyed just as much as the matched wine for the designated driver
Meal of the year! Loved everything about it - would love to go back for bread making workshop
Lovely interesting fresh local produce. We enjoyed the service, including the friendly lizard food was delicious.
Great food, excellent service. Well priced for the experience you receive.
Always great food - worth the drive from a Toowoomba. Very enjoyable.
Staff were lovely ... very efficient and helpful.
We had the slow cooked lamb.... and pea salad side plus kipfler potato.
Kipflers were not cooked enough and the pea salad was raw and both fairly indigestible.
Lamb was good but could have had more seasoning... and very little caramelised onion .
However, we enjoyed the afternoon...but probably a tad expensive for the meal we had.
Only a few restaurants manage to keep performing above expectations. Well done the team at Harvest.
Breakfast was a little cold excluding the eggs and a bit underwhelming for harvest. Venue is always amazing and service was ok. as they didn't have the table ready for our booking and we had to wait 15 minutes while they set it.
Food was amazing and the service was good. Our table was shocked at the price, as we thought it would of been more than what is was. Great value for money
Loved everything about Harvest - the best coffee by far in the region, the bakery items were wonderful, loved the deli and the weekend breakfast was delicious! Loved the gardens and the décor in the restaurant, my favourite place in Byron and we will be back!
This was our second time dining at Harvest. We have had an amazing meal on both visits!
We really enjoyed the dinner and the service. The foraging night was incredible and suprising
Innovative food with wonderful service. I loved the matching non-alcoholic drinks that went with the degustation.
Overall experience was excellent.
I went to Harvest for my birthday lunch and it was simply beautiful! I was very impressed with the caliber of food and the fresh ingredients.
From start to finish one of, if not the most enjoyable dining experiences we have ever had.
Can't wait to return again and again
The food was mostly exceptional. We had octopus as an entree and trout Foyt two which was delicious and very well presented. The only disappointment was one of the deserts, frozen coconut cream with manderin. It looked great but was a bit tasteless , and the mandarin fruit a bit dry and ordinary. To my surprise we were not charged for it after I had mentioned it to the maître’d . So we left very happy.
I have been coming to Harvest regularly from Brisbane for several years and always recommend it to interstate guests. I have never been disappointed ever until this time.
Waited 10 mins at the entry without acknowledgement. Finally seated ,had to look for wait staff after sitting for a while waiting to order. I was served the incorrect Mimosa, had to go to the front of the restaurant to rectify.(no wait staff to be found) I ordered the Zucchini Fritters which were filled with peas(I don't eat peas) and would not have ordered if that had been in the description. They were flat and gluggy . My husband and nieces breakfast were substandard ,the bacon hard and cold ,all in all flavourless. Hardly the delicious tasty fare we have had in the past. The coffee my husband ordered when we first sat down never came .It was gingerly offered as a take away when we were paying. Very disappointing after a 2 hour drive to what is normally one of our favourite food destinations.
Stunning setting , great food, knowledgable great staff - a truly great hospitality experience.
Great food, coffee, venue. Staff very friendly and helpful. My only suggestion is that staff enquire if patrons would like a second coffee after meal is finished and have remained seated, in particular as first coffee was consumed prior to brekkie/brunch having started. Otherwise perfect. Thank you xx
We were really happy with our service and will definitely be returning.
I would recommend Harvest for the food and ambiance however the service could have been better. Management seemed quite disinterested and apathetic. I had booked a table for 5 and requested a simple dessert with a candle as it was a friend’s birthday and on the day of the booking I had approached one of the staff to remind them of this, however nobody seemed to take notice and this was not delivered as promised. We did get an apology at the end, however given we had paid over $300 for our meals it would have been courteous for management to perhaps offer a compliment dessert or something for the birthday girl who missed out on her ‘birthday’ cake and song. Left a bad impression for our first visit to Harvest and will likely not return to be honest. Please pay more attention to your customers as little details make a big impact.
Set in the historic’village’ of Newrybar, Harvest was a delight to experience. Will definitely be back!
Lovely restaurant, friendly efficient staff. Over priced meals, I had the pear for desert it was hard and tasteless. The pork neck was delicious but very expensive for a piece of meat with 4 radishes and a couple of small turnips.
Very nice welcome,
Fruit plate ( never came )
2 soy lattes ( arrived after meals and not soy. So, my wife had to go to the toilet every 30 min on the way to Sydney )
Fried eggs ( good ) the bread hard as stone.
Poached eggs ( good ) no complains.
Sorry for the review. But, I hope you take it to improve yourself.
Btw, we bought some bakery afterwards and was good.
The environment and service were excellent. Food was a disappointment. Too acidotic (fermantation?vinegar?) covering all other tastes.
